One center piece, did you cut notches in baseboard so unit sei plumb on wall or is base of unit just sitting against baseboard?

I've always loved how far closetmaid has come in the years of manufacturing. I also love the metal shelving with the rid system for coats to be able to slide completely from one end to another. The units you used here are really nice because of the drawer and door options.
I had a closet that had the cabinet style on two walls connecting with the corner unit and used 12"metal shelving and flipped upside down at an angle for shoes. It was an 8' long walk and the shelves were 12" apart in height with a solid top shelf for incidental things. The husband and wife had a very large assortment of shoes to fill 6 , 8' long shelving to store a lot of shoes. The key like yo said is to use your imagination to create different things with different parts. I always had customers want either the baseboard cut to fit so the units were flush or cope the units around the base. I always coped the units in case the house sold and someone wanted to do something different. I never had that happen because I always made sure it was done nicely for anyone to enjoy.
Love this look and process with all your descriptive information Josh. 🔨👍🏻

I cannot imagine having all of that to store shoes! It’s funny because I used just one of the shelving units for my place and then the rest is for the wife 😃. I actually have not had to use the metal shelving before but I know several of my family members that have and like them. It seems to be the go to option over a unit like this because of price I assume. Thanks a lot David for stopping by and sharing your experience. Take care!

I remember a time ,not that long ago when it was cheaper to build a similar closet organizer out of 3/4 cabinet grade plywood. Who knew particle board "some assembly required " shelving would become the go-to ? To be fair ,you just can't beat the speed of installation and looks of these systems. They are very easy to build, especially for a DIYer. Excellent video as always!

Probably not important for this installation, but it is always a good idea to first find the high spot on your floor and work of of that so you can get the cabinets level with each other.

Great video, what do you do for the baseboard moulding

One question: How did you account for the base board on the bottom? Or maybe you didn’t need to? My thinking is you can’t push the unit all the way to the wall on the bottom due to trim that would kick out the base a quarter inch or so? If you didn’t notch the bottom, then when affixing to the wall at the top, did you just lean it back?? Thx.

I was worried about that as well before I installed these units. I was going to take the baseboard off and then install the closet made system. I’m glad I did not because the baseboard really didn’t hinder the installation at all. You could even spacers between the drywall anchors and brackets if you were concerned about it. I hope that helps!

@@TheExcellentLaborer I did my closets but didn't use a kit. Instead bought the white boards predrilled, bought the drawers same as you are using, cut shelves from the basic white boards, cost for each closet was about 500.00 but a lot more labor and cutting, measuring. Used these thin long screws with a tiny torx head to hold it all together. Did three closets. The master closet was about 300.00 more as there is a double stack of drawers and shelves.
