- This is the first of the Stanton Lectures that I delivered at the University of Cambridge at the end of April and through the first week and a half of May this year. It is not, however, a recording of the lecture as delivered on the first night of the series. Due to some errors of planning, which led to technical issues of an irresoluble nature, that recording was never made. The rest of the lectures were properly recorded, however, and will be posted in due time.
I apologize for my somewhat torpid performance here. In part, it is the result of having no one to react to whenever I turned my eyes up from the page, but in larger part it is because I am still in a very melancholy frame of mind.
David, God bless you with peace in this time of loss. I'm sure Roland is having a blast in the next life and waits eagerly for the day you and him will be reunited again. Blessings.
As one who has studied NDEs for over 3 decades and one who fancies himself a follower of the Anointed One Jesus, I can say with 97% certainty that our beloved pets will greet us in Heaven someday. God’s love is manifest in all intelligence and relationships. If it’s any small consolation; you will be reunited with Roland someday. As you know Robert, God loves Roland with an infinite love too.
NDE ‘ s … as a nurse I heard my post cardiac arrest patient tell me “ I didn’t want to come back ! I saw my deceased brother- he was not old… but maybe 30 ish. From those moments in the late 1970’s… that was not understood…” it was real there !” More real than here. In 2006 , I began my study of NDE’s. I listened to podcasts, read books. “ I was told I had to return to earth to finish my work… agreement… the love I felt was perfect and enormous and not human love. Many come back with gifts. Still fascinates me. Jesus fascinates me more.
All will be well, and all matter of things will be well…JNorich

This presentation has a quite poetic flow to it. Bravo and many thanks Dr. Hart!
Very sorry for your loss, but it's good to see you on here. I pray for you and your family. Go Orioles.⚾
Always a delight to see an upload on this channel!
You should do more lectures on different subjects like this, on your youtube channel! I really enjoyed it
😢 for Roland. Beautifully read and great sound quality.:)
David, I have read most of your books (including lots of articles) and they have been fundamental for my faith. I'm looking forward to reading this in black-and-white. As far as I am concerned these texts are meant to be read silently. My short-term-memory is a very short-time-memory and tends to exclude already the beginning of a long sentence. In the meantime I will listen to this some more times just as the written text has to be read repeatedly.
I can identify and empathise with you regarding the cognitive impediment of short-term memory . Like you also , DBH's addresses and treatises have reinforced the intellectual
underpinning of my faith , but likewise often I too need to review what was expressed previously for a coherent understanding of a particular point or topic .
Gratitude
"Whereof one cannot speak, one must remain silent." Thus, in terms of theological knowing anyway, I am neither of Paul nor Apollo, but of Wittgenstein.
Thanks for sharing this here aswell

As I rewatch part of this, I wonder, not being an expert in this area, what you think of Apollinarian incarnational theories. I remember years ago, Bill Craig got a lot of crap for adopting what he said was Apollinarian view of the incarnation. But what he was trying to do was to show that the Son, or at least the rational/cognitive aspect of the Son, was the same sort of thing as the human soul, and so, when paired with a human body, completed human nature easily. I have always thought it was strange for Craig, an evangelical, to be open to such a view. But I find it compelling in its broad contours.
[From DBH’s guest editor]: Dr. Hart asked me to say that he regards Craig’s view as somewhat absurd, and that it is absolutely the opposite of what he regards as a coherent Christology. The lectures to follow should make it clear why he says that.
Did anyone else get 6 adverts in the first 15 minutes? I ask because a lot of creators don’t realise that TH-cam is filling their videos with ads.
There shouldn’t be any.
@@leavesinthewind7441 They’re sneaking ads onto videos without the creator’s permission, David. This has happened to a few channels I’m subscribed to. There maybe something in the creator’s studio that you have to switch, or maybe contact TH-cam, I’m not sure.
@@onepartyrouleI’ll look into it.
Also seeing ads.
Fantastic.

Did you say that resurrection of the body was in keeping with the hellenistic aspiration? And yet whrn they heard it from Paul they mock him?
Is there a transcript Is there a transcript by any chance? Would love to read, don't seem to be able to grasp this in spoken word
I feel your pain. While I still grasp much of it, my mind absorbs the written word much more readily.
I go to settings and adjust the speed to 75%. Yes, can sound odd, but I can assimilate either that way
David,
