    I just made my first pincushion in about five minutes after I picked out and cut the 4 squares, I love it and how simple. I bought a Stanley Tool Box today to use as a sewing kit' ( Walmarts $15,.00, 1/2 the price of a real sewing kit ), it is about 19 inches long by 9 inches wide and came with a smaller box inside to holed all my threads and needles, with 2 smaller compartments on the outside of the lid for bobbins and such, and I am going to Velcro the pincushion to the inside lid to be used for my pins. Great video. Thx Leslie

    This was a lifesaver. I spent hours making a little notions tote and wanted to put a pincushion in the bottom. This was perfect, cute and quick! Thanks.

    And if you add a false bottom to it that has a few magnets, you can just pick it up, swipe it around, and it will pick up any missed pins.

    Brilliant - fast and accurate. No messing and a pretty pin cushion at the end. Well done!

    Just found this - from 2013! One project I make a lot of requires 2 1/2 or 3 inch cut out corners. Couldn't bring myself to toss these little "waste" squares...now I know what I'll do with them!

  • @debbymccauley4774
    @debbymccauley4774 6 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    Cute, use 1/4" presser foot or edge of your regular foot. Crushed walnuts are better filling as they keep pins sharp. Crushed walnuts can be purchased at petco or pet smart...cheaper thete than a quilt shop

  • @learntocrochet1
    @learntocrochet1 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I have these little square left over from another project - they are 3" - I used them and my pincushions were just a bit smaller. I used buttonhole thread for sewing through the middle and attaching the button.

    Thanks for the tutorial. I was looking for a quick cute pin cushion pattern. This did the trick. I like the way you match the end seams on the diagonal and turn. It's much quicker and cleaner product than using triangles.

    what a great idea, I need to make a pincushion for a swap that has to finish 4 inches square. What size fabric squares would I need to make this finish at 4 inches ? thanks for great video, but would have preferred to hear you than the music.

    • @vivjay67
      @vivjay67 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You need to measure your fabric so from corner to corner is about 4.5". You'll use .5 as seam allowance, so the corner to corner ends up 4". This when folded in a triangle becomes one of the edges.

    no need to do all that marking,just use the edge of your presser foot as a guide.Please leave out the music,or at least turn it down.Oh and crushed walnut shells are a better stuffing,they add weight and sharpen your pins and needles at the same time.

    How did u make that button?

    • @dianasilva4464
      @dianasilva4464 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      They come in silver metal. Craft stores. Two PC sets. Top and bottom. You cut out the circle of fabric and wrap it over the top. The ends hold taught by metal teeth you pull the fabric over. Then snap on the bottom. Smaller sizes hold more buttons per pack but they come larger as well with fewer buttons. Like $2

    • @mumblesandwool1243
      @mumblesandwool1243 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      eh. there are tons of things i. this video that you could not do to make it quicker. like only use 2 pieces (or one) of fabric, and sew the sides up.
      using less pins or not pins at all,
      not marking where the seam allowance is.
      using crished walnut shells instead of stuffing that way you can just pour it in through a funnel. those are just a couple. i could probably knock a simplified version of it out in about 2 and a half minutes.
