This is an Indian Ghazal Fan. I watched this video only 2 days ago and I have listened to it now more than 10 times. From what I get from the comments, Ustad Rais Khan composed this version. Earlier I knew only about Pankaj Udhas's version. But I tried listening to Udhas's song again. It is too bland and much more novice like as compared to Rais Khan's. Every time I listen to this ghazal, I always find something new. The timing is just too good. His voice is mesmerizing.
Rais khan was a genius on earth. Unparallel and one of a kind. Very sensitive and fine musician. We thank lord for sending you to this world and giving us the gift of heavenly music. God bless your soul khan sahib.
sorry to be off topic but does someone know a tool to log back into an instagram account?? I somehow forgot my login password. I would love any assistance you can offer me
Ustad Rais Khan is in a league of his own. The other 'popular' versions of this classic are nowhere near this masterpiece. Khan Saheb has that indefinable ethereal quality about him that imparts an intangible bond with the listener...an all time great!
You might change your view if you listen to the same ghazal performed by Maqbool Sabri Sahab, having said that Ustad Rais Khan is a masterclass in his own right.
Wow, its a great style of singing subtly touching Chote Ghulam Ali khan's style...Did not know that Ustad Rais Khan sang too....Always mesmerised with his Sitar....
This is the best version of this ghazal I've heard back in the late 70s! And have heard a few since then. Everyone has a different ear for music, but for me this is just SENSATIONAL!! BRILLIANT!!
kay Kaur You are right. Ustad Rais Khan is the original composer of this song. He composed this music in 1965 on actor Pran's request. We lost this gem two weeks ago. He was one of the musicians of great composer Madan Mohan. You can listen to his Sitar play in Mera Saaya, Woh Kaun Thi etc. I am not sure when this was recorded. He looks so young
I hv become fan of ustad ji. His another ghazal 'deewaron se mil kar' just steals my heart.. And 'ghar laut k' keeps flowing in my mind long after i listen to it
This Great professional performance at the time, bringing and reflections to our youthful days in Kenya, with Deepak on guitarist performance and composition was once a lifetime...which we watched on Video recorded on VCR ...them days!!!!
I first heard it in 1979 on BBC. Always keep wanting to hear it agian. It was in a hindi weekly programme. Only item ever that was repeated the following week by public demand.
This song was first written in 1969 by Qateel Shifaee sung by Mala for film Naz starring Mohammed Ali and Shabnam.Music director was Mastreo Nisar Bazmi.
wah Raees khan sahab maan gai app ko ! kia awaz hai ! kiya ghahriee ! manay tu app ko ap ki old age me dekha ! leckin sir app tu jawani may hero thay ! kia baat hai >
This person is the ORIGINAL. The rest are as usual in our part of world, that is India are copy cats and may have taken the advantage of this person rather than truly appreciating him. I listened to this song FIRST TIME in UK and then I herd the blooming copies. Shame. When are we going to give credit to those who are truly original?
Indians also have and had great giants of ghazal over the years..... So saying copy etc doesn't make sense in that case___ can be a tribute in a way....
Watched this when it was broadcast on theBBC when I was a child. ❤
So, how old are you now? And where do you reside?😇
I’m 56 and live in the Uk.

Ustad Raees Khansahib died today. May Allah grant him a place in Jannat. He was a great sitarist and he will be greatly missed.
Is he the same raees Khan sahab who plays sitar?
@@AmanExplorerBoy - Yes he is the one and the same.

अली अक़बर भाई यह रिकॉर्डिंग 1966 की है बी बी सी के लिए।
You are indeed a great ustad, I salute you sir. Fantastic. Other versions are pale and tasteless when compared to you sir.
What a great man have command on his all values.
Kia baath, you are spot on , the lower deliberate speed is mezmerizing and allows for more Vocals effects and Muchanas
He is basically one of the greatest Sitar Nawaz of Pakistan.
same family root as ustad vilayat khan -----

रईस ख़ान साहिब ने यह बी बी सी के लिए 1966 में रिकॉर्ड कराया था। ओरिजनल कंपोज़ीशन इन्हीं की है।

@baresi1972 i am also searching for this beautiful gazal if u have got please upload it.
The original. The rest of singers just copied this good artist. That is the SHAME.
This Was Written For A Film And Composed By Music Legend Nisar Bazmi Sahab
We should respect every artist. Gulshan Ara Syed may have sung this song better but you do not have to be sarcastic or rude to this artist or anyone.
Which series was he appearing on? Is this Gharbar or Nai Zindagi Naya Jeevan?
waah ji waah
