I've got a sin to add to your list: in chapter 2 right before you get to the warden tower, there are two enemies going in a circular motion and there is a chance to stealth kill an enemy, at this point no tutorial has been given saying you can do this yet a button prompt shows up to let you do the action, but if you do the action the game gets angry and spawns in two more enemies behind you as well as getting the enemy in front of you aggroed as well. in short: the game punishes you for doing a stealth kill because it didn't tell you to do that yet
@@memecore9961yes and no. Last I knew, depending on the equation being solved, there may only be one valid method of solving it. This seems like shoddy game design
One thing that super bugged me about the whole "alpha" situation is that Ferris isn't one. Mahler explains that Patient Zero developed a symbiosis with the biophage and was "able to control it, remain in control of their mental faculties", and Cole calls Ferris his Alpha, yet Ferris loses control of the virus halfway through the fight. Yet, Jacob takes a sample of him and creates the antibodies to treat Dani. So not only did they not take the sample from somebody who conquered the virus (Patient Zero, hanging in the lab like a bear skin rug), but the sample the did take wasn't from some supreme being but just somebody who took longer to turn (which isn't even unprecedented: Edward Bates managed to remain lucid enough for conversations at least a few weeks after infection. Why wasn't he the alpha? Oh right, he succumbed in the long run and what they thought were "promising results" were just an uncommonly long incubation time, _exactly like with Ferris_ )
No I think Ferris was still an Alpha as he was talking about how "there is always a price" after transforming. That's probably meant to signify he still had his humanity.
@@chrisdaughen5257 yeah the evolution of the biophage was bound to significantly alter biomass and appearance however ferries still appeared to retain sentience. To me his transformation from human to creature is kind of like a caterpillar cocooning then becoming a butterfly… but to a much more disgusting degree
Worse yet is there's no actual real information on patient zero, who he was etc. For all intents this could have been some sort of fluke or it didn't happen. The virus at this point seems to do whatever the hell it wants other than creating unique enemies beyond 3 varieties. This powerful seedy organization invested billions only for some human to flux it up by creating mass outbreaks instead of doing what the researchers wanted and just experiment. It's the cult behavior shit that caused the bad guy to believe he'd get the same result if they just unleash. All of this was done on a whim with literally no idea what would happen and I get that's the point but then lets ay nothing happened. What then. And true enough nothing happened. Ferris got nothing. He wouldn't even have been there to physically collect any data as the facility is overrun by the infection. I get they would have teams specialized for it like they did on Europa but there's billions of dollars worth of assets including the alien on that planet and blowing up everything for some reason was smart because he didn't want any of this getting out.
Sin 11: Don't forget that Starkiller specifically days that "The Warden wants him alive," and we never find out WHY the Warden would ever possibly want that.
Dead Space wasn't just about jump scares and combat. There was also the constant dread of being in a vast, empty ship, knowing you could literally get attacked anywhere at any time. As your allies die or betray you, and as Isaac himself goes insane, that nagging vulnerability only gets worse even as your arsenal gets better.
Also the Remake Dead Space was discussed in the community for having a "Pacing Director", like the AI Director in Left 4 Dead. If you go too fast, then the game spawns the enemy in front of you. If you go too slow it spawns it behind you. The game hid this adaptive encounter and it adds up to the dread Isaac feel fighting an intelligent enemy.
I mean that can work if it's written well. The protagonists and the main villain of "The Fifth Element" never actually share any screentime with each other. Problem is TCP isn't written well at all.
The warden will never be as wacky and charismatic as Danik from dead space 3 cause I legitimately love that crazy unitologist and it’s so satisfying to kill him in dead space 3 but in Callisto the Warden he’s so generic at least Danik from dead space 3 had the excuse of being a pretty fun legitimate threat
TH-cam's new changes are so bad, I am firmly confident that they will be rolled back. This isnt fucking TH-cam Kids we are on. Game videos for adult games is a huge genre and market, killing that screws over way too many peoples livelihoods.

Dead Space made iconic creatures that completely twisted the Human form into something barely recognizable. In this new game, the creators of Dead Space do the exact opposite by making every enemy a generic Walking Dead Extra, with the most creative creature being the final boss, who’s mechanics don’t go farther then bullet sponge.
I really dislike the character design in Callisto it’s so bad cause Isaac and his silhouette is so recognizable and iconic but jacobs suit it’s abysmal it is lazy character design barley recognizable completely generic and less relatable than Isaac cause you can sympathize with Isaac but you don’t care about Jacob surprisingly Isaac is faceless mostly for dead space 1 but you feel for him rather than Jacob who is just so generic that’s my main gripe with character design cause everyone else is generic except for Sam Witwer who is sadly wasted and the enemy designs are awful
Fun Fact: Part of that is that the Necromorphs were unsurprisingly, modeled after scenes of medical gore, especially car wrecks and industrial accidents. That’s why everything on them is so mangled and broken.
@@astartesrex not a very 'fun' fact. But yes i already knew about this. I wouldnt be surprised if they didnt follow up on this design philosophy for this game.
Dani reminds me of Vicky from Dead Rising 4, as in she is the annoying female lead who works against you for most of the game only for you to "sacrifice" yourself to save her at the end. I swear the next game that puts in a character like this should have 50 sins removed if your character just draws a gun and blows her away out of the blue in a cutscene.
I literally have no idea why jacob sacrificed himself at the end for her lmao she was a bitch all game and literally the reason he ended up in the prison to begin with i would have just left her to die
I mean, it was pretty believable for Jacob, who has been struggling with the fact that he helped kill his copilot friend by transporting a biological weapon, who also sees the memories of Dani and the fact that he also helped kill her little sister by transporting that same biological weapon, to sacrifice himself to try and make amends for the friend he helped kill and the countless people he helped kill by transporting the first weapon.
@@ChaseJonas75 Seems like kind of a reach considering if Jacob didnt decide to deliver the biological weapon the secret space illuminati would have just found another person that could have delivered it. Its like saying gun store owners should be arrested because the gun they sold to someone was used in a killing spree.
@@ChaseJonas75 counterpoint she is more responsible for his friends death than him as far as he can tell till the mind meld and all he knows about her when she gives him a gun is that she locked in solitary got him sent to this prison and made it so had to crash his ship which killed his friend he has no reason not to kill her and futhor more who cares that he was smuggling he was smuggling for the UJC to slip past UJC it's literaly not a moral quandry if the navy asks you to smuggle past the navy that's not your problem he didn't know what it was and he had no reason to care cause quite frankly who would
@@ChaseJonas75not really though? Jacob had no idea what he was transporting he isn't really to blame for any of this yet the game tries to make it out like it was all his fault for a cool twist bc the other games had them. In reality bro was just doing his job got fucked over, went through actual hell to try and escape only to give his life for the person that is the reason he's even in that hell in the first place. Sure he may feel responsibility bc he was technically the one to deliver the virus but I'd also like to point out he's not the only person capable of doing this? And again he had no idea what he was transporting was some super virus that could wipe out humanity so the whole twist doesn't mean anything bc he didn't know. If he was directly involved then maybe but as of now he is just a small cog in a much bigger machine one that could be easily replaced what happens still happens with or without Jacob there it's not his fault.
I hate the layout of this game so much sometimes, it’s impossible to go the wrong way on purpose in my search for loot because apparently, going three corridors down instead of taking the large open door ahead of me is where I’m SUPPOSED to go, so now I have to backtrack just to loot!
Funny how Dead Space solved this by just Letting the player see which way the actual path is with the wayfinder and then being able to go and explore in the opposite direction.
Holy hell I feel you on this! Big giant room obviously the way to continue the story better take this small normal looking hallway with a ladder going up.....wait the the OBVIOUS ARENA ROOM IS THE LOOT ROOM!!!????!!!
@@RenegadeJames Idk what games you've been playing but they're not "literally almost every other game". I've played loads that weren't like that at all. If dani was meant to be the main character she would be. This was done because it came out in 2022 and naturally the woman had to be tougher, stronger, and more competent than all men around her
@@trahapace150 but in this case it makes sense that she is better at shooting and hacking since she actively was attacking UFC. I would say that Jacob is better at navigating his environment and is physically stronger which makes sense since he has been running cargo ships for awhile. I think her character isn’t even close to a Mary Sue or anything like that. But sure, go off king, you tell those writers that you don’t like no strong woman.
Dani is like a 5'2 asian woman im surprised her arms didn't snap in half in that one cutscene when she punches jacob in the jaw she probably hits about as hard as a 5 year old with a socker bopper
Glad to see i wasn’t the only one getting that vibe. The story treats Jacob like a side character in his own game, stuck fumbling around with no idea what’s going on while this girl boss just breezes through everything and shows up randomly throughout the game just to remind you how much better she’s doing than Jacob is
I love when a game is so confident to drop a sequel cutscene and i for sure know it probably wont happen, ill play the game when it hits $20 or less maybe

It’s crazy how many people defend these games that have no business being this unacceptably bad considering the obscene amounts of money poured into them from triple A game studios
I agree, but can this game really be considered AAA? As far as I know, it's made by a startup studio with some veteran talent there & published by some oddball company.
@@embracerodusk2537 What even is an AAA game anyway? If we define it solely by the size of the studio or the amount of money it pulls in then Candy Crush Saga counts as AAA, with its publisher King Games being the unsung third part of Activision-Blizzard-King.
@@Jasm783 Uncharted 4, red dead redemption 1 and 2, Gran Turismo 7, GTA IV, GTA V, RE2 remake, Devil May Cry 5. Just my opinion tho but those are what many consider triple a games.

TH-cam is insane with its restrictions. There is difference between IRL violence and game violence, but on of biggest IT companies of the world steadily walks towards views of some anti-game fanatics, who are ready to blame everything bad happens to children on videogames. As for Callisto Protocol, they managed to screw it up badly. With all graphical fidelity and violence it lacks emotional impact and combat system designed for horror experiernce. Those dodges are ridiculos. You are chosen one, Isaac, I mean, Jakob. There is no spoon. Seriously, one step further lies bullet time and wall running.
Personally, Callisto's Jacob being a cheap copy of Dead Space's Isaac Clarke is a massive insult. Because Isaac Clarke is a really relatable person and in honor of Isaac Asimov whose words I live for these days. I twisted my head learning programming, build and cooked my computers to code, infuriated people and had altercations to get my grades proper, lost my mind in the process, had to struggle to get my touch with non IT people back, paid extra so I don't repeat my mistakes in graduation, and what am I graduating into... a bunch of businessmen hating humans as much as they love money. This is how Isaac Clarke became insane, I felt it - and Callisto Protocol really forgone that foundation from the story.
Honestly even with Babylons fall being such a trainwreck I think this is the worst game of 2022. Cause people had high expectations for this one and what we got was infuriating
I think my favorite part of your videos might be the intro, because you're able to execute a setup and payoff for what you're trying to say but also give us a good handle on your opinion of the game from the get-go. It works really well.
you forgot the biggest sin of all. One i think is worth 100 sins. They took a horror genre that had some unique combat where you had to dismember your enemies and use their own limbs to kill them... to a turn based boxing match. Literally the entire game is you holding A and D. Then doing a 3 hit combo. Then holding A and D again. It works on every single enemy including bosses with the exception of 3 rare enemies. By simply holding A and D you are immortal and nothing in the game can touch you. I beat the entire game on Hard without any of the bosses landing a single hit on me. I sold every item the game gave me and used it to upgrade my melee. I didn't need any healing, batteries or ammo. The entirety of the game's combat felt useless since the developers basically gave me GodMode from the tutorial. How to deal with any enemy: 1) Are there spikes nearby? Use the scroll wheel on your mouse to quickly throw an enemy without pulling them. (scroll down and up) This means you will drain only 2-3 points off your battery. The enemy will die instantly from the spikes. Even if they don't you can repeat this process 5-10 more times. 2) No spikes no problem. Simply press A and D 3 or 2 times. When they stop Hit them 3 times, shoot them, throw them, use a heavy attack and they're dead. 3) annoying parasites/exploding creeps? scroll wheel. they die instantly. don't waste ammo. 4) Boss fight? Repeat A and D until they get tired. Melee them 3 times, repeat until dead.. 5) Predator/invisible bastards? scroll wheel, melee, repeat. Oh and if you feel like your reflexes are dead and can't be bothered to time A and D. Go into the Settings and enable No QTE and Auto Dodge. No QTE means enemies can't grab you and Auto Dodge means you just have to hold A and the game dodges both ways. If you die in this game to an enemy, even on the hardest difficulty, I assume you're mentally disabled in some way. Even Rock, Paper, Scissors has more engaging combat than this game.
I like that no QTE and Auto dodge bit, it's a nice accessibility feature. But for real nobody should play this and we should forget about it within the next 3 months.
@@TonySki i mean the game shouldn't have any QTE to begin with. It's a lazy game mechanic to bypass putting any actual effort into combat animations and interactions. Why spend 3 weeks animating and rendering a cool scene, when you can just slap a QTE on it in 2 hours.
Also the game stops being "turn based" once you get the first gun and grp, you can restand them after your combo with a lock-on shot or grabbing them with grp and letting them go quickly
I think it would have been more interesting if they actually made dodging having a timing window, similar to parries in other the games. The fact that you can do basically nothing and be god sucks any fun out of it
At around the 23-minute mark of this video, there is a cut scene that has the big monster Jacob has to face several times show up behind Danny. This monster is not stealthy and is clearly visible but neither Jacob nor Danny notices until it is about a yard away from them.
I wondered about the health bars for a while myself but then I realized that they are there for the scientists to monitor the test subjects and then after they die they can extract the memories for data or inject them into another subject.
maybe this is visible in other parts of the game but at 25:45 the subtitles say "guide" but the audio says "control". Audio not matching subtitles normally bugs me a little but it's even worse in this case, since "guide" and "control" mean *very* different things. From the outside it just seems like something that would be a two second fix - have the actress read the lines again or edit the subtitle text.
The biggest problem for me with this game is the fact that it’s almost impossible to reposition, you can’t really escape and get back into the fight on better terms because all the monster things are quicker than you. It makes a decently fun game frustrating to play especially when the melee combat (something they really want you to use) is clunky and really only made for single monsters
14:47 That weren't the zombies. That have been some very angry prisoners who did that. There is an audio log that hints to that in that room. Of course, that doesn't explain how they did it so fast and with so many.
I was looking forward to this game, but once other gamers got their hands on The Callisto Protocol and shared their opinions, my anticipation for the game crashed to the ground at 100 miles per hour.
Is there any particular reason for Jacob getting his head shaved? I assumed it is generally done in prisons to avoid spreading lice or something, except A) other inmates walk perfectly fine with hair on their heads, and B) he still has a beard.
The reason places like the army or prisons shave your hair is to give everyone a homogenous, unified and easily identifiable look (turn everyone into npcs basically) and also to avoid spreading hair-bound parasites since there's so many people bundled together but in this game they forgot to shave dani and like 90% of the side characters lmao
One thing that bugged me were the security robots. They kept showing off how effective they were at killing inmates, but you only hide from one and fight two for sellable items in the first quarter of the story. I thought they would be around for the whole game, but devs likely cut most of them because they didn't mesh well with how you fought regular enemies.
Actual the fog and bad camera of old games helped to enhance the horror. "Show not tell" is usually better writing. But in horror games it actual should say: "Not show and also not tell" Many horror games old and new struggle because they reveal the horror to easily. PT and Silent hill are more creapy than modern games because the player doesn't know all the time what is hunting him. A second mistake many horror films and games make. To be confusing for the sake of being confusing. A good written horror story is mysterious but not confusing. It is unpredictable but once the story is over everything makes sense and you unterstand what the monster did even if you not unterstand all his ability hence even know excacly what it is.
Love the take. Recently watched Skinamarink and played DS Remake so this nails the point. Being confusing as to "hell in a children's mind" and "trapped in a cosmic mexican standoff against the government and aliens" is different from confusing to the point it's inconsistent. Callisto Protocol is the worst latter.
I disagree. “Less is more” is just lazy af and shows the devs can’t be fucked to show you the design. There is a way to make horror games scary without making them into frustrating tank control horror or glorified walking simulators, and I will die on the hill that combat in reality enhances the horror of the monster can take a beating and STILL charge you like it’s nothing.
@@christheforsaken4287 I guess you not played Signalis than. This excacly uses simplicity and the players imagination to enhance the horror. Hence it works a lot with limitations in the gameplay to make the player feel stressed about the items he picks up and the fights he takes. Hence it even punishes the player with a worse end if he speedruns or plays to passiv, rewards him for failing often and taking damage. But i guess it also makes good use of music and sound and actually not offers one true answer to the lore but rather offers possibilitys that could be true. Reaching the point of true cosmic horror with this tricks to create a lore that can make sense but also make you question if this is not also a red hering you falled for.
The inventory system drove me nuts. It was so limited for most of the game. Way too many guns and no way to fully upgrade anything in a timely manner. The assault rifle was virtually useless. The checkpoints were annoying. No true autosave. There better be a game plus feature coming real soon.
I swear the machine gun was made only to fight the final boss. The other enemies are too fast for it to reliably hit, but Ferris is so big, you're bound to hit him with it. The tactical pistol has to be the worst, it's "super fast" fire rate is too slow and does not make up for it's low damage. I think upgrades were alright though. You can't afford to get every gun's alternate fire mode (the final upgrade), but you can definitely max out all their stats if you loot everything .... at the cost of not upgrading the baton and GRP.
Within 30 minutes of playing this game I realized I hated the story! Within one hour of playing this game I realized the combat was awful! And Within an hour and a half I already requested a refund There are some people out there saying they can’t wait for the sequel because they’ll learn from their mistakes… My guys the heart and spine of this game are awful there’s nothing they can do to fix this crap without completely changing damn near everything
Yeah this is one of those games that is just foundationally broken. The fact that they had to patch the game days after launch to speed up the animations only goes to show how poorly designed it was. Ain't no amount of patches going to save this mess.
@@leonid123ful when did he say he likes cod and the game is only 8 hours long he played a 1/4 of it and realized it’s trash. Name 4 reasons why this game should be considered good lmao, I’ll wait?
"What do they even process wood for here?" Probably some middle manager's red oak desk and mahogany wall panels in their office. But they're really fickle so they go through alot of trees as the manager's taste changes daily.
6:10 the life are placement is one of the few things that makes sense in this game. The health display isn’t for the individual it’s for the authorities monitoring the prisoners> the back of the head is the least likely spot to be blocked from view in daily activities , put the bar anywhere one the front and it would be blocked by any number of activities like tie shoes or drink water
Not even was capable of stopping the outbreaks, but it's clear that Black Iron had multiple ships delivering supplies along with their disease. Had Jacob of not delivered the cargo, Black Iron already had other people doing it. He's efforts wouldn't have mattered.
This is why the gaming world is in trouble. Bad knock off games, bad story, crazy no sense plot points, lazy combat system… the scary thing is that this game seemed complete on release. No original ideas anymore. Love you shred these to pieces though so every cloud and all that.
2:49 he sinned this but I actually think it might be an intentional small detail. They all might be sweating because the heat’s cranked because they are on a frozen moon in space.
You moved the annotations at the end in front of the next video emblems, so I can’t figure out what next videos there are, but I vote for the one on the Right ending in “quiem”
I had tried to buy this game from Amazon on three separate occasions, each time something happened where my purchase was not able to be completed. Now, I'm watching this and feel like maybe I dodged a bullet🤷
Besides the technical hiccups it annoyed me how Dani was able to get through the infected without a weapon and how ferris kept finding you despite going through extreme situations.
watching the streams I hadn't realized the game's story was THIS nonsensical. makes me wonder how this shit gets released in this state (not even counting the performance issues on PC).
Great video, I had a blast watching you play it on Twitch too. God willing there won't be any sequels to have to worry about the title no longer fitting. Fuck this game, fuck this game in particular. :)
I think the Warden was actually there before the final Ferris fight. He just left and used his hologram to talk with Jacob after he won. The DLC will likely involve Jacob following Cole to wherever he is and learning about the secret society. It was really weird to introduce it at the 90% mark, but it's clear the devs are adding the ending with the season pass. Also, if Cole needed a sample of the Alpha so bad, why didn't he take one before the fight so he wouldn't need to ask Jacob if he won? Maybe he did and Cole asked Jacob to give him the sample as a test of faith because he wanted Jacob to join the cult for some reason.
You CAN walk around when listening to Audio Logs, just pause and unpause - still a silly thing to have a work around for though. Hope Dead Space Remake is better overall 👍
after waiting for 3 agonizing hours for it to download because to my suprise it is a 96 GB game, I was greeted with a crash, I boot the game again and I am greeted with a 20 minute shader compiling, then with a pay walled "final chapter" and a "season pass" again...in a single player game. This is enough for me to not even bother playing it. This is sepcifically a spiritual succesor to Dead Space 3 aka a mediocare dead space game infested with pointless microtransactions and a pay waleld real ending.
yea I was really hoping that was some sort of inside joke with the devs. Got me kinda worried since Epic games is publishing the next Alan wake game from remedy
Now that I notice, the interaction between people and callisto's outside atmosphere is one of the stupidest things in the world, one second someone is suffocating 10 seconds later everybody is breathing fresh mountain air
Man, come on, there was so much more shit to talk about: 1. The setting - Why is it based on Callisto? How is it relevant? What changes, plot-wise, if the whole story took place in Alaska, or Siberia? 2. Jacob is a non-character. At least Isaac in the first game was silent, like Dr. Freeman, but they decided to fully voice him, but give no agency. He doesn't react to any of the creepy shit, like people turning into pizza-faces in front of him. Sure he can show a frightened expression once, or twice during jump scares, but we don't see him internalizing what's happening to him. 3. Side characters - the whole character of Elias is a joke, the dude spent a shit ton of time in this "prison", yet never heard or mentions that there were some tests on the prisoners. We don't know anything about him, can't relate, don't really care about him because of this. So when he dies, all you can say is - meh. Dani is the by far the worst thing with this game, a self-entitled bitch, whose character development is replaced with being an obnoxious piece of poop. I never understood why Jacob is being such a soy-boy and didn't try to kick her ass. All we know is that she boarded his ship, somehow managed to crash it, killed his colleague, got him locked-up, got him locked-up in the SHU, butchered Elias, threatened to shoot him on a snow mobile, and constantly yapping about him being responsible. Say what you want about the new trend in western pop culture, but these types of characters are just toxic. 4. Nothing makes sense. Why did the evil Warden sent virus to Europa? How did they manage to crash the ship by opening the airlock, if they were already in space and outside of the gravitational pool? Callisto's surface temp is -116 C and gravity 1/8th of that of Earth, yet you constantly vault over obstacles, and the opening cinematic show them comfortably standing with just snorkeling masks. 5. A fucking fish monster on a frozen moon? Seriously? 6. Ever-changing technology, without any setup, Dani manages to connect to a 75 year old miner corpse and relives his memories, later Jacob "synchronizes" with Dani. Why? How? When was it established that this is common technology? What is the purpose? 7. Inconsistent gameplay mechanics - you waste 10 years to apply a health syringe, but just pick up +35 health packs that apply instantly. How does that work? 8. Callisto credits, even in an abandoned miner town that's been buried for 75+ years. And much, much more.
God I love Isaac so much ❤ and I care for him in both dead space 1 and 2 heck even 3 but Jacob I just did not care I’m not a fan of josh duhamel I think he’s a good guy probably in real life but his character Jacob gives me so much non emotion I don’t care 🤷♂️ for him when he dies and his story is so generic the death scenes when he die aren’t that exciting or scary just obnoxious and bloated they’re pretty tame to me cause I’ve played games with a better gore death system like mk11 surprisingly I feel more scared in mortal kombat fatalities than Callisto lackluster death scenes cause you need to build tension that is what makes me scared to play outlast cause there’s tension and real fear from something within but Callisto is just shallow you don’t need particularly gory death scenes to build fear cause outlast is a gory game but your really scared of becoming another victim but in Callisto I could care less for Jacob
The Warden and his gold mask society is the weirdest thing. Audio logs suggest the attack on Europa inspired him to cause the outbreak in the prison even though everyone died in that attack with no evidence of people mutating. What did he see? It's not like he saw another Alpha on Europa. And their whole motivation for easier interstellar travel is stupid. There's no explanation given why this is such a big issue; technology seems advanced enough to make trucking an interstellar industry, so I'm sure modern tech would be enough to colonize planets. Mutants may be more resistant to harsher environments, but people still need to be capable of building ships for space travel. One chapter is even dedicated to showing how mutants can still freeze to death. And it's infuriating that they never say why Jacob was made an inmate. I get it, Jacob's arrival wasn't big enough for the Warden to postpone the protocol, but the question was brought up enough times to make some players expect it to be revealed in a twist or something. It feels like Jacob was given an implant to erase his memory of his real cargo given how Mahler knows how to fill in the blanks (so she knew he had memory issues. How?). The worst thing is, these issues might be addressed in the DLC ending.
Point 1: the outbreak could Bork the whole planet if it got out-which would raise the stakes significantly. Actually, this makes me think of Resistance from the PS3 console. Points 2,3, and 4: pretty much, yeah. The game doesn’t really do a good job of making us care about these people or being consistent with the rules of the setting of Callisto-is the atmosphere breathable or not!? Point 5: where else would you find an alien fish monster? That looks exactly like one of the chimera from Resistance, BTW. Point 6: yeah, he mentioned that-I assumed it was because the CORE device was supposed to be something else that the stupid gold-masked guys created and wanted to use for colonization so the original miners were the test group-but there’s nothing in the game that supports this assumption, so I chalk it up to poor writing. Point 7: I effing hated that-it made no sense whatsoever. Point 8: yeah, that was definitely dumb. Should have been “raw materials” since your store is a 3D printer. Though that would beg the question of why not just take everything that isn’t nailed down and bring it to the printer? Maybe they should have just stuck with credits since a government currency would be less likely to change in a single century. Here’s a point 9: How TF does Farris get back up for the ending jump scare? Or, is he a hallucination? Point 10: if the armor is reducing the damage you take, why do med packs start healing for less afterwards? It’s not like the med pack heals the armor. Point 11: why would you carry two shotguns that require different calibers of ammunition-you’re just effing up your inventory management. Point 12: Why TF is the handle for the guns removable? I could get removability for maintenance, but not for an active combat scenario-you’re just making it easier to fumble something when swapping weapons. It’s not like you’re saving a lot of weapon weight, either. Just get a grip for each gun you have and save 3 seconds of time on weapon swaps!
@@Xenobears @Xenobears @Xenobears For point 1 - there was this really old game The Thing, based on the movie, and not only did it better convey the parasitic infection with special gameplay mechanics to test your NPC partners, but it put restriction on how long you can stay outside because of cold. In the first Dead Space, the space setting made sence, because of futuristic weapons and zero G/ kinesis puzzles. Here they don't utilize Callisto at all, you just see metal corridors and brown caves with Earth gravity. For point 8 - you are exactly right and in Prey (2017) they actually made it into a great game mechanic. For point 12 - I just realised - they stole the concept from Star Wars Republic Commando, but made it worse.
So where still on the shitting on Silent Hill train, the PS1 era visuals worked so well because there trying to emulate real life through the lens of limited tech so you get an environment that's both familiar and alien, also those games worked by showing you things that represented sex or death without showing you it working on a physiological level, when is he going to realize Silent Hill 1-3 are masterpieces made and written by actual talented people who understand horror and unlike most hacks don't mistake jumps scares for horror.
Some easy fixes to work the evolution conspiracy group into the plot for the next game/story DLC: 1: make the CORE tech part of their research. A device that can literally download someone’s entire life of memories and share it would probably fit well with a transhumanist plan. 2: show us some of the alternative plans that the group worked on and why they were deemed inferior to the biophage mutation-like cyborg technology. 3: show the warden competing with the others for results. Make them less of a monolith so his irrational choice to wreck the prison makes a little more sense (like he was worried about losing support or getting terminated for lack of results).
Just a bit of space lore. Cooling is actually a huge thing for spacecraft. Because the vacuum of space doesn't conduct any heat, whatever heat you generate inside your ship is basically there to stay. Which means that dispersing that heat somehow is actually a thing that people spend a significant engineering time on. Without cooling you would literally cook to death in time. It is often depicted the other way around though as space being super-cold. It's not cold or hot - it's a vacuum, and as such a near perfect insolator.
@Celatra Space is not cold or hot. Coldness or hotness is purely a function of how quickly the object gets heated or cooled down when placed into an environment. It is literally particles bouncing around and stealing energy from you (coldness) or depositing some of their energy (heat) to your body. The reason why space is "cold" is because when you try measuring the temperature of space with a sensor - you get nothing. Nothing hits the sensor to make it's reading rise up. In the case of more primitive measurements like mercury - you will slowly lose energy into space due to entropy, and you are not gaining anything back from any source. Every material will randomly emit stray particles of energy and they will just fly off. The reason it doesn't work for a space ship is because it generates and absorbs far more heat than it can passively emit in that way. All of the above concerns if you are in the shadow from the sun. If you're in space and you're in direct sunlight without Earth's atmosphere to absorb the majority of that energy - you will heat up.
26:31 it treats it like some shocking reveal as if all the logs we've found didn't tell us this information way before, lol Overall, I can't help but feel the story is so barebones because there was a decision late in development to cut ties to Battlegrounds so it was left with an awkward shell. Paramo is even mentioned by Mahler which was a map in Battlegrounds
Been a sub for a long time. Not a huge fan of the blurred out images. I understand why, but it takes away from your overall presentation. Still I appreciate the work you do, cheers!
He'll likely figure out what to fill in there for future vids. It's unfortunate that TH-cam is severely cracking down on violence in video games that he even has to blur out mildly violent scenes in the first place
While I will admit the game was a disappointment in a few aspects I honestly can’t wait for a sequel so that they can improve what they messed up on and the sad thing about that is a lot of people will put it down And just wait for dead space remake and other popular IP’s while fully ignoring the fact that of all people EA shelved the franchise and then brought it back just so they can milk it again. I just want brand new IP’s to flourish so we don’t have to worry about these AAA companies and their shitty business practices anymore
There's a reason why the "retro" horror games were scary, the low textures and polygon count left more to the imagination...also the dialogue made the world feel more lived in and the characters more relatable.
I remember watching an extremely cheap retro Halloween game with Michael Myers on TH-cam, it's basically where you play as Laurie Strode and babysit neighbor's child while the parents are gone, and you move around the house and start to pick up weird signs. The graphic is so pixelated that it's blurry, the game is like one hour long total, probably some college kid made it. But dear god, when Michael finally appeared at the end and start to chase you around the house, it was sooooooo scary. Way scarier than these billion dollar 3A horror games.
They started with “Horror in Space” and “Celebrities”, and thought “We’ll figure the rest out along the way.” AAA studios have the focus in all the wrong places. No one prototypes anything anymore, do they?
He touched on this, but my biggest sin is that there's wind on Callisto, which requires air, that the moon doesn't have, as evidenced by the suffocation.
@@kylejarnagin5316 Okay, but "thin" could mean a lot of things in astronomy. I mean earth's atmosphere looks thin from space. But fair point. My degree is in astronomy, and we do a lot of rounding. "Thin" is as good as none to me. You're right though. Either way you wouldn't see what the game portrays, so it's still a sin!
this games biggest problem is how its lack of identity cuases so many problems. it tries so hard to be the succesor of deadspace while also trying as hard as hell to not be dead space
This game has potential, but it also has some not-so-great gameplay concepts. Hopefully if there's DLC and a sequel they'll improve everything that was negatively critiqued.🤔
Kind of not minor detail, but shouldn't he die of being electrocuted every time he cuts a cable with his shiv? It's bare metal and i'm pretty sure that most metals conduct electricity well enough to kill a human easily if they're holding onto it when a current passes through.
Yes it should, actual electrical tools have rubber handles to prevent the current from passing through you. Plus most of the time if your working with high voltage you shut it down before you work to prevent this, meaning he should be dead or sustain severe 3rd degree burns as a result
You summed it up perfectly with saying it does everything to stand in your way of having fun. Literally have never been so upset with a game at launch. God awful combat and over the top difficulty had me get a refund within a week of launch.
The thing about the health display being on the back of the neck is explained near the end game, where it's revealed that these were actually used to monitor the status of the patientes and look out they don't pass out on the tests done on them by the prison and lab personal. It's still very ridiculous the whole thing about the callisto protocol and all, but at least there's that.

@@chrisdaughen5257 That sounds more like the 'price' he mentions is his mental degradation.
@@chrisdaughen5257 yeah the evolution of the biophage was bound to significantly alter biomass and appearance however ferries still appeared to retain sentience. It's almost as if nothing about this virus makes sense and exists just a lazy excuse to fight generic monsters.
I assume maybe it’s because of the fact that he is the one carrying the parasites and the warden doesn’t know if Jacob knows he’s transporting it
Says not days.

I like how there were literally like 100 uncensored playthrough videos on TH-cam, and somehow this is a no-no.
I think its to be safe. If one csllisto protocol vidro gets blamed for something, then every other one has to too.
How to deal with any enemy:
1) Are there spikes nearby?
No chance you did the ride in chapter 6 (the one before the first two head boss fight) legit on hard without cheesing and throwing them off lmao
That makes a lot of sense...
That's a cool concept, sure hope it gets used in a game worth your time and money
I’ve never played a game so technically competent while being a mechanical and design disaster.
maybe this is visible in other parts of the game but at 25:45 the subtitles say "guide" but the audio says "control".
It's because it's turn based combat and they lock you into animations that can't be canceled.
That first sin felt like it should've been multiple in one lol
14:47 That weren't the zombies. That have been some very angry prisoners who did that. There is an audio log that hints to that in that room.
Of course, that doesn't explain how they did it so fast and with so many.
Thank you glad someone was paying attention there were at least two audio logs that hint to that moment/ scene.

@@doomslayer1210 Glad that you had at fun with the game.
@@N33eko Yes, exactly. This game is just choke-full with oversights and contradictions.
@@N33eko Im in no way surprised Militaries intentionally try to get their men into a literal NPC look. lol
Of course there was a reason to drag jacob back to his cell, so the devs could pad out the game a bit more.
Actual the fog and bad camera of old games helped to enhance the horror. "Show not tell" is usually better writing. But in horror games it actual should say: "Not show and also not tell"
Many horror games old and new struggle because they reveal the horror to easily.

When you realize that there was always a plan to release it at the prison...a lot of the prisons designs start to make sense 😆

I hated Dani the whole time.
This did not change.
UJC is evil, but she's still an unhinged lunatic.
The Necromorphs made these monsters look like chumps. They were fast and popped outta no f&cking where.
Now that I notice, the interaction between people and callisto's outside atmosphere is one of the stupidest things in the world, one second someone is suffocating 10 seconds later everybody is breathing fresh mountain air
Man, come on, there was so much more shit to talk about:
God I love Isaac so much ❤ and I care for him in both dead space 1 and 2 heck even 3 but Jacob I just did not care I’m not a fan of josh duhamel I think he’s a good guy probably in real life but his character Jacob gives me so much non emotion I don’t care 🤷♂️ for him when he dies and his story is so generic the death scenes when he die aren’t that exciting or scary just obnoxious and bloated they’re pretty tame to me cause I’ve played games with a better gore death system like mk11 surprisingly I feel more scared in mortal kombat fatalities than Callisto lackluster death scenes cause you need to build tension that is what makes me scared to play outlast cause there’s tension and real fear from something within but Callisto is just shallow you don’t need particularly gory death scenes to build fear cause outlast is a gory game but your really scared of becoming another victim but in Callisto I could care less for Jacob
this game would bump up to an instant 9/10 simply if dani got her shit kicked in she sucks so much ass
@@Xenobears
@Xenobears @Xenobears
For point 1 - there was this really old game The Thing, based on the movie, and not only did it better convey the parasitic infection with special gameplay mechanics to test your NPC partners, but it put restriction on how long you can stay outside because of cold.
Some easy fixes to work the evolution conspiracy group into the plot for the next game/story DLC:
1: make the CORE tech part of their research.

The DLC was worse than Alien 3. Everything Jacob did was for nothing and it was all a dream.
You should do heavenly swords it might be a old game but it's still good
Just a bit of space lore. It's not cold or hot - it's a vacuum, and as such a near perfect insolator.
space is cold.....it's at absolute zero, -273.15 celsius or exactly 0 kelvin. however it has no atmosphere and that plays into your point
I hated how stupid the writing in this game was. Someone needs to explain common sense to the developer.

Yes it should, actual electrical tools have rubber handles to prevent the current from passing through you. Plus most of the time if your working with high voltage you shut it down before you work to prevent this, meaning he should be dead or sustain severe 3rd degree burns as a result

The thing about the health display being on the back of the neck is explained near the end game, where it's revealed that these were actually used to monitor the status of the patientes and look out they don't pass out on the tests done on them by the prison and lab personal.
