Thank you for posting this!! I bought the same blender at a consignment store and it worked the first time but then stopped working. I appreciate you linking to the replacement part and showing how to install it. Glad to know this is an easy fix!

I think that's the quickest fix I've seen you do yet, of course that doesn't include the research and parts order. Those kitchenAids aren't usually cheap, so well worth it. Thanks!

+A LeBlanc After reading the comments below I think it broke by having jammed in the bottom before starting that seems like the most logical reason, so the trick is to always start with liquid first then add ice.

It is just that easy. My blender did it about a year ago and it look about as long to fix as doublewide6 shows. Great how to videos man keep it up.

This hard rubber piece is the Achilles Heel of a Kitchenaid blender. My mom used an Oster blender for over 40 years, never went bad or needed a repair. I on my third repair now with this part.

As a Forman in an appliance repair shop I've seen and repaired hundreds of those.A few tips to prevent that. When crushing use, have some water in the container to keep the ice moving and preventing jamming of the blades. After cleaning the container, dry spin the blades, prevents anything from jamming up the cutter shaft in the bearing.Never install or remove the container while the blades are still moving.

+Chum joe Okay thanks hearing this I think my wife probably ran some ice in it and the bearing was seized up. Does the metal thing that engages the coupler come off of the pitcher? What all appliances do you repair? I might have some questions for you in the future. Thanks

I worked for a electric appliance repair Co. where we were factory authorized to repair appliances for about 30 different manufacturers ,including GE, Waring, Norelco, Toastmaster, Oster, Hamilton Beach, ect. ect. As far as blender jars, Waring had a solid glass jar. The blade assembly was replaced in parts. Others like Oster had a ring on the bottom of the jar, you un screwed and replaced the whole blade assembly in one piece. We weren't authorized Kitchen Aid, so I don't remember their blade situation. To keep the blades spinning freely, run hot soapy water in the jar after use, then run it dry on high speed to dry anything left behind between the shaft and the bearing. Glad to be of any help, but you seem to know what you're doing.

What if the piece isn't cut off? My blade was actually lifted when put in the freezer. Is there a way to fix that? Or tighten it?

Hi, good video, thanks. I have the same blender, and the blade assembly is messed up. The blades do not seem to connect with the gear underneath the white assembly housing. I can spin either of them with my finger, but spinning the gear does not spin the blades. Any idea how to fix this or do I need a new blade assembly part. I'm not sure if they're even made any more. Thanks very much.

+Curiosity Well you are supposed to use a soft mallet, but mine is being used to block up my four wheeler off the ground in the garage. Turns out the hammer works quite well.

+Curiosity IF,, you're careful, and if there's an opening under the base, you can jam the fan, if there is one, with a screwdriver then grip what's left of the driver and turn it counter clockwise.

+Chum joe Correction in direction. Turn the coupling clockwise to remove, counter clockwise to install.
