I love how this film kinda explains Amanda's actions later on. After watching Gabriella die she realized that John Kramers methods dont work and some people like Cecilia dont deserve a chance to live.
I couldn't agree more. Amanda had nothing but sympathy for Gabriella, someone she never wanted to be in the games in the first place. To see her die must've shook Amanda to the core.
Cause Amanda also was a drug addict too, she did a lot of terrible things bc of it so she understands why Gabriella participated in the scam, too bad Gabriella died even after she passed her test :/
Amanda has always been the most interesting character in this franchise, after this film we understand her way of acting in Saw 3 and how she set up her traps, she and Jhon have the best relationship in Saw, she deserved more
Amanda seems a lot ‘nicer’ and even kind hearted at times in this film - especially towards Gabriela. I’m actually in the camp of erasing Saw III from canon. I really like this version of Amanda, twisted but compassionate and 100% loyal and devoted to John like a disciple. I want to see her evolve and inherit Jigsaw and apply this morbid morality like her master.
@@darththork99that’s the point of her character, she’s supposed to be mentally ill but still has some humanity deep inside, she was never meant to be a total psycho with no empathy
personally i think in saw 3 she’s so mean because it’s literally the worst day of her life. john is dying and lowkey antagonizing her the whole movie, i also believe she has bpd or something similar that’s making her act out like she hasn’t in the other movies! idk to each their own it just seems to me like she’s scared and trapped so she’s acting out and protecting her “father” :)
I love Amanda and John’s chemistry so much. They have been through so much together and this instalment of the franchise is a perfect way to highlight their relationship ❤ The way he puts his hand on her face reminds me of a father daughter type of relationship, it is truly beautiful. Those people deserved every second of their torture, minus the little boy at the end and I don’t think Gabriela deserved it either.
i lov Amanda I wish she did survive to carry on his legacy just as he had hoped from the very beginning after surviving several traps including the ones in saw 2 she has more than proven several times to do so. The letter that Hoffman sent in saw 3 to Amanda lead to her down fall and to force her hand.
I love Amanda too, it was the main reason I edited her scenes! However, I do believe she was too dependant on John and did not truly believe in the redemption and rebirthing that John believed in, which is why she rigged games. Even in this movie she states that Cecilia doesn't deserve to live, but John corrects her. I'm sad John had to put her in another test but I believe he saw it as essential to her being the perfect one to carry on his legacy.
@@MissLuminosityand i think she was John’s sentimental favorite apprentice. He seemed so heartbroken and fatherly disappointed when Amanda failed the final test.
@@MissLuminositywhile there are valid points made here, it’s important to remember that John is no better than her-his intense moral hypocrisy prevents him from seeing it, but he’s a murderer. And further, Amanda Young, an unstable victim of abuse and eventual torture, was led to follow the leader of a ‘movement’ that, more or less, promised her salvation or purpose. John doesn’t have the qualifications or expertise to work with someone recovering from drug addiction and severe abuse. Becoming absolutely dependent and reliant on him was 100% accurate to those sorts of behaviors, and he was responsible for handling it.
5:33 In actuality is probably the most brutal part of the whole movie. This is a conversation so many millions have had to have, and it hits so hard because it's so relatable. Out of context, this is just a dramatic moment, acted out between two people who've long had respect for each other. I saw Shawnee talk about this scene at a panel. It's obvious that she really loves Tobin.
I remember, when I came back to my father after an abusive relationship that lead me to Florida and back to Minnesota due to my father needing a pacemaker, that I had a conversation with him. I visited him every. Single. Day, after recovery and even before his surgery. I broke down crying, the son who had grown to 18 and didn't know what to do without my father who I had just been able to be with after I had turned eighteen and hadn't seen him for 5 years due to my mother keeping me from him. After I was home to see him and be with my father, I broke down crying when he was writing down, in a pamphlet they gave him (due to his age) before he went into surgery, "what I want done with my body after death". I couldn't imagine what I would do after he died, because I had not seen my father for five long years, save for a trip I made to see him despite my mother's complaints. I broke down sobbing. My father asked me, "What's wrong, Son?" I said, crying, "I don't know what I'm gonna do when you're gone, Dad... what am I gonna do when you're gone? I haven't spent a whole half-decade with you, and now that this is happening, I'm scared to lose you..." Dad told me, with that ol' growl of a sigh he used to do, "Ah, Honey, you'll be fine without me. You'll be sad, but you'll be okay. You're my Son. I know you will be okay." Dad was right. 💚 I was okay. But it still doesn't hurt any less.
@StonerBaer I'm 50 and have both my parents, and thank God for it everyday. I've had a lot of loss, including my only sibling, in 1998. I use that to try and appreciate what I have. Thank you for sharing your story.
5:50 honestly this part made me cried😢 when she realized John was dying, Amanda cried just because she loves him as a father😭😭 It was so heartbreaking to see John crying and smiling at the same time because he knows who will wait for him☹️☹️
Thank god they bought back Amanda! It was so cool to see Shawnee Smith again and I liked they expanded on Amanda's character development and her relationship with John is bittersweet as it is heartfelt. Her views in this one, especially how she treats Gabriella, show some actual insight on why she became so tough and made the traps inescapable by Saw 3. My one gripe is that awful Spock haircut.
Amanda was partially responsible for the death of Gabriela since she moved Mateo’s game in place of hers and if Gabriela had indeed gone ahead of Mateo she would have survived longer 😊
They have to make the next one fast Cecelia had people with guns so it would be nice to see her revisit Carlos and take the money back which she can easily do. Or just something some way to find John she knows who he is and he was hidden until 2 so maybe a time right before 3. Tobin is getting old I don’t want them to wait
Amanda said: " I'm not ready to do this without you." to Kramer. But here's the thing, i don't think she's ready ANYTHING with or without ANYBODY. It's pathetic.
Saw X really did a good job showing us a softer and more human side of John and Amanda, even tought it was for a bit. As always, Tobin and Shawnee nailed their roles perfectly.
@abeltesfaye_ I'm glad they just did some makeup and let it stand on the performances rather than try some distracting deaging effect. I saw Shawnee talk about this live, she said she was happy about it turning out the way it did, and said the budget wouldn't have allowed for much else anyway.

There's a huge gap in her character development between Saw II and III which had her go from loyal, compassionate apprentice, to extremely unstable.
@@darththork99that’s the point of her character, she’s supposed to be mentally ill but still has some humanity deep inside, she was never meant to be a total psycho with no empathy
