If anyone is wondering what the Hot Wheels logo was doing at 4:38, SEGA got the licenses to one of the cars from that franchise (specifically, RD-04 from the AcceleRacers series) to use in the game. How you unlock the car, I'll let you figure that out.
my life may be complex at times and filled with insecurities, but one thing just screams consistency, and that is CGR(HD). always there for a lesser moment. thanks, Mark.
Very misunderstood controls and a hard learning curve to them that put most people off this. That and of course it's a tad to unforgiving difficulty wise for people to bother with these days. The reviewer also doesn't appear to have got to the grips with this aspect because although yes it's an arcade based racer from controls to physics etc, the controls themselves are both deep and subtle. Particular cars for certain tracks aren't required either when you've mastered the controls properly. Very underrated game
I still play this game and have always loved the mechanics, lots of micro adjustments to the steering to get the perfect slide and always tweaking speed, I played the original in arcade and on saturn and poured hours upon hours into it to get the perfect lap, this game is no different and carries on that lineage. A great game franchise which is sorely missed by myself in the ps4 era.
I’m still trying to find a guide on the techniques for this game (PSP). I found a pretty good one for Crazy Taxi which kinda explained most stuff I was questioning. I was hoping there was one for SEGA Rally too since it’s obvious there’s a lot more to this game.
I played this on the Xbox 360 and the ps3,it controls so much better on the 360 due to the trigger buttons being more accurate for acceleration , great game!
trust me Mark, if a friend from Brazil sent you games, including playstation 3 titles, this is a BIG, HUGE fan, because games in Brazil are just so ridiculously expensive.
oh Mark, how SEGA arcade classics have changed. Do you remember Sega Rally 2 in the arcades? Those were the days. When will we get a port of that I wonder, nay, I demand!
I just got this at gamestop for 5 bucks and I'm pretty happy about it. I'm one of the weridos who had a sega game gear handheld console when I was a kid, and I grew up a sega kid, evolved into an n64 kid, and then didnt get back into gaming until years later after losing both of those consoles for financial reasons when I ended up picking up a ps3 from toys'r'us new in the box for $175. It was pretty cool. I tried going to nintendo handhelds when I was in my older teens, and when I finally got a nintendo gameboy advance, I was dumbfounded when I realized it had no back-lit screen....even though SEGA had one for years with the game gear. That xmas, right after I got the advance, they released the SP 3 months later which had a backlit screen. I returned my advance and didn't bother with anything after that until the ps3. Now I'm in my 30s and the ps4 has finally been out for a while so I was able to pick this up and ill still be happy with my ps3 for a while because the ps4 is filled with ads and sucks. I hope the sega collection for android re-releases Shining Force as one of their games, because I was never able to finish mine as a kid because my cartridge glitched - for some reason it kept spawning zombies until my crew was wiped out and would never stop spawning zombies. It sucked, I could never get past that level!!! I will avenge you, defected cartridge!!!! Lol
I recently bought this game for PC and I am very satisfied with it. The menus are fast and nice, the tracks are very well made and it's really fun to play. I love it. Dirt 3 has nothing to do because it has not arcade style, it's more oriented to realism, but still fun to play, in a different way. I prefer way much more Sega Rally Revo; it simply rocks hard.
i agree, sequels can struggle when they reach quite a few. of course there are exceptions to this rule as there can be a fair bit that are still really good, but i get your point, they can get a bit iffy after a while
the thing is it's completely different to Dirt 3 so the comparison really isn't needed. I like them both but for different reasons. I'd personally put this one over Dirt 3 just in fun terms but you do have to get past the fairy crushing initial control subtleties and AI ruthlessness. Most people that play or review this do tend come away not really having understood the handling meaning they don't enjoy just how immensely satisfying it can be. One of the very best racers you can get if you're prepared to dig just a little deeper initially as you learn the handling nuances. Definitely a great game and not just a little bit good as it suggested of it here. More hands on time required by some reviewers. It is frustrating though if you don't at least get proficient
Been waiting for this review for a while as I've wanted to know what Mark's opinion of it was. I really like this game and find it a refreshing change to the onslaught of simulation racers which, whilst still being fun, I am getting a bit tired of seeing.
There's something like a 60% tax for importing games, the price for new games at Brazilian stores is usually 3 times as much as the price people pay in game stores in USA.
Awesome game. The first game i got on my xbox with halo 3. I used to place this all the time online. I would play it now too if people were still online
I found the handling on this game to be too sensitive. It made going straight hard. However, the PSP port was just spot on and maybe one of the best racing games on that console.
The "Maybe" thing activates when you goes against what the navigator says... kind of, "I said easy right before, but im not sure anymore... so, easy right, maybe? "
you should get and review a Sega Activator for the Genesis. I would love to see you review a Sega made product for the beloved 16bit masterpiece that you didn't love.
The graphics look crisp on this. Of course that isn't what makes the best game. Anyways, this game itself looks pretty fun as well. However, I am more of a Rush or Burnout racing game where I can crash and wreck my car. Burnout 3 I strongly believe is the best racing game of all time. It certainly is the longest, however I never played Burnout Paradise unfortunately.
"Winning races is about getting the best car for that track, memorising the track and just figuring out how to slide around effectively." So it's just like Initial D
This IS a good game, but sometimes the AI is a pain in the ass to defeat, especially in the Masters championship. What really doesn't make sense is the fact that the AI cars are that bit faster than your own, AND they somehow have better traction and grip, making winning impossible! It really has angered me at times, but I have felt the benefit of playing this before.
I never understood the "maybe" from the co driver. Does that mean he doesn't know which way the next corner will turn? How can he not know? And why would he even say that? Why not just keep quiet.
Yeah I agree, SR2 on the DC looked awful. It's all to do with the fact it was made using Windows CE rather than the DC's native operating system. You just need look at some of the DC's other racers to know it could've handled a far better looking port.
After watching this, I may need to try that game again. I went into it with different expectations than "A game made to be fun." Stupid realistic driving games ruining my expectations.
Day 75. Still looking for a PsVita CGR episode. Food is out, and there's not much water left. I'm beginning to think that this whole PsVita review will be some sort of classic review in the future. The President out.
i dont think you are missing out on much on that game...to me it just wasnt exiting enough. you might think differently if you ever do try it though, which i think the game is worth a try
I used to have this, but it didn't feel like Sega Rally to me. That's why I got the Online Arcade edition instead. And, to be honest, I prefer the Online Arcade edition, even if it feels like it should have just been a patch, or DLC, for Revo.
Burnout Paradise wasn't exciting huh? Oh well. If that's the case, I guess I didn't miss out. It's hard to top the excitement and constant fun of Burnout 3.
Microsoft Rally Sport Challenge is the only game that I can think of that is like this game. Fuel is more like Motorstorm with it's over the top type gameplay. I guess dirt is the closest comparison...
Choose some car that suits your driving style and try to drive through the corner like "full throttle, short hard brake with turn, and full throttle again". Maintain the right angle of the car during the powerslide and try to learn the right timing 🙂. It probably doesn't sound easy, but it's really great game. Personally, I would recommend: VW Golf GTI Citroen Xsara Peugeot 207 Fiat Grande Punto Lancia Delta Peugeot 205 T16 EVO2 I hope this would help 🙂
I find that CGR doesn't like Arcade racers. He certainly didn't like Ridge Racer. Arcade racer's don't head for realism. The most they change is making ice roads slippery.
Picked it up when it was on sale, def grab it then, don't quite know if when it's not on sale however. The arcade days are the biggest draw of this game. However if you don't have the nostalgia than you'll probably want to pass on Sega Rally Revo.
Forget all that! Classic Game Room® is now a registered trademark so anyone ELSE who tries to do what Mark does faces the wrath of Lord Karnage and his team of legal domination
hes not that kinda guy. But still, uprising is a fun game. It dosen't really take itself too seriously and relys solely on good, varied gameplay.Id reccomed it.

Game so underated & fun. I say this was 1 of the best driving game experience especially with 4 players
my life may be complex at times and filled with insecurities, but one thing just screams consistency, and that is CGR(HD). always there for a lesser moment. thanks, Mark.
I remember this game, I bought it second-hand and in the instruction manual I found 50 bucks :O:D Good memories...
Lucky guy
Nice 🎉
Sega is so awesome!!! They should come up with a new console soon. It would make so many people happy!
A decade later, it seems highly unlikely...
...but I still agree with you!
@@adamkane7513same here.
Did you not mention the terrain deformation!?
what is that???
The ruts and such that the cars leave in the surface of the track. It affected the cars handling and is one of the first games I recall to feature it
this fact is great in this game
Very misunderstood controls and a hard learning curve to them that put most people off this. That and of course it's a tad to unforgiving difficulty wise for people to bother with these days. play the psp version
thats the easiest among the other ports
Sonic Ace 24 and allows you to use specialists at Championship mode
@@Blueflag04 sorry no easy games for big papa style

I actually just bought this game last month, really fun game.
Obrigado Sergio! por mandar este ótimo game para o Mark!
Thanks Sergio for sending this awesome game for Mark!
-From São Paulo, Brazil.
Oh wow... im 100th person to like this video.. seems funny but it feels to be great.. :).. And thanks for the video mate..:)
trust me Mark, if a friend from Brazil sent you games, including playstation 3 titles, this is a BIG, HUGE fan, because games in Brazil are just so ridiculously expensive.
The frames per second are AMAZING!!!!
It's only 30fps on the ps3 not the best version
PC runs at 60fps 4k absolutely stunning
oh Mark, how SEGA arcade classics have changed. Do you remember Sega Rally 2 in the arcades? Those were the days. When will we get a port of that I wonder, nay, I demand!
OMG! The details, the grafics... Unfortunately I only have it in the Saturn version, but I am going to play it now!
Hey Mark, why not review the Rallisport Challenge games for original Xbox?
I just got this at gamestop for 5 bucks and I'm pretty happy about it. He Mark. Care for a Iracing showdown? I would love to race you one day. You also might like live for speed and netkarpro. Some other great PC sims. :)
Lot's of fans from Brazil!
Helicopters and fighter jets? Nice of Sega to not only reference After Burner but also the lesser-known Thunder Blade :)
There's something like a 60% tax for importing games, the price for new games at Brazilian stores is usually 3 times as much as the price people pay in game stores in USA.

I played the demo on PS3 a long while back and really had fun with it! Not enough love to buy it though.. maybe
I think there is a version of this game for the Sony PSP. Am I right? I remember this tracks on Sega Rally for the PSP, just don't know if it's REVO.
I wish my local arcade still had the original Sega Rally.

hm, how come ?? i was able to get either 1st to 3rd place with just doing fundamentals...
nice, another fan from brazil
did i mention that this game has an game over theme?
Oversteeer/understeer with a wheel is surely just down to the settings. You could lock that wheel to be 180 and that would solve all problems.

The original Sega rally was always a quarter muncher for me so no surprise I'd probably love this. Time to see how cheap eBay has it. :)

SEGA RALLY FOREVER!!!!!!!
No comments on the biggest feature in this game?
If I remember correctly, all the REVOlution about it was because of the alterable/deforming tracks.
didn't he reviewed some pc games sometime ago?
don`t you do anymore reviews about new games?
I loved this game.
I had this for Xbox 360 when I was little
i think the helicopters are actually supposed to be on the track to film the cars.
Best racing game this gen. Yeah, I said it. Whut?
Try the CGRUndertow channel. You'll get lucky there!
