Thank you. As you can tell, I am a bit disappointed. I have been given some hints of different things I can do different. 🤔 Just not sure I want to try it again. If you try it, let me know how it goes. 🙂 Many thanks for watching today. ❤️🩷❤️
Hello Elizabeth! I agree, don't give it a try just yet. I have been given lots of tips and hints so I may try again with one of the other methods. Thank you for stopping by and for your comments. We can look into this more another time. 🤗❤️🩷❤️
Hi Joni! 😃 I read about the fabric softener and water method. Some use hair conditioner and others use laundry starch. 🤯 I am just not that crazy about the paper. Maybe I can get over my disappointment and try a different technique. Thank you for sharing how you do it. Thank you for watching today. I appreciate it very much. ❤️🩷🧡
I just had to try this when i saw Gayle Agostinelli do it. I loved making it, I loved the finished product and my hands smelled fantastic. Great project.
@@PatriciaFrancis-ck9xo I am so happy you love it! What was I doing wrong? Do I need to crunch the paper more? I'd love your suggestions. ❤️🩷😃 Let me know your secrets. 😁
@@JulieTorrens I think I used less lotion (cheap variety) and flattened my paper more after each time I scrunched. I used regular 8 1/2 x 11" single sided scrapbook paper from when I first started scrapbooking years ago and had no issue with it tearing but was careful when I would "unscrunch". The end result was almost fabric like and looked a little like leather. I am sorry your experience was not great. Should you try again, I hope your results are more favorable. I really do hope your cover turns out well. It looks as if you have made a good start with it. Happy crafting. (Patricia) Ann Francis
@PatriciaFrancis-ck9xo oh thank you so much! I appreciate you explaining it so much. I will definitely try it again, using your method. Many thanks! Sincerely, I am very grateful 🙏 😃🩷❤️
Thank you! I only heard about this, this year. I am certainly glad I tried it. Not sure I will do it again. The two pieces I put two coats of Mod Poge on are pretty nice now. I will show the journal cover I am making with them. 😃 Thank you for stopping by today. I appreciate your comments. 🩷❤️🩷🤗😃
We are currently having a hurricane, Julie. Lots of damage to Florida, NC, SC, TN, GA. A ton of flooding. I pray for everyone involved. Thank you. BTW, your paper should squish in your hands with lotion when you squeeze it. If not, you don't have enough on it. Nice work, Julie. Hugs and love. 🥀🥀🥀
@christinecrow1410 my sister is in Georgia and she is braced for a day of it. Maybe more. I am sorry for everyone experiencing such horrible weather. Thank you for the momigami hints. Not sure I will make any more. Stay safe, Christine. Hugs and love. 😃❤️❤️
Hi darling... yes, I've had a go at this. Tips I picked up. Do not use any lotions with butters or food type oils - the papers will go rancid and smell later on. I actually used the most minimum of unscented baby oil applied directly to my hand. The trick is that you have to fold/scrunch the papers open and closed MANY MANY times. The Japanese do it as a kind of meditation process of patience lol. Start off by folding the four corners in to the center for the starting squishes. Start off very gently scrunching, unfolding and re-scrunching. You can scrunch a bit tighter once the paper starts to shrink and feel stronger. The idea is that the paper fibers start to knit. I remember my papers ended up at least 1/3rd of the original size and turned into kind of soft fabric. It is (generally) very strong at the finish. I will give it another go and also see if I still have any of my originals somewhere. You could definitely make a journal cover from a properly momigamied piece. Hope this is helpful. LOVE YOU xxxx
I definitely did not work the paper as you described. I may give it another try. The lotion says it has shey butter, but it is not food. It also has lots of alcohol. Thank you for the help and suggestions. ❤❤❤ Thank you, BIFF
😂Gayle is the only one ive seen do this. Ive never tried this. I dont like the feeling of lotion on my hands. I only use it for sunscreen or super dry skin. I dont like the oily feeling. Hope this works out for you fearless julie. Hugs as always😊❤
@@suzyallen1726 Gayle seems to love her Momigami. I don't love it, but the two sheets I Mod Poged are pretty nice. I think I would have gotten the same results by just crunching up the paper without lotion. It is lovely to hear from you, Suzy! I trust you are doing well. Please take good care. Sending hugs and love. 🤗😃❤️
I used a very large size piece of watercolor paper. I painted it up with color that made me happy. Then I stamped all over it with permanent black in finished off with glitter paint here and there. Then, when it was totally dry, I started the momigami. With my RA hand, I worked the paper for a few days. I started off slow. Folding and folding and small, easy smashing. When it was done, it felt like fabric! I gave half to my cousin, and she made it into a lamp shade. It takes time.
That sounds like it would be much better. I appreciate the instructions you have given. Your paper sounds very beautiful. Thank you for your help! ❤️🩷❤️😃

Nice! When I do this I use a spray bottle with half water half fabric softener. I like to do brown craft paper. It looks like leather when done.
