Everyone says this breed or that breed is the best breed. The bull terrier is not for everyone, but as a biased bully fan, they bring absolutely joy to every household. I lost my girl to cancer in May '23 and it is absolutely devestating. They bring so much to your life. My next dog in the very near future is another bull terrier.
I agree, we had 5 BT's over 35 years. during the height of Spudz Mckenzie Bud Ad.(80's) every one wanted one...our reply. Know the breed before bringing one home. We've loved each and everyone with their quirky personalities BUT they are not for everyone !
My ex gf had 3 of them lol. First i thought this is the ugliest dog I've ever seen! After a few months it became my favorite breed period. I also now think they're beautiful lol

Best thing to happen to me My bully helped me thru my physical rehab and healing and she can see I cant walk fast or have a lot of strength and she is a mirror image of me she never walks to fast or pulls on the lead past my strength they can be funny and silly and make you laugh out loud but when they have to be they are so smart and no when it’s time to be serious they are amazing I couldn’t live without my girl ❤️
I want to get a mini bull,but my mother is scared of them because of their reputation..We live in an apartment but I would be able to take out 3 times a day for longer periods of time..im 23..I owned a small dog before..Any advice? Would I be putting my family in danger?

they're like a 3 year old child in a dog suit, on my second one now. My first was a miniature one and in 50 years he's been my best dog. Wouldn't hurt a fly.
My Otto is the silliest dog I’ve ever had! She is so entertaining when she’s not bitting me! She’s only two months old, so some training will take care of that! She’s already easy to train and the bitting is normal at her age because she’s-teething and also it’s her way of playing. I’m totally obsessed with her 🥰
I had a bull terrier cross from 12 weeks of age until he got to the stage where I had to have him euthanised at 16 and a half years. The most loving and gentle dog ever with those he knew to be weak, either old or small, but played hard with those he knew were stronger! Such an intelligent dog, I miss him.
I grew up with 3 bull terriers. They were my bests friends when growing up. They are also good watch dogs or guard dogs aswell. But still fun loving aswell. Great dogs
My LOVE of this breed forces me to take a slightly different tone and encourage most people to "Not get one" I am a self professed dog nut and been around them all my life. Mostly German Shepherds but had a BT that died at 16.5yrs. and am getting another for sure. However, in my opinion they are the single most unique breed i have ever had the pleasure to be around. and most people unfortunately choose dogs just because its , cute, unique looking, not too big, your kid wants it...whatever....If you are not going to give this dog "a lot" of attention, and NOT leave it at home alone while your off at the office all day. They need their people and companionship more than any breed i have ever been around. If you cant provide that.....forget it.... please....for their sake. Love them, miss the hell out of mine and look forward to my next

Had My girl Aura for two years now. Absolutely could never have any other breed than a bully now. They are unlike any other breed in a loving and fun tornado kind of way. Never a dull moment.
I lived 16 years with my Ted. He was the funniest, most loving dog that I ever spent time with. You could tell he was always thinking about the next thing he was going to do. He was a goofball, and that's all he ever wanted to be. He felt his only job was to make me laugh.. and he thought I was hilarious too. I'd be satisfied with five more years of life if I could live them all with my Ted.

After owning a bull terrier every other dog seems kind of boring. Love my Deebo! Always keeping my life interesting. Many said I couldn’t do it as a teen with a bull terrier as my first dog but everyone loves him!
Bully is my 1st ever dog and I couldn't have asked for a better dog amazing with kids and other dogs and no matter how bad a day I may have had come home to the bully dash n big cuddles nothing better!
I was brought up with them and they are also very protective. When my brother and I were younger my dad had to lock him outside to discipline us. When he let him back in he wouldn't let my dad close to us. The one I have now is full of love and when I come home she weights until I have closed the gate then she will run up and want to play where she normally end up what I call the bull terrier dance where it looks like a combination bucking bull and jumping in a tight circle
Your so right! we got a bull terrier nearly 2 years ago and we just love her.. You do have to put a lot into them. You CANNOT just put a bully in the back yard.. They need to be part of your family. Our girl is inside 90% of the time we are home and sleeps on my bed at night. Training wasn't too bad for us as our bully took to it really well and learnt the word NO really quickly. We were also able to teach her to knock on the door if she wants to go outside to toilet. And she knocks to come inside.
I have heard people saying that somethings are "ugly cute". But I dont think people think they are ugly though, at least not so much in my experience. I have heard people saying they look like pigs though, even polar bears.
I've had collies all my life. They are extremely obedient and easy to train, all they require is a pat on the head. My son brought home a English Bull Terrier, after our call he passed away from old age. This is a very good video as to why you should get a bull terrier. But the breed of dog is not for everyone. We love ours very much, but they are a challenge the first 3 years we wondered who was training who. Love and kindness is very important with living with the bull terrier and understanding. If you don't have a calm personality and the time for a bull terrier, get a collie. They come in short hair now, if you don't want to put up with all that fur.
We had Lola, our first dog eve. We had no expierience, but I'm proud to say she became the absolute star of the neighbourhood. She was the funniest diva. Still miss her.
I love your perspective on the breed and absolutely agree that they become what we make them especially from a pup. They are so eager to please that you can pretty much mold them to what you expect and desire but yes, it takes lots of attention, training and repetition. I call them the perfect dog for someone who really wants a dog because they are always there..... Like RIGHT THERE! Lol.
I used to hate these dogs because of how they look. I prefer dogs that look like their ancestors - wolves. BUT my hubby convinced me to get one and now they are my favourite. They are the absolute cutest. Just fur covered toddlers really!
Mine will be ready to pick up at the end of the month. I've had plenty of dogs before but this will be my first BT. I'm looking forward to the challenge and fun!
I agree with everything you said. Many many years ago i bred them for show so I'm reasonably familar with the breed. I have one now that i adopted almost 4 years ago. I got very lucky because someone raised him right. He does nothing wrong as far as being destructive or mess in the house. He does one usual thing..when i got out of the house what ever pants, shirts or shoes he can get a hold of he piles up at the front door. Lol. Nothing is chewed or ripped. Just put there. His record is 9 pieces of clothing! Just one last thing..i know this gentleman touched on this not being a breed for everyone. I live in New York & i can tell you that you wouldn't want this wonderful breed in the hands of just anyone which leaves me feeling very glad they're not all that popular. God bless the dogs
You don't really "train" a terrier (any of them generally). You generally learn to accommodate each other. They've got their own agenda, it's often linked to their prey drive, and you have to be ready for it. Jack Russells and rabbits will never mix, and no amount of training will change that. Bully breeds will usually be "game" and you won't train that out of them either.
I have a two year old english bull terrier and I have always had bull terrier type but it's always a challenge in doors 💯 but outside a powerful handful but you can't help but love them.
I've owned jack russells for decades. Yes terriers have a strong prey drive and it governs much of their behaviour. But you CAN have rabbits and jack russells, it just takes time and effort, and preferably begins with lots of early socialisation.
Got my bull terrier yesterday. Two years old named Petey. Love him already. Just get used to him and him used to me. He is a strong dog me only 180 pounds. You can feel when tugs on the leash.
My one is is crazy and just goes for people/dogs, spent lots of £ on dog trainers and still crazy, very loving towards me, my son and gf. Sees a Squirrel/spider/bird and goes bananas.

He particularly liked me for some reason. So I was always the one who fed him and watered the plants when they were gone. They had a professional walk him and they paid a lot. He wouldn't even get up when I walked in their house. But if I didn't tell him good bye he would throw a fit. I had to pat him and talk to him and give him a hug. He was a crazy dog but super sweet to me.

Funny thing. First time dog owner and the wife really wanted a Bull Terrier because of it looks. It idd takes time to train but at this moment (18 months) she is idd the most loving, clownish dog. She loves agility and search and rescue. These kind of games she really loves

I have 2 bullies ,unfortunately one died and it broke my ❤️ and needed to get councilng. My girl Cody is white but always gets real bad rashes on her belly especially when they put there back legs flat out on the ground . But ebts are part of the family or maybe more. You get what you put into them. You will love it! best trained inside even though it can be really hard.. They thrive on routine so they aren't confused in feed time and bedtime.
I would love to have an EBT, I think they are utterly beautiful dogs in every sense.....my partner also wants a dog but will likely only settle for a German Shepherd or Irish Wolfhound....I like both of these but worry about the training requirement and need for space (we have a detached house & garden but it's not massive)....i don't know how to settle this impasse unfortunately
The number one consideration before you get a Bully, are you willing to be the Alpha dog? For the first couple years they will push but they have to know their boundaries and life will be very good.
I am considering adopting a 7 year old female from animal services. She's been flagged as having "behavioral issues". I'm willing to put in the time and effort but it would be good to know if you have any recommendations for trying to train and socialize a 7 year old adult dog. Cheers!
@@NotoriousFunk A rescue came and got her before I went back to adopt her. She was brought in with a male who was not available to the public for adoption due to high levels of aggression. The rescue took him, too.
@@NotoriousFunk I have confidence that they both are in good hands. It's a bull terrier rescue so they understand the breed very well. I ended up adopting another dog who has turned out to be quite a handful. She's not a bull terrier, though.
First off they are not ugly. They are absolutely the most beautiful, loyal dogs. RIP my Mudus! She was white with a black spot on her eye. She is greatly loved and missed forever.
People say they look strange but i've always thought these were the best looking dogs. Medium sized, short fur, stocky, and their face has a very powerful eye-snout-size ratio that resembles a great white shark, T-rex or any other apex predator, not the typical squashed frog-face face you see on a stocky mid-sized canine. The first time i saw one in person was a friends dog called Sarge, it looked like it could bench press 150kg. Then there's the Bull-Terrier in Babe: Pig in the City, I really liked it once it became friendly "Whatever the pig says, goes". That dog was such a G. But despite all that aesthetic, they're such nice dogs and super funny. Just gotta raise them with the right intentions.
I am a disabled vet with mobility issues. Can you recommend a breed of dog that might suit my needs. I like a large dog,but a smaller dog would be ok to. I live alone and would enjoy a dogs company. Before I had German Shpards, but they are to boisterous and knock me down now. I need something that is calmer now. I am besotted with my bully x staffy, she’s very much a bull terrier in her appearance and behaviour she’s perfect. I am thinking of getting a bully pup with the intent of training it to be a therapy dog at the primary school where I work, would a bully be a good choice for this?
This is my third BullTerrier in my lifetime; and I don’t know if it’s me just getting old; or she is the most stubborn Bull Terrier I have met. I give her the time,exercise and patience , but she is very slow to learn; maybe she is teaching me, and I’m not taking to training very well

I want to get a mini bull,but my mother is scared of them because of their reputation..We live in an apartment but I would be able to take out 3 times a day for longer periods of time..im 23..I owned a small dog before..Any advice? Would I be putting my family in danger?

My Otto is the silliest dog I’ve ever had! She is so entertaining when she’s not bitting me! She’s only two months old, so some training will take care of that! She’s already easy to train and the bitting is normal at her age because she’s-teething and also it’s her way of playing. I’m totally obsessed with her 🥰

I had a bull terrier cross from 12 weeks of age until he got to the stage where I had to have him euthanised at 16 and a half years. The most loving and gentle dog ever with those he knew to be weak, either old or small, but played hard with those he knew were stronger! Such an intelligent dog, I miss him.
I grew up with 3 bull terriers. They were my bests friends when growing up. They are also good watch dogs or guard dogs aswell. But still fun loving aswell. Great dogs

My LOVE of this breed forces me to take a slightly different tone and encourage most people to "Not get one" I am a self professed dog nut and been around them all my life. Mostly German Shepherds but had a BT that died at 16.5yrs. and am getting another for sure. However, in my opinion they are the single most unique breed i have ever had the pleasure to be around. and most people unfortunately choose dogs just because its , cute, unique looking, not too big, your kid wants it...whatever....If you are not going to give this dog "a lot" of attention, and NOT leave it at home alone while your off at the office all day. They need their people and companionship more than any breed i have ever been around. If you cant provide that.....forget it.... please....for their sake. Love them, miss the hell out of mine and look forward to my next

Had My girl Aura for two years now. Absolutely could never have any other breed than a bully now. They are unlike any other breed in a loving and fun tornado kind of way. Never a dull moment.
I lived 16 years with my Ted. He was the funniest, most loving dog that I ever spent time with. You could tell he was always thinking about the next thing he was going to do. He was a goofball, and that's all he ever wanted to be. He felt his only job was to make me laugh.. and he thought I was hilarious too. I'd be satisfied with five more years of life if I could live them all with my Ted.

After owning a bull terrier every other dog seems kind of boring. Love my Deebo! Always keeping my life interesting. Many said I couldn’t do it as a teen with a bull terrier as my first dog but everyone loves him!
Bully is my 1st ever dog and I couldn't have asked for a better dog amazing with kids and other dogs and no matter how bad a day I may have had come home to the bully dash n big cuddles nothing better!
I was brought up with them and they are also very protective. When my brother and I were younger my dad had to lock him outside to discipline us. When he let him back in he wouldn't let my dad close to us. The one I have now is full of love and when I come home she weights until I have closed the gate then she will run up and want to play where she normally end up what I call the bull terrier dance where it looks like a combination bucking bull and jumping in a tight circle

Your so right! we got a bull terrier nearly 2 years ago and we just love her.. You do have to put a lot into them. You CANNOT just put a bully in the back yard.. They need to be part of your family. Our girl is inside 90% of the time we are home and sleeps on my bed at night. Training wasn't too bad for us as our bully took to it really well and learnt the word NO really quickly. We were also able to teach her to knock on the door if she wants to go outside to toilet. And she knocks to come inside.

I've had collies all my life. They are extremely obedient and easy to train, all they require is a pat on the head. My son brought home a English Bull Terrier, after our call he passed away from old age.
This is a very good video as to why you should get a bull terrier. But the breed of dog is not for everyone. We love ours very much, but they are a challenge the first 3 years we wondered who was training who. Love and kindness is very important with living with the bull terrier and understanding. If you don't have a calm personality and the time for a bull terrier, get a collie. They come in short hair now, if you don't want to put up with all that fur.
We had Lola, our first dog eve. We had no expierience, but I'm proud to say she became the absolute star of the neighbourhood. She was the funniest diva. Still miss her.

I love your perspective on the breed and absolutely agree that they become what we make them especially from a pup. They are so eager to please that you can pretty much mold them to what you expect and desire but yes, it takes lots of attention, training and repetition. I used to hate these dogs because of how they look. I prefer dogs that look like their ancestors - wolves. BUT my hubby convinced me to get one and now they are my favourite. They are the absolute cutest. Just fur covered toddlers really!

My Grandma used to have a lovely brindle and white bull terrier, she was a lovely dog.
Mine will be ready to pick up at the end of the month. I've had plenty of dogs before but this will be my first BT. I'm looking forward to the challenge and fun!

I agree with everything you said. Many many years ago i bred them for show so I'm reasonably familar with the breed. I have one now that i adopted almost 4 years ago. I got very lucky because someone raised him right. He does nothing wrong as far as being destructive or mess in the house. He does one usual thing..when i got out of the house what ever pants, shirts or shoes he can get a hold of he piles up at the front door. Lol. Nothing is chewed or ripped. Just put there. His record is 9 pieces of clothing! Just one last thing..i know this gentleman touched on this not being a breed for everyone. I live in New York & i can tell you that you wouldn't want this wonderful breed in the hands of just anyone which leaves me feeling very glad they're not all that popular. God bless the dogs
You don't really "train" a terrier (any of them generally). You generally learn to accommodate each other. They've got their own agenda, it's often linked to their prey drive, and you have to be ready for it. Jack Russells and rabbits will never mix, and no amount of training will change that. Bully breeds will usually be "game" and you won't train that out of them either.
I have a two year old english bull terrier and I have always had bull terrier type but it's always a challenge in doors 💯 but outside a powerful handful but you can't help but love them.
I've owned jack russells for decades. Yes terriers have a strong prey drive and it governs much of their behaviour. But you CAN have rabbits and jack russells, it just takes time and effort, and preferably begins with lots of early socialisation.

My friend had an Akita that loved 99% of all humans, but it would try to eat any other dog, cat, mole, possum, etc that came in it's yard.
He particularly liked me for some reason. So I was always the one who fed him and watered the plants when they were gone. They had a professional walk him and they paid a lot. He wouldn't even get up when I walked in their house. But if I didn't tell him good bye he would throw a fit. I had to pat him and talk to him and give him a hug. He was a crazy dog but super sweet to me.

Funny thing. First time dog owner and the wife really wanted a Bull Terrier because of it looks. It idd takes time to train but at this moment (18 months) she is idd the most loving, clownish dog. She loves agility and search and rescue. These kind of games she really loves

My girl Cody is white but always gets real bad rashes on her belly especially when they put there back legs flat out on the ground . But ebts are part of the family or maybe more. I would love to have an EBT, I think they are utterly beautiful dogs in every sense.....my partner also wants a dog but will likely only settle for a German Shepherd or Irish Wolfhound....I like both of these but worry about the training requirement and need for space (we have a detached house & garden but it's not massive)....i don't know how to settle this impasse unfortunately
The number one consideration before you get a Bully, are you willing to be the Alpha dog? For the first couple years they will push but they have to know their boundaries and life will be very good.

I am considering adopting a 7 year old female from animal services. She's been flagged as having "behavioral issues". I'm willing to put in the time and effort but it would be good to know if you have any recommendations for trying to train and socialize a 7 year old adult dog. Cheers!

@@NotoriousFunk A rescue came and got her before I went back to adopt her. She was brought in with a male who was not available to the public for adoption due to high levels of aggression. The rescue took him, too.

@@NotoriousFunk I have confidence that they both are in good hands. It's a bull terrier rescue so they understand the breed very well. I ended up adopting another dog who has turned out to be quite a handful. She's not a bull terrier, though.

They are magical and hilarious dogs, one day i will get one so I can have an exercise and fun buddy.
People say they look strange but i've always thought these were the best looking dogs. Medium sized, short fur, stocky, and their face has a very powerful eye-snout-size ratio that resembles a great white shark, T-rex or any other apex predator, not the typical squashed frog-face face you see on a stocky mid-sized canine. The first time i saw one in person was a friends dog called Sarge, it looked like it could bench press 150kg. Then there's the Bull-Terrier in Babe: Pig in the City, I really liked it once it became friendly "Whatever the pig says, goes". That dog was such a G. But despite all that aesthetic, they're such nice dogs and super funny. Just gotta raise them with the right intentions.
I am a disabled vet with mobility issues. Can you recommend a breed of dog that might suit my needs. I like a large dog,but a smaller dog would be ok to. I live alone and would enjoy a dogs company. Before I had German Shpards, but they are to boisterous and knock me down now. I need something that is calmer now. I am besotted with my bully x staffy, she’s very much a bull terrier in her appearance and behaviour she’s perfect. I am thinking of getting a bully pup with the intent of training it to be a therapy dog at the primary school where I work, would a bully be a good choice for this?

This is my third BullTerrier in my lifetime; and I don’t know if it’s me just getting old; or she is the most stubborn Bull Terrier I have met. I give her the time,exercise and patience , but she is very slow to learn; maybe she is teaching me, and I’m not taking to training very well

Blue ridge bull terrier rescue has them. They are evaluated, etc.
