Fed Rate Cuts Will Trigger Inflation & Market Kaos | Michael Kao

  • Michael Kao joins Wealthion’s Andrew Brill to warn that next week’s signaled Fed rate cut will likely have unforeseen consequences: a resurgence of inflation and market instability amidst what he calls a “Vodka Red Bull” bifurcated economy. In this insightful interview, the retired hedge fund manager and writer at Kaoboy Musings defies consensus by arguing that a short recession could benefit the economy in the long run and that the coming rate cut is risky while inflationary fiscal pressures and supply inelasticities in oil and housing remain a significant concern.

At Wealthion, we show you how to protect and build your wealth by learning from the world’s top experts on finance and money. Each week we add new videos that provide you with access to the foremost specialists in investing, economics, the stock market, real estate and personal finance.
We offer exceptional interviews and explainer videos that dive deep into the trends driving today's markets, the economy, and your own net worth. We give you strategies for financial security, practical answers to questions like “how to grow my investments?”, and effective solutions for wealth building tailored to 'regular' investors just like you.
There’s no doubt that it's a very challenging time right now for the average investor. Above and beyond the recent economic impacts of COVID, the new era of record low interest rates, runaway US debt and US deficits, and trillions of dollars in monetary and fiscal stimulus stimulus has changed the rules of investing by dangerously distorting the Dow index, the S&P 500, and nearly all other asset prices. Can prices keep rising, or is there a painful reckoning ahead?
Let us help you prepare your portfolio just in case the future brings one or more of the following: inflation, deflation, a bull market, a bear market, a market correction, a stock market crash, a real estate bubble, a real estate crash, an economic boom, a recession, a depression, or another global financial crisis.
Put the wisdom from the money & markets experts we feature on Wealthion into action by scheduling a free consultation with Wealthion’s endorsed financial advisors, who will work with you to determine the right next steps for you to take in building your wealth.

Great interview with Michael Kao. He’s got a real interesting perspective-sometimes arriving at conclusions that other mavericks do but through a different path. Another interview about his personal investments would be great.

Australia hasn’t cut rates. It should have. So you’re showing some ignorance there. Australian bonds are yielding higher than US bonds by a significant margin. Whatever.

I don't think lowering interest rates will being the jobs back. So little to no inflation

Deflation favors the average citizen. Prices go down at a variable pace according to demand. Staple are more resilient than trips to Las Vegas, for example.😮
-Only government and those with large debt benefit of inflation, assuming they can print the money OR earn money faster than the interest rate 😅
-Average citizen salary does not grow faster than inflation/interest rates 😢

Inflationista calls for inflation news @ 11... Truflation rate is at 1.10% and leads inflation with a 0.97 correlation.

Kao is great and have many great points
But I think he doesnt take into account that if the US inflation + real growth slows to a point lower than the weigthed average of interest on the debt, the US will fall into an accellerating debt death spiral
And only solution would be to have an even bigger deficit to boost the growth back up. And that would prolong a recession to many many years
