As usual, great video. Beautiful palm tree here. Can you do a video on beccariophoenix alfredii? I just got one and I'm going to try it in Palm Springs.
Asalamu Alaikum, I have replanted these trees. It's been a month now, but the trees are dead. Now please give me a little formula on what to do. How much water should I give, the number of trees is about 30
C. fallaensis is going to be a thicker plant overall. The petiole bases are wider, the leaves have more segments, and the color is a little more blue-silver. They vary greatly in habitat color-wise, so thickness is the best indicator.
Thank you very much for these identification characteristics, I could see out easier beetwen them. Sometime i have seen some pics on the internet of C. baileyana which sometime also have silver color, so i look , it is quite similar with C. hospita. Can you help me more about these 2 species?
You mentioned it growing in Miami. Will it grow in Fort Myers??? It reminds me of the Bismarckia. I lost two nice size Bismarck specimens to the Evil weavel and have an empty spot in the swale near my road " plenty of moisture there ".
Yes, I should have mentioned it is hardy to the 9b/10a area, and seems to take a little bit of freezing weather. That specimen is on Pine Island, and there are big specimens as far north as Sarasota.
This palm just can't be fully appreciated in any video or any pictures. That's impossible. You must be beside one, or better yet, under one, to truly get the full sense of its enormous size and beauty.
Oddly enough, this palm has an undivided base of petioles. Mostly massive palmate palm seems to have divided bases of petioles. For example Corypha Bismarckia Washingtonia Sabal Lodoicea
Whoa!! This is probably my favorite palm. I know where one is back home in Florida. And I always admired it. What you said about it being planted in 2001 ish makes perfect sense too as that was around the time it was planted. Actually probably like 2003. Or so. I have always wanted one but never knew what it was. I am not in a zone for this plant anymore. But when I move back I am definitely getting one. Or some seed. I do have contacts all thru Latin America as well as the rest of the world and never thought about having them get palm seeds until I came across your video. I just never thought of it. I have already asked them to collect seed and send them to me or bring them when they come. I am no expert on Palms however. But I grew up around them and always loved them. Where I am now there is only cold hardy palms. But many that are giant. And it freezes here. Like ice for weeks. Snows. Etc. It’s pretty at first but it got old after 1 year.

There are a few of these growing here in Key West, FL along with several Cuban Petticoat Palms, all strikingly beautiful specimens. 6/11/2022
Great video. Great info. Keep them coming. 😃. Learning a lot.

Hi, thanks for giving the video, can you tell me the differences beetween Copernicia hospita and this C. fallaensis?

Why is C. baileyana, one form is total blue, one is silver color, maybe it is two species?
Great palm

You can buy seeds ad rarepalmseeds
Oddly enough, this palm has an undivided base of petioles.
Mostly massive palmate palm seems to have divided bases of petioles.
For example
Corypha
Bismarckia
Washingtonia
Sabal
Lodoicea
Fucken brilliant
I heard copernicia baileyana does well in the desert. I want to try one.
They can survive as long as they have water by the ground.
How cold hardy is this palm?
It will handle light freezes and is probably stem hardy down to about 25F, at which point the entire plant will die.
This looks very similar to a silver Bismarck
Do you/anybody have seeds for sale? Thanks
Right now, the species is not in seeding season, but I am going to try and set up a seed bank for when seeds are available.
Great, thanks. If you find more, I am interested in buying some. Let's keep in touch. :)
