I struggled with really bad acne and hyperpigmentation as well. I was using retinol, alpha arbutin, vit-c, niacinamide you name it and I've probably tried it. My skin got clear-ish but I'd still break out a lot. Then came exam time...I had absolutely no time to focus on skincare. I neglected my skin almost entirely. The only thing I did was wash my face with a facewash maybe once or twice daily. And my skin IMPROVED DRAMATICALLY. My current skincare is literally just a gentle cleanser and sunscreen in the morning and a aloevera based night gel at night. And it's the clearest my skin has ever been. So sometimes doing less is exactly what your skin needs!

Exact same thing happened to me. But with wrinkles not acne. I've tried everything, I must have spent £1500 in total over time.
Then I got ill and was hospitalised then lost capability to do anything for my skin. ITS THE BEST, CLEAREST and reduced wrinkles now. I've test this theory many times and same results everytime.
Does anyone know why this is?
      Best Wishes xx

Do not forget to clean all your skincare bottles regularly. And buy separate face cloths that you only use for your face and wash more often. Made such a difference for my breakouts.

Pay attention how ure skin and body reacts after certain foods or skin care products. It can be key. I realized that i need to use cream cleansers and certains foods trigger my skin as well. PSA for every1: PAY ATTENTION! Do not blindly use anything even retinol you may be better off w.o it even!

As a desi woman who also had acne, hyperpigmentation and acne marks/scars throughout my teens, honestly the more complicated I made my skincare the worse my existing issues got. I think I was packing too many ingredients on. Simplifying my routine actually helped a lot; actually have eczema on parts of my face so that's partly why all the acne-targeting products I tried didn't help, because they just made parts of my face even drier and more sensitive. Now I just use a soap-free face wash and face cream: I put a lighter, thinner face cream on my oily T-zone and a thicker cream on my dry cheeks and jaw area (both with SPF 30) . Sometimes if my skin is extra dry I will also use a hydrating serum before applying the face creams (that extra step is basically my winter skincare routine). If I get new pimples, I apply a gentle spot gel just on the pimples themselves overnight. I exfoliate with a gentle exfoliating cleanser only once a week, and make sure not to exfoliate too hard as for me it actually makes my dark marks/dry skin peeling worse.
So face wash, a hydrating serum in winter and and the face creams. Sometimes I add extra sunscreen on top of the 30 SPF face creams if I'm going to be out and about a lot that day.

Great video! Love seeing more people integrate tretinoin into their routine. I use 0.025% but it made me dry and irritated when I first started using it. A tip from my dermatologist was to apply it only at night and as my last step. I would put a pea-sized amount on top of the CeraVe PM moisturizer and it really helped get my skin used to the product!

I got my skin better when I practiced 4 cleansing steps. I used the B.Lab balm cleanser, the garnier micellar water, b.lab matcha cleanser for dry areas and lastly, a drug store cleanser from a local brand for my oily areas. The point is, I live in southeast asia. We saved electricity so I have to sleep with a very warm environment with only a fan. That's why I dont wanna put anything that makes my skin feel heavy such as putting moisturizers and creams. I also use niacinamide serum for final touch. Sunscreen is also a must in mornings. I advise people to not really follow the trends but find your own products that is appropriate for your skin and for the environment you live in. Every skin is different.

I love short and realistic skin care routines! I only do 4/6 out of these. I might need tretinoin because I have really stubborn hyperpigmentation, too. Thank you for the recommendations.

Try toner of 3 part ACV, 1 part water between wash and moisturizer steps for your face. O and mildly moisturizing products (like LRoche Posay) for those steps, instead of harsh acne ones. It’s a little counterintuitive from what’s marketed, but it makes sense to restore your skins natural protective mechanisms (e.g. the moisture barrier). Made a world (WORLD) of difference for my skin…. Acne stopped with a week or two, and scars were gone within 2 months. I also did minimal makeup during that time to allow my skin to heal.

Hiii, I'm a huge fan and love your videos sm. I also struggle with hyper pigmentation and a homemade remedy that works for me is mixing aloe vera gel, rose water, lemon juice, honey and potato juice in a bowl and applying it to my face. Wait for it to dry and rinse it off. Repeat the process everyday till your pigmentation fades away. You can store the remainder in the fridge. Hope it works for you ❤❤

I try to do as little as possible cleansing wise to not upset the moisture barrier, and after that what helps the most are indeed retinoids to help with dark spots, and benzoyl peroxide to treat the acne. I find retinoids don't stop me from breaking out but they make the breakouts come to a head way quicker.
What stops me from breaking out as much is benzoyl peroxide and not stripping the skin (by overusing cleansers, overdoing acids, or using scrubs). Then using as little makeup as possible, and avoiding heavy products.

I am seriously wondering... apparently you started wearing make up at 12 and you have had skin issues since 13... are you sure it's not the make up causing all the skin issues ?? I love make up but my skin is too sensitive to it and I can't wear anything buy compact mascara and gloss... maybe going off make up for a while would help you rule out make up as the cause ?? Not hating... just trying to help.❤❤❤
