How does the regulating lever work? Should it be vertical or horizontal?

Straight up means more water stays inside the container, tilting it left or right allows water to seep out. The further to the left or right the more moisture is released from the pot.

Have you tried any of the methods that breakdown the egg shells before adding to soil? I see arguments back and forth about how one should utilize the calcium in them

I actually do...in addition to some pretty intensive composting. I take an "all of the above" approach.

This looks expensive, but if it saves my tomatoes from over or under watering, then it's probably worth it. Thanks for sharing. I like the additives you put in. Do you fertilize too?
