Yeah, you remind me of Paul Hartnoll of Orbital - partly the physical similarity but also the simple childlike (in a good way!) enjoyment of making music without trying to be too cool about it.
My favorite moment was when at 2:30 he said to put the amen at -6db but actually put it to 6db instead. All about winning the loudness war.

Why Amen? You're not writing about something religious or some kind of ritual. And your smiley face, if I'm not mistaken, has the meaning "crying with laughter." Is Amen related to The Prodigy - Omen track? Or just with the name of a loop with drums. Or with 2:53

"The Winstons - Amen Brother" is the name of the song which contains the specific drum sequence, thus the name "amen break". Search for it if you want to know more.
Yes the crying with tears face emoji was hinting at a joke related to what Will said at 2:53 hope this clears it
Always loved D&B since the 90's - great vid and has given me the inspiration to revisit my old tracks for a modern treatment. Keep up the great work Will.
DnB has been declared dead every other year since it first came up... and still it's very alive and well. Not many genres are as versatile as DnB (imho). Anyway thanks for the tutorial, you always point me in new directions by making me try new stuff and helping me broaden my understanding of making electronic music.

It’s “dead” because most artist don’t know how to catch the essence of DnB. It’s lively, hyper. A true DnB makes you get up and jump. It sends this energy through your body. If it doesn’t make you do that, or smile, then it is not DnB

number = position of beat in bar, and - = no note
Kick = |1 - - - | - - - - | - - 3 - | - - - - |
Snare = | - - - - | 1 - - - | - - - - | 1 - - - |
Secondary shuffle Snare (every 4 bars) | - - - - | - - - 3 -| 1 - - | - - - - |
Hat = | 1 - 3 - | 1 - 3 - | 1 - 3 - | 1 - 3 - |
Shaker = | - 2 - 4 | - 2 - 4 | - 2 - 4 | - 2 - 4 |
(hat and shaker can be reversed depending on sound)
