this vid is better than the others, clearly. This can be the start of a new hobby for many Listeners and Viewers outside. Greetings and thumb up! Dear Sir, you have done a lot of for the sw hobby. 73, harry
I get a loop and find it is very directional . I've hidden a loop I n a picture frame. The radio hidden in a book shelf. I have a " go bag" with bits of drink/ food. And picking table.
Where did you get the definition of an approved ultralight radio that you were reading? Is there a list of approved models on the Internet? Is it from the Yahoo group? I love the idea of this hobby. it is a lot like QRP in ham radio and a great hobby to go along with hiking and backpacking. Great video. Tom
Great video. I do every thing radio but my most favorite is mw dxing so i believe i will be joining the yahoo group. I already belong to the 880 group and the super radio group. As always in my opinion your.the best in radio period. So thankyou and merry xmas and happy newyear. Ron.zuccala. pittsburgh. Pa.
Mmm mmm! Yup, Grundig G6 with a 70' end fed map tacked to my ceiling, a 99.7' made from 15½' of 24/6 Telephone Station Wire, and a Zepp to go out with.
One of the very best was the Grundig G 6 , which even included SSB! Discontinued in the late 2000s for some reason even though the demand was fairly good.
Approved my whom exactly? The idea that a group of people declared themselves the authority on something so trivial and created a series of (meaningless) hard rules is very much in keeping with what I would describe as the less appealing side of the radio hobby as a whole.
I'm in a fine mood and I was when I made that comment but thanks for your sarcastic concern. Unfortunately my point, which I stand by, seems to have gone over your head.
An interesting but somewhat strange category. I don't get what makes it entertainment vs enthusiast, as I think that's largely subjective to personal opinion. For example, I'd consider just about all radios under $100 as non enthusiast, regardless if they have ssb and/or other features. An enthusiast radio to me is a desktop radio with plenty of buttons and knobs to control things like bandwidth, roofing filters, etc. After looking over it, it's really rule #2 that seems like the odd one, the rest of the rules make perfect sense. Here are the rules if someone is looking for them: swling.com/blog/2011/07/ultralight-shortwave-radios-now-tagged-in-the-shortwave-radio-index-swri/
I like your videos. They are both informative and entertaining. You have tremendous knowledge in SWL. Keep up the good work. Cheers from China.
Thank you !

Hello there, I am planning to buy a Tecsun radio. What would be your choice between tecsun 380 or 310.
I appreciate your answer.
Interesting. Did not know about this hobby. Thanks for sharing.
Tom
Nice 👍, We need 2022 version of this video!
if you live in an apartment or a condo or a townhouse could you show us how your antenna setup is for shortwave listening?
I have the same problem here, my loop antenna basically picks up all the radio noise in the hood and feeds it right into my radio.

I wasn't aware of an ultralight Dxing Group. Will have to check it out. Thanks for the info. 73's.

watershed44 , Yes it is! A year ago, Eric Shlepergrell from Arizona retouched my cold solder joints in the board; and it's like new!
good job

sandman x, Shirt pocket size Usually not having SSB, or Synchronous Detection, unusual that the Grundig G6 does have SSB!
initial thought 310 compared to 380
Both are great ...but I do have a small preference for the 380
