    I do calendar desk blotter every year, what a time saver this method is - THANKS!! - (BTW, in your example "Inserting 48 rows" only creates 9 months, 66 rows is the magic number)

    Oh my word. You have changed my life!!!!!! I am trying to create a calendar that spans two pages for a planner. Using this method, I just made one long table with an invisible column over the margin, I just delete the spaces in there and the numbers are gone!! Thank you!!

    So amazing! Brilliant method. I also created a character style for the text within the date boxes that is a bit smaller than the number in case the client would want to add holidays like "mother's day" , etc that would appear a bit smaller than the date and still look nice.

    First of all, for some reason, the numbers are repeating themselves. When I press "1", it comes out "11"
    And the numbers are not continuing when pasting. It's all "1" all across the calendar

    • @TheDesignNinja
      @TheDesignNinja  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You'll find many tutorials out there on the web, but if you can, the best place to start is with some reading. Sere what books you can get access to on the principles of design, then learn about colour, typography and the language of images. Study communication, learn how messages are delivered through design, and be observant of the designs that you see. Keep a sketchbook, and work in it daily. You don't need to produce finished work in it, but learn to develop your ideas.
      Hope that's some help to you, and good luck.

      Thank you very much for the compliments-appreciated-and sorry for the delay in getting back to you. It sounds like you may have a number in the Number field (in the paragraph style). Open the style, go to Bullets and Numbering, and in the Numbering Style section, check that the contents of the Number firled matches that in the video. :)

      @diywithdanie 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Design Ninja You would think but it’s not. I also cannot get my pages to duplicate like yours. I don’t if it’s because my table is not taking up the whole page as in your tutorial or if I’m doing something wrong.

    • @TheDesignNinja
      @TheDesignNinja  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Danie. The page duplication is achieved by holding down SHIFT when you place from the overflow. Try watching again and taking it slowly, step-by-step-you will get there! A facing pages document will work exactly the same way but as you're not the first person to ask this, I'm going to make a whole new workflow video (that I will most likely livestream first) to address some other questions around this, too.

    How can I add text into the cells I've created? The only text it will allow is in the same corner and font size as my "dates" and I want to add events in a smaller font and centered in their "dated" cell.

    • @TheDesignNinja
      @TheDesignNinja  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Casey. This is a technique to generate a calendar layout quickly, so the cells already have content. The way I would approach your request is to add another table with exactly the same dimensions and no visible attributes (so turn off the strokes, for example) then work from there. This may make a good follow-up video, so thank you!

    • @TheDesignNinja
      @TheDesignNinja  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Jeanette! Thank you and that's a good question but the answer is you can't delete individual cells, unfortunately. What you can do though is select the cells that you don't need and then hide them by removing their visible attributes (like the fill and stroke colours). :)

      Hey. It's not related to settings-it'll be a failure of the cursor to load the text. Make sure that you have the Selection Tool active, then click on the out-flow port of the text frame (to load the text) then delete the frame. You should now have that loaded into the cursor, and then, holding down SHIFT, click on the page-it should work perfectly.

      you can follow the steps : click on the paragraph style of the number / bullets and numbering / numbering style / number : ^# / mode : choose " continue from previous number" =>OK
      on the place you need to insert number, instead of typing 1 , type " " ( space ), then continue with the video 00:10:22
      hope this helps

      Hey. Sorry you're having trouble with this tutorial. Check your paragraph style and make sure that in the list options that the "Continue from previous…" mode is selected-it's roughly in the middle of the dialog. :)

      Hey. You need a cell or a range of cells active to see that option and by default it will say "at least". Hope that gets you back up-and-running! :)

      Cells are the areas that you add information into (the "boxes")

    Not working. When pasting the cell with the number, it inserts just 1´s, it doesn´t continue. The rest was well explained

      Sorry for the huge delay in reply-I've had to be off for a few weeks. You need to make sure that you have created the paragraph style exactly as described, and that the cell contains only a space (with that style applied). Hope that helps. :)

      Thank you and yes, you can follow me @tonyharmer and @the_design_ninja_tm on Instagram. My best advice to you, so you learn more from the experience, is to work through the steps one at a time, and it'll work. You are going to find that you've missed out one small detail…

      Hey George. the pages should have been generated by the autoflow, followed by the menu command to select all body rows (on every page) and then the paste to add in the spaces. Give it another try, but take it nice and slowly, forgetting what you may know already and taking it one step at a time. :)

      Try watching again slowly, taking it one step at a time-you'll get there. There's another video on this topic due out this week.
