I haven't seen the locomotive out this year. I'm hoping that it will be running for the ILS open meet in August, and that I'll be able to navigate the club (I just had knee surgery).
well gary i'll tell you first hand coming from a young veteran of 15 years of live steam. I can tell you it is a helluva lotta fun. but fun does have it's prices and as you said mechanical skill is a big price to this hobby. but still it's a great hobby and im proud to be a part of it and still will be til the day I die.
I have a gas diesel, and a few freight cars. I bought the plans for GS-4, the tender, and the tender trucks. I'd like to have the patterns made for the locomotive castings so I can economically produce enough castings for 3-4 locomotives. Two Daylights, and a Union Pacific Northern. Do you have any equipment?
You don't need a train, but you do have to be of age (either 18 or 21 I'm not sure off hand). The club has junior memberships available, but the junior member has to have a parent who is a full regular member. You can email Chuck for more specific information on membership here -> chooch0238@ sbcglobal "dot" net
The ILS is a private railroad located south of Chicago. It isn't open to the public, but they are looking for new members.
awesome video chris, I loved the coal tipple scene with the northern. keep up the awesome work
Agreed, I'm looking into making one myself. Worse case scenario, I'll only be out Saturday and Sunday in a wheel chair. Don't want to miss 4454.

That sounds interesting, I'll look into that. Thanks for the tip!
