Other than the ones on this list, there have been others who ran 91 or 100-yard TDs, etc. I chose these because they were my favorites. The video would have been too long had I included each 100, 91, 85, etc. yard TD in franchise history. Maybe that's for another video. Thanks again guys! DC4LIFE
Thanks for clarifying. There were several missing. From memory, Hambrick ran 80 yds against the Eagles in '02 I think. Rod Smith had an 81 yd rec against the Giants in '17, Dantzler - 84 yd KR TD against the 49ers in '02, Martin 85 yd PR against the Eagles in '91, Elliot - 85 yd rec against the Steelers in '16, Cooper - 90 yd TD against the Redskins in '18, Murray - 91 yd TD against the Rams in '11, it was either Woodson or Marion with a 94 yd pick 6 against the Eagles in '94 I think, Teague - 95 yd pick 6 against GB in '99, McCann - 97 yd punt return against the Lions in '10, and Ellis - 98 yd fumble ret against the Cardinals in '98 I think. It would've been a much longer video, but great job though. I always love the research you do when you put these videos together and I love reliving some past glory days.
I know you are a young person and the recent events are more vivid to you, but I remember the days when the Cowboys were just beginning to win. The very greatest of all their long touchdowns was from memory in 1968. It had been a long time coming but Meredith, who I will always say truly helped even build the Cowboys, passed for 95 yards to Bob Hayes, the very fastest man alive. Of course, all the new guys want to brag about speed, but that man, Hayes, was speed to the hilt. I mean he ran past everyone and just kept on going. I think it was a 1st down play too and that was in the day when the quarterback actually called the plays, so it was Meredith that called that play NOT Landry. Anyway, that play stands out to me as one of the greatest of all time and it marked the time when the Cowboys could play with the best of them. Oh well, we old farts remember the years when every Sunday afternoon it was a tough day for our team.
Herschel had two 84 yard scores that same game against the Eagles in 1986. He gained 292 yards of total offense that one day alone, and we still lost. Defines the late 80s that does. Another amazing video. What legends we get to call our own!
Yeah, I was unsure which one to use. I thought the run was slightly better than his td catch. I think he had almost 300 yards combined that game lol. Thanks again bro!
@@thelogicalcowboy You were right. That start stop start run score was something. If I am not mistaken he became the first (still only?) player in NFL history to get a 90+ run, reception, and return in the same year...of course for the wrong team though.
@aaropajari7058 He's the only player in NFL history to have a 90-plus yard rush, reception, and kickoff return in one season. He's the only player in history to have 2k yards for three different organizations. One of the greatest athletes in sports history! Once played 7 different positions in the 1988 season. 7 different positions bro!!!

Not many players of that calibre are willing to block for others or run routes. The perfect Cowboy. Tom Landry in his book named Herschel alongside Lilly and Staubach as the three players with the character he could build a team around.
Great video LC!! I remember several of these plays from seeing them happen while I was watching the game, others I have on tape. I grew up in Beaumont in the 60s & 70s, so I got to see some really great Dallas games on our 'console TV'. It was a great era to have lived in, and wish we could go back to that sometimes. Thanks for the Cowboys memories and keep them coming.
Great video!!! Bullet Bob Hayes was pure speed that the NFL really had never seen & it made other teams seek sprinters who could catch passes. Thanks for showing all those great plays.
Another awesome video LC! I remember seeing a lot of these in the day. The Tony Dorsett 99 yard run will always stand out to me, especially since the Cowboys only had 10 men on the field. I'd even forgotten the Cowboys lost that game lol. And unfortunately Tony didn't keep the ball! Great memories, thanks for posting!

I think during Tony Dorsett's 99 yard touchdown only one member of the Vikings defense got a hand on him. I'm just glad the thing wasn't called back on a penalty. I don't know the number of times I've seen an epic play called back. Now it was only about a 10 yard run and it wasn't the Cowboys it was the Oilers but one year Earl Campbell got hit by nine or 10 members of the Washington defense and still scored. It was unreal.
@@thelogicalcowboy It's in a video titled "Top ten Earl Campbell plays of all time." It's #2 on the list. If you count at least nine members of the defense made contact with him. I don't know of another RB that could have scored on that play other than E.C.
Awesome. Love the concept and the old footage. Would have been cool to see the Gaechter run but unfortunately it's hard to find highlights for many of those early 60s games.
This was only the 2nd time in Dallas Cowboy history that they lost a game when Dorsett rushed for 100 yards or more. From 1977-1986 (including the playoffs) the Cowboys were 42-4 in games in which Dorsett reached the 100 yard mark. That's a winning percentage of 91.3%!
I have watched the Cowboys since their first game so I have enjoyed many great plays. My MOST favorite play was Don Meredith to Bob Hayes for 95 yards with him burning the field down with his super speed. I saw that play when it happened and it was fantastic. This of course came after all those losing years so it was a very sweet time. I consider Hayes the greatest receiver they have had. I liked Meredith too, but I am an old school fan so....
LC, I feel like I've had a seven course meal, yet I had room for a LARGE slice of lattice cinnamon apple pie yummy!! I've enjoyed that video so much. It's the kind of play that you don't see often and when you these many in under 9 minutes, WOW!! Thank you and have a great week.🙏
TD's was 99 yards but by today's standards, it was like a 102-104 yard td. All the plays supposedly longer were run shorter distances than his, he was 3-5 yards deep in the end zone! Lol just like today's receivers gloves and people think today's receivers are better making one handed carches because their gloves are like glue!
You forgot a few: Chuck Howley's 98-yard fumble recovery against the Falcons, you mentioned Gaechter's return, and there's also Greg Ellis who got an 87 yard interception return and a 98 yard fumble return in the same season. Overall though, great list! I love your content!
Whats going on bro? Hope all is well. Thanks for watching! Keep in mind those TDs didn't make the count. I didn't want to add in every long TD in Dallas Cowboys history. Murray had a 91-yard TD against the Rams in his rookie season but I went with Dorsett's 91-yard TD. The same with Ellis's 98-yard TD. Instead of Ellis, I went with Felix Jones's 98-yard TD. There were a lot more TDs that didn't make the list. These were my favorites. Thanks for the imput!
Another great solid video Logic! I’ve always wondered and this might be something to look into, CeeDee Lamb was touted as a number one receiver and possibly the best in his draft class and yet he fell to the Cowboys. Why?
Thanks bro! To answer your question... Keep in mind that the 2020 draft featured 35 receivers who came out and were considered one of the strongest classes in recent memory. Ruggs, Judy, Lamb, Jefferson, Pittman, Aiyuk, and Higgins were all top prospects with number 1 potential, making it a toss-up on which receiver fit each team's philosophy. I think teams would have been happy with either receiver. Also, despite being picked late, Lamb was only the third receiver chosen out of 35.

What about the 84 yard TD Dorsett had against the Eagles in 1977, or the 77 yarder he had against the Cardinals in the same year. Tony D also had a 75 yarder on Monday night against the Pats in 81.
That was actually a 79 yard TD. Oh trust me had it been 80 yards I would have definitely put that in. I'm going to do the best TDS from 50-79 in a few weeks.
@@thelogicalcowboy Good looking out. When I saw the clip, the TV announcer said the interception return was 80 yards, but to me it did look like TH picked the pass off at the 21.
Great plays. They were initially on my list. Keep in mind my intention wasn't to choose every TD from every yard. I chose Dorsett's 91-yard TD over Murray's 91-yard TD. The same with Primetime's 83-yard TD over Pearson 83-yard TD. I chose the highlight I thought was better even if they were the same yards. Thanks again bro!
Appreciate the comment bro. So when I did this video my intention wasn't to highlight every long run ever in Cowboys history. But do highlights based on the number. That's why I have Dorsett's 91-yard TD but not Demarco Murray's 91-yard TD. I chose the highlight that I thought was better even though they might have the same yards. If that makes sense.

@@thelogicalcowboy I didn’t ask anything! My reply was rather sarcastic bc since Jerry Jones took full control over this team they can’t hold a candle to the team’s of Tom Landry and Jimmy Johnson’s
Sorry, to do this to you because you do such a great job, but you missed quite a few. In no particular order. 1991 Kelvin Martin 85-yard punt return vs. Philadelphia. 1965 Jerry Rhome to Bob Hayes 82 yards. 1971 Staubach to Hayes 85 yards vs. the Giants. 1967 Meredith to Hayes 86 yards vs. Cleveland. 1970 Morton to Hayes 80 yards vs. Giants. 1970 Morton to Hayes 89 yards vs. KC. 1968 Hayes 90-yard punt return vs. Pittsburgh. 2011 Demarco Murray 91-yard run vs the Rams. 1977 Dorsett had an 84-yard run. There might be others but these were the ones I was aware of and looked them up to confirm them.
I'm well aware of those plays. Keep in mind this video is about the longest plays in Cowboys history not necessarily every long play in Cowboys history. For example, Murray ran a 91-yard TD against the Rams in his rookie season. I could've gone with that. But I chose Dorsett's 91 yards vs the Colts. If I chose *every* 80+yard TD the video would have been too long. Maybe I can do it in the future. Always great to hear from you bro!
There probably isn't any footage of every long Cowboys touchdown, particularly those from the early 1960's. Amos Marsh had a 101 yard kick return TD in 1962, but I've never been able to find any footage of it. He also caught an 85 yard TD from Eddie LeBaron in the same year, which is available to see on the Shoot For The Stars video, about 2 minutes 55 seconds in. th-cam.com/video/vb1LGPMnIeg/w-d-xo.htmlsi=YJqR7v1y0TjE_6Hv
@tombriggs9259 That was exactly another one of my issues making this video. Mike Geatcher had a 100-yard TD in 1962. But I couldn't find any footage whatsoever. So I picked Mel Renfro's 100-yard td.
@@thelogicalcowboy Marsh's kick return and Gaechter's interception return were in the same Quarter of the same game - Oct 14 1962 vs the Eagles. I believe it was the first time in NFL history that a team had scored 2 100+ yard TD's in the same game.

I love Emmitt but Herschel Walker is my favorite Cowboys running back. He was like a super hero when he was in college and then came to the Cowboys.
And helped the Cowboys win THREE Super Bowls
“99 yards and a half!”
Legendary quote!
Lost the game!
Went to LU with Henderson and he was fast.
Herschel Walker is my favorite Cowboys player of all time.
How long was the Hail Mary.Staubach to Pearson.
🙌🏾
ike thomas back to back games of kickoff returns 49ers and rams in the 70s for touchdowns #37
Wow!!!!!!
Memory lane!
Demarco Murray’s 91 yard against the Rams in 2011 is missing
I chosed Dorsett's 91 yard run instead
Tony Dorsett had a 84 yard run vs Philly , where is it
I chose Walkers 84 yard run instead. Read my post.
@thelogicalcowboy you forgot Reggie Swintons 100 yard kick off return in 2002 at Philadelphia. (Dallas lost 44-13, week 3 or 4 I believe)
@thelogicalcowboy oh shit man good point haha. My bad On that one. Keep the videos coming though!
@@brandonempson8458
Appreciate you bro!
You left out DeMarco Murray’s 91 yards TD be the Rams in 2011
wouldve been nice to see the whole plays instead of parts of em...

It's Dandy Don not don dandy....please
I get that wrong time and time again! Lol. Sorry about that!
It's "Dandy Don", not "Don Dandy" and "...Longest TDs In History" Not "...Longest TD'S In History".
Sorry for those mistakes bro! Have a blessed night.
@@thelogicalcowboy you too man. Sorry for bein' a Grammar Nazi. It's one of my faults. I do enjoy your videos. They bring back great memories of when I was a teen, rooting for America's Team.
Big deal! How about showing some Super Bowl or NFC championship videos from the last 25 years.
Who is your team?
@@thelogicalcowboy Dallas
@bobfisher-zd2lt
So why ask that if you know we haven't won a super bowl in the last 25 years?
@@thelogicalcowboy I didn’t ask anything! My reply was rather sarcastic bc since Jerry Jones took full control over this team they can’t hold a candle to the team’s of Tom Landry and Jimmy Johnson’s
Sorry. Dandy Don not Don Dandy.
But you're a pup... so...
😁
Yeah I butcherd that lol I always get that confused 😕 I've done entire documentaries on Meredith and still get it wrong time and time again lol
Alexander Wright could catch you a nice long pass on Tecmo Bowl. Your probably too young to understand. NP
Tecmo Bowl is a 80s and 90s game. I'm a 80s baby. Classic game! Bo Jackson was unstoppable!
I'm pretty sure he knows this but chosed selected ones to put on his list. In fact if you read the comments he said exactly that.

@tombriggs9259
That was exactly another one of my issues making this video.
Dennis Morgan ?
Great run! Trust me I'm well aware of that play. He was on my list. But he didn't make the cut.
