3V tool steel is the shit!!! Guaranteed to hold an edge longer. Baton through any wood with reasonable width comparison to the blade without chipping. I own Benchmade 200 Puuko and Leuku. 3V beasts. I've Batoned these knives through kiln dried oak, through nasty twists and bends and knots. No chipping, and holds the edge.
I have a Gunny LT 3V in desert ironwood. Fantastic little knife.
Probably the best front pocket edc fixed blade on the planet. The 3v LT nails just about everything.
LT is the way to go imo.
