    Just got mine in the mail yesterday so I'll have plenty of time this winter to get them changed. Looks easy enough. Thanks!

    Guys, awesome video, I am doing major maintenance on my X. One thing to add if anyne interested, I can upload a vid. You can get away (spanner wrench part) with a flathead screwdriver and a rubber mallot

      You can also buy a large socket. I have found that its actually to get the correct torque spec doing it this way. Good idea though.

    Ive read that folks are using different torque values on the main nut (12,15, 30) which do you use?

    How many miles were on This bike when the new bearings were needed. My bike only has 12,000 miles and I have the front end wobble at 40-50 mph ? Thanks so much

      That's about the time that I replaced the neck bearings on my bike.

      @@GoheenCycles what is a symptom of them needing to be replaced?

    • @GoheenCycles
      @GoheenCycles  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ItalianMetalHED Usually when you let go of the bars at about 35 mph you will get a shake in the front end. That "death wobble" is the tell tale sign that it's time to replace.

    OK pretty good video however the locking nut on top of the stem nut does not get torqued as you did at time stamp 9:00 in this video, watch from time 8:53 you installed the stem nut, then the locking plate and the locknut and then torqued the entire assembly. It's the stem nut (the one that goes on first) that gets a preload I think it's 12-15 ft-lbs, then the lock plate drops on and hand tight the lock nut to align with the tabs. The upper triple tree nut will lock everything in place once torqued. That's according to manual and every tech I have ever talked to about this. PLEASE everyone doing this DO NOT TORQUE the lock nut.

    This seems like a pretty extensive job I am concerned of how much this is going to cost me I'm within my 30 days should I return the bike [ handlebars shaking violently when I take my hands off]

    • @ryanshanahan91

      Your handlebars aren't shaking from neck bearings. Check wheel balance. Air pressure. Wheel bearings. Tire condition. Many contributing factors. Unless you trailer your bike alot neck bearings last a long time.

      +Dave Fe when I do them now, I don't remove the tank. I just cover it before I start.
