FamiTracker vs. Furnace | DPCM sample comparison

Furnace tracker is known as a "Multi-tracker" with over 50 different chips in it's support... While FamiTracker is the most well-known NES/Famicom tracker in the universe...
However, in both trackers DPCM works differently... And today we'll see how Furnace's 2A03 DPCM differs from the 2A03 DPCM from FamiTracker.
The samples used for this comparison come from TS2009:WBE KT8D5 tram model by Bald.

This chip is insane, it wasn't playing music like this at the time due to CPU limitations, this chip alone can do a lot, and this cover is wonderful, my childhood in LAN houses in Brazil was worth it, and you're really crazy to be able to do something so sinister in the furnace, congratulations man!!

Not exactly, unlike 7bit PCM, DPCM actually had a DMA for It

Is the furnace comparison being done with puNES? Becaue you csn change the emulation to nsfplay for better results

Yes, it is.
And apparently Furnace emulates DPCM in such a way, that sample rate actually matters when converting PCM .wav samples into DPCM standard.
FamiTracker doesn't have this feature, and i'm not complaining about it...
I think Furnace wants to be a real hardware-based music tracker... 😅

If Furnace implements the DPCM on 2A03 in such a way that would beat FamiTracker, then maybe.
