This doesn't mean they're better or worse it's just two diffrent way to approach career and success. Lissie and the band try to make something they like, and they want to share with the world, they're making their music or much more what they think is their music. Band like 1D are made mainly for teenagers, they're made to make money, to be mainstream, the 1D are a product must be sold to the crowd. Lissie just try to be herself, 1D they can try, but who manage them want them to remain mainstream. The boyband or the girlband, one day they'll split and maybe alone, they will finally find their own way to success, like some member of Take That or Backstreet boys, or Spice Girl and so on did afterl leaving the band :)
