loved this... as someone who decided to drop out and work on improving skills that I've never learned, It was super scary. But I knew that I felt relieved when I decided this path, the headaches weren't from being unsure anymore. Watching you has been a huge inspo for me as someone who is also Canadian and loved playing league I feel like there is someone else that gets me. I hope you never end up selling courses and continue growing!
This video comes to me at a really weird time, you don't even know. I feel like we are living pretty similar lives, you're just a little further along than me. Let me explain: in 1 month I am quitting my 6 figure data scientist job from Vancouver, Canada with my husband and take all our savings to start entrepreneurship in Kenya. Which is what I'm telling people, but really it's to start a TH-cam channel about my life journey and create a data analytics start up (maybe, I don't know yet, something to leverage my professional skills and call my own, right?). I'm moving to literal Africa because we need to live somewhere to cheap because I'm about to make 0 dollars soon LOL. Like you, I have done things "the right way" until up to right now, where things aren't making much sense for me to the point I feel like I am living an unfilled life. I feel a tremendous amount of guilt because I have it really good. And a high level of fearing that I will fail. But like you said in your video, I don't want to be a "cog in the wheel" anymore. I want to have control of my life and live on my own terms. You don't know how this video helps specifically me. Currently I have a lot of anxiety about this new change. I already sent in my job resignation and have our tickets booked so there's no going back :') I am incredibly grateful to see a journey like yours to show me that everything is going to work out, cheers.
It seems like it's a really exciting new adventure ahead of you with a lot of unknowns and uncertainties! I'm honestly rly glad my story could resonate with you & found at the right time :)
Great and inspiring video James, all of those hard decisions you had to make have paid off and no doubt will only keep getting better. I'm 18 roaming around and trying different things to achieve my life goals and watching your videos gives me confidence to just take the leap and not look back.
Thanks man, I’m rly glad it’s helpful for you! I definitely think trying different things while you’re younger is the way to go, wish you the best man 🤘
quit my job 1 month and a half ago to start a business with a friend - this video was amazing I really like how you just tell it how it is. good luck with the agency!
Really amazing video man. I'm only 16, but was really cool to see that you were just a normal kid, not someone who made a million before 20 or something. Thanks for giving some awesome insight into what that kind of life/world is like, really really rare now-a-days. You're definitely going high.
Awesome video, man. I’m in a very similar situation to where you were. 25 making 150k base comp, but feeling super drained and uncomfortable playing the corporate game. Slowly but surely building up my confidence to go independent. Keep up the great work!
thanks man! yeah I was working corporate from 22-26, it's a really tricky spot where you make a decent amount of money but you're not quite satisfied, but you're also comfortable AND drained to pursue riskier things. The golden handcuffs are real
I work in marketing for a major e-commerce platform and I am looking to start freelancing very soon and eventually start an agency so this video was very insightful, hopefully more content from you to come!
Great video! For some reason I enjoy this format, where you share an interesting story and your opinion talking to the camera. Editing is also nice, feels very balanced, good luck!
Usually when i see these type of videos i always expect them to sell me course or something. But this has been nothing but an honest video telling your story. Rn im studying tech and also have a passion for video editing stuff so this topic really hits close to home cus i too am really considering doing this as a job in the future. Keep posting bro, just earned urself a sub.
Dang I’m relating to this so much. Covid flipped the script for me looking for jobs right out of school. Took time to learn ads, fell in love with content marketing, got a few clients; use that to get a full time role, then another. Now I’m in that “cushy” gig wondering if I “have that dog in me” to step out. Love the content man. Keep the raw unfiltered views coming. Refreshing stuff compared to Daniel Dalen type stuff.
I started working at Nestle almost immediately after college, I totally understand what you meant by your skill not being useful outside the company, thats a huge issue with getting comfortable in a big reputable company with an already pre established system
I've absolutely loved seeing your videos here and on instagram, and hearing your unfiltered entrepreneurial story. I honestly feel like I'm in the exact same spot you were before you took the leap, so watching these is really inspiring and encouraging for me 💙 keep up the awesome videos, I'm excited to follow along!
How does this only have 100 views. Bro. That stuff about dads working 9-5 (I work 7:30-5) and not being there to watch your kids grow up hit. Thank you.
uhh... lol it was definitely a blessing in disguise (for me), it was only because of covid that I was able to move back home, work remotely and quiet quit my job
"i'm too busy running my business so i don't even have a fucking course to sell you" legend
THANKS FOR WATCHING TILL THE END 😭😭😭😂😂😂

Quit my corporate job at Nike to start an AI agency this past month... also from Toronto. Sick vid

I started working at Nestle almost immediately after college, I totally understand what you meant by your skill not being useful outside the company, thats a huge issue with getting comfortable in a big reputable company with an already pre established system
Yeah Nestle from what I hear is pretty similar to L’Oreal, both being CPG companies. It’s a tough realization to have, def rocks your world view a bit

"so luckily covid happened in 2020"
uhh... lol it was definitely a blessing in disguise (for me), it was only because of covid that I was able to move back home, work remotely and quiet quit my job
@@ItsJamesZhao haha i got it, it was just funny phrasing i suppose; i also enjoyed remote work during the pandemic
