Now to me this is the sound of country music...not hip hop rapping country. I mean, I apologize if that hurts anyone's feelings but country music went through a time there where I thought country music was going to go away. Be swallowed up by hick hop crossover rap music. Then when you got guys like Luke Combs and Dylan Carmichael who come along and practically resurrect the almost dead sound of good country music, it's a darn good time! I'd like to see more country artists get back on the road to singing the real sounds of country music. The kind that talks about real life things, real hurt, real family, real joy, true love..you know, the kind that takes more than getting drunk and rolling around in the hay on a Friday night, blessings from God, parents having a real relationship with their kids, picnics, BBQs, old stories from the grand parents, and everything else that goes with all of those. That's country music.
By all means, I'm not disagreeing with you, as I believe everyone's entitled to their own opinion, but as a lifelong supporter of traditional Country music, I'm ashamed by most of what I hear on the radio - to the point of barely listening to it! I wholeheartedly believe that as a society, we've strayed from good work ethics, respect, common sense, compassion, etc., and I love the life lessons we're taught by Hank Williams, George Jones, Merle Haggard, Conway Twitty, Loretta Lynn, Patsy Cline (the list is endless). I completely understand your view on Hick Hop/Country Rap, but unfortunately, a lot of the recognition is given to individuals who aren't accurately representing the Southern/Country way of life. If you haven't listened, I recommend Ryan Upchurch's early music, and he's released albums of multiple genres. He's not everyone's cup of tea, but if you support hard-working, self-made, honest people, he & the artists he associates himself with speak the truth, and for those who are overlooked and under-appreciated! If you give him a chance, you'll most likely be introduced to Struggle Jennings, Jelly Roll, Adam Calhoun, Mesus, Brodnax, and many others, but they're all people with rough upbringings who turned their situations in success! They want to use their experiences to educate people, and encourage them to follow a different path from the beginning. In all aspects of life, I try to keep an open mind, and remember that one doesn't represent all, and all does not represent one!
