In my opinion, the spark that started a fire under Matt rule was the vitriol and criticism from the fan base earlier this year about the performance of the team on the field. If you lose fan support, things should go south in a hurry. I don't think coach was acting scared. I applaud him for being bold and making decisions much quicker than any prior coaching administrations have in recent memory. I still believe we've got the right guy and I trust him to be working hard everyday. To make this the best team, it can be. Gbr
Exactly. He was the only coach who didn’t let his pride and hubris get in the way. He knew the fan base was right and knew he could buy himself more time if adapted quickly.
That’s a hell of a lot of assumptions about another persons mindset. You can’t assume that about a person unless they tell you. Maybe try asking him. I could just as easily assume he doesn’t like losing since he’s a competitor and got tired of guys going through the motions and started making changes. You know how I know you’re wrong? He started talking to Holgerson a year ago, had been talking to him, and when the moment came he brought him in. Had he not been planting seeds Holgerson would have never came. The fans give themselves too much credit. What should we be like? Ohio State? Booing our own team every game. What has that done for them? 1 championship in the last 22 years. So don’t tell me being a negative fan base equals championships.
A head coach fine? They need to pass a law that creates equity for schools. If a conference can fine a coach for talking about the refs then the school should be able to fine the conference when the refs miss a call that was also reviewed in the booth. Nebraska vs Ohio State, spotting the ball 2 yards off, that should be a fine. That call could have changed the trajectory or Nebraska’s season, kept Ohio State out of the playoffs… these things matter. It affects the money a school makes, recruiting, etc. but if a coach says one word about the refs they get fined. That is inequity and it needs to be fixed.
I'm in a state of mourning over the death of College football. Saban agrees. Bye bye loyalty to the place you really rooted for. Player wise I mean. History and traditions are gone. All for generational wealth. What would you do. 18 and poor, but here's a million to sign and play for us. Don't even have to take a snap, for years. Isn't this great. GBR 4 EVER
Anything they can do to limit portal time is a good thing. Waiting until after bowl games respects coaches and all the hard work they put in trying to get their team to a bowl and all the work they put in preparing for their bowl games. It might just teach kids that life is about more than chasing the almightly dollar.
The wire is the greatest show ever. And it’s 5 seasons Sean. The wire does start slow but the writing is genius level. Every time you rewatch, you see something that you missed before. It’s also a show that requires your attention. They don’t spoon feed it to you
Not sure I’ve seen anyone mention this. Were bielema and illinois faking injuries on offense this year against Nebraska? I was at the game and it seemed like any time Illinois got behind the sticks on first down(1-2 yard loss) they would have a player go down and give themselves a free timeout before 2nd down.
Even if you limit the portal to post-bowl season, guys will still just leave their team, (“Opt out of the rest of the season” or whatever) publicly declare for the portal before it opens & the same problem will be there. You’d have to stop people (with contracts) from leaving mid-season.
TNT was a huge mistake to broadcast the palyoffs. Had they just put them all on ABC, CBS or NBC the ratings wouldve been through the roof for all of the playoff games.
Contrary to perception, most college fans don't want to go to a sports bar to watch espn if they don't have it. I won't watch the championship game live if I have to head to a sports bar to watch. If it were the Huskers, sure, but it's not so I'll watch highlights latter.
You should keep your personal opinion about a person especially when he probably knows way more than someone that only has negative opinions. Just saying! You go Sip. 100 brother
Ratings mostly due to only ESPN. From a football fan, I would rather watch a "Meaningless" College game over any NFL game save the Superbowl. I find the NFL boring. I have started watching Canadian Football more
NIL was one if the better things for UNL IMO. Do I like it no... but if we can't recruit like OSU and Miami etc... then we need to do what we can to get kids to Lincoln... only changes since it was implemented is teams can do it legally. Schools have been doing it for decades let's not pretend they weren't.
Not sure I really get how changing the transfer window dates changes much. From a player perspective, "Pay me or I'm not playing in the bowl game and I'm entering the portal on 1/2." Or from a tampering perspective, "here's a check to skip your bowl game and transfer to our school on 1/2." Whether the window is actually open or not doesn't matter much, does it?
I hate the faking injury thing... shouldn't be a thing or allowed. My take. If you go down wether fake or not you should be out rest of the game or quarter or something not just the drive. You don't think a coach will send a 3rd string guy to go in and take a knee??? Cmon man
I don't buy Nebraska is in the top echelon of NIL programs. If we did, we would have a much better roster. Let's be honest, Ohio State and Oregon are in a completely different league of NIL than Nebraska. If I am wrong please tell Me how many more 5 star players we have than Ohio State.
Big Boy Bielma wouldn’t be a fan of that “faking injury” rule change. They had multiple players go down whenever Nebraska was marching the ball down the field on Illinois back in September.
@@MikeBryant-m9y Yes, recruiting has been good for O-Line. However a lot of our guys are unproven and haven't played much. So there is some concern about the O-Line. It's just not as bad as people make it out to be
Love the vibe here, especially the energy Abby brings. Thanks for the chill listen :)
Robin's back in the house!!! That's what I'm talkin' 'bout ol' son!!!
When you said that Rob will be here Friday also it made my day.

@dankcoyote totally agree with everything you said. A poor coach is one who let's the fan base make the decisions. That is nothing but a disaster.

Long Snapper will be the biggest improvement. Add up the points lost last year due to bad snaps.
Best show to watch for the rest of my life...Seinfeld.
the wire is indeed the best show ever
Sipple makes this show great
True, but Rob isn’t bad. Sipple just has a big personality

One tv series, common, Gilligan’s Island or Scooby Doo !
Vincent Valentine was a stud too! 3rd round draft guy

Didn't expect to hear the subtle shots at my Bears today 😞
I like the NBA as well. Let Sip live his best life! 😂
How are they going to make the portal window before the championship game? Don’t those kids need the opportunity to transfer after their season?
Nebraska finally after some big names this transfer portal.
Simple staying connected to the yutes,,
The Wire is it. No doubt.. The most rewatchable.
Imagine an interior D Line of Suh, Crick, and Robinson
With Grant Wistrom and Randy Gregory at DEs. I know Wistrom was 1990s, but still.....
Move the transfer windows and spring practice to june. Eliminates the need for early enrollees from both transfers and hs students.
Come on, Robin! (And Sean)
Hoiberg won at Wisconsin in 2022.
Rich donors should be able to spend their money the way the like. If you want to tighten a window ok but pay for players helps Nebraska.
Love the fake injury rule
We need to appreciate the pressure Dylan puts on this coaching staff!
I meant to keep going. After the Great WIRE comes Breaking Bad, Sopranos, Lonesome Dove and Better Call Saul
TNT was a huge mistake to broadcast the palyoffs. Had they just put them all on ABC, CBS or NBC the ratings wouldve been through the roof for all of the playoff games.
Show that is good: terminal list
The proposed portal dares will still be a problem with playoff teams.
The Wire is an excellent, and surprising pick, Sean. Impressive
Malick Collins??

New cohost is a big improvement for your show, Good info and I Like that I don't have to fast forward every time Sipple is blathering on.
Washut isn’t new, he’s been on the show plenty. Sipple is good stuff though. I mean really all 3 of these guys make this the best husker podcast

They get to see a preview of the NBA finals. That's wishful thinking.
Wanna stop tampering. Give the players 2 days to enter. Then give the schools 2 weeks to sort through and interview prospective players
Crick was massively overrated. Especially against much weaker B12 olines. Wouldn't crack the top 5 of those mentioned.
