ClickStart Gaming he spent a lot of time & money on an animation for the entire worlds album but scrapped it because it wasn't up to standard, i think if he was able to work with A-1 for the album he'd have done it but time + money are a big thing... hopefully the next album gets something like this

Basic Summary : The world is about end, the girl ie. Rin's father decides that he wants to save his daughter so he builds a simulation machine, then induces a comatose state in his daughter, wipes her memories and places her in the simulation machine , the reason for wiping her memories is so that she doesn't feel lonely and instead thinks that this is how the world is originally and gives her a virtual tablet so that she can create anything ( to avoid insanity induced by boredom) .The simulation machine comes complete with life support, the red tubes probably carry blood and provide nutrients directly to her body and the black tubes probably take the waste from out her body , the metal-ish underpants probably serve the same function . Now Rin in the simulation begins gathering her memory fragments hence, the visions of her past , and in the real world she is drifting through space . So what about the e-mail ??? , her father probably set it so that after a set amount of days passed ( 2568 something ) this e-mail would be delivered to her in the event he fails to stop it from sending (he died), kinda like a fail safe . So In the end after the "Thank you" i guess she probably dies coz i guess the email must've been a program that tells the simulation to stop because what's the point in continuing to live for like forever

Seeing your reaction made me realize the Shelter MV is one of the few films I'd give almost anything to rewatch for the first time. It's up there with "Seeing Avatar 3D IMAX in theaters for the first time," and "The first huge twist in Mr. Robot". Which is pretty impressive for basically six minutes and a few sentences of dialogue.

Like with the ending of Code Geass, Clannad, and ummm, Idk alot of other ones, I went and looked up an explanation to get a better understanding of their amazing endings. I understood Shelter for the most part, except what the message said and who it was from. To learn it was from her Dad was something cool to learn about.
She was put into a capsule by her father because the world was ending and he wanted her to live. So she is forever in a simulation and will never wake up. Despite the memories with her father depressing her, the memories are to help her to move forward
I have seen Shelter so many times now, and it still hits me hard. The beautiful story fits perfect with this song. I personally thought what Rin's dad messaged her was so touching. She may be in a simulator, but she's still strong and it's truely beautiful.
Personally I think that Tokyo or basically the whole world was going to collide with something like a planet that would end life. Rin, the girl, was about ten at the time and was SHELTERED from this news by her father. As their days became numbered Rin's father spent as much time with her as shown in some of the memories in the video like when Rin got her teddy bear. Soon her father created this machine that allowed Rin to stay in a world where she could create anything she wanted and so she could be safe. When the day came her father hooked Rin up to the machine and most likely wrote the message that Rin read at the end of the video. He probably died as of the rest of the world while Rin stayed in her world for at least 7 years or so. Although there really isn't such a nice ending in this story, I think it's pretty beautiful :3
Koala 911 good theory, but I don't think it was named because she was sheltered from the news, I think it was named because as said from the lyrics, as Rins dad protected her from her inevitable death, Rin promised to "Shelter" all the remaining memories she has of him, thus why she said at the end that the memories made her stronger.
I don't think this should be made into a movie or a series unlike most people because it tells the bulk of the girl's story in just six minute and I think that's pretty good for me. I guess you could make a another video about the dad (Brother?)

Seeing your reaction made me realize the Shelter MV is one of the few films I'd give almost anything to rewatch for the first time. It's up there with "Seeing Avatar 3D IMAX in theaters for the first time," and "The first huge twist in Mr. Robot". Which is pretty impressive for basically six minutes and a few sentences of dialogue.

Like with the ending of Code Geass, Clannad, and ummm, Idk alot of other ones, I went and looked up an explanation to get a better understanding of their amazing endings. I understood Shelter for the most part, except what the message said and who it was from. To learn it was from her Dad was something cool to learn about.

I have seen Shelter so many times now, and it still hits me hard. The beautiful story fits perfect with this song. I personally thought what Rin's dad messaged her was so touching. She may be in a simulator, but she's still strong and it's truely beautiful.

Personally I think that Tokyo or basically the whole world was going to collide with something like a planet that would end life. Rin, the girl, was about ten at the time and was SHELTERED from this news by her father. As their days became numbered Rin's father spent as much time with her as shown in some of the memories in the video like when Rin got her teddy bear. Soon her father created this machine that allowed Rin to stay in a world where she could create anything she wanted and so she could be safe. When the day came her father hooked Rin up to the machine and most likely wrote the message that Rin read at the end of the video. He probably died as of the rest of the world while Rin stayed in her world for at least 7 years or so. Although there really isn't such a nice ending in this story, I think it's pretty beautiful :3
Koala 911 good theory, but I don't think it was named because she was sheltered from the news, I think it was named because as said from the lyrics, as Rins dad protected her from her inevitable death, Rin promised to "Shelter" all the remaining memories she has of him, thus why she said at the end that the memories made her stronger.

I don't think this should be made into a movie or a series unlike most people because it tells the bulk of the girl's story in just six minute and I think that's pretty good for me. I guess you could make a another video about the dad (Brother?)

I'm in love with this video. It's the best animated short I've seen hands down. And those feels get stronger each time I've watched it. The song gives me the chills super hard.
You what makes this video sadder Rin (the girl) might be dead inside that pod! The proof is that she has been in there for 7 years with no food or water. (How I got the 7 years is because of the no message day counter.) Somehow if she is alive that means she is supposedly the last human alive.
Last human alive, kept alive in a matrix style simulation, when her body is kept in hibernation-like hypersleep by machines that feed her exactly right levels of proper nutrition, along with some sort of oxygen replenishing machines that give her the little oxygen her sleeping body needs. She will live. Alone. Aware that mankind is gone and she will always be alone. A living memento of a now gone race. Until her body gives out with age. And with the machines taking good care of her, that might be another 80+ years.
If you ask me, that's torture.
