@Catheidan, the bear being the final boss would have been the darkest tales ending, that game was a disappointment but weirdly had a similar story, only you were the teddy bear
If someone wants the last song used for the boss fight, it's from a game called "Atelier Ayesha" and the Ost is called "Yesterday's Enemy is Today's Ingredient". Absolute banger.
So glad you hit this one! I was one of the portrait-tier backers, and it definitely had a major glow-up from the initial previews. The game definitely seems super easy at first, but it gets real challenging, and the moment they take your bear it's on hard mode...that last boss was ROUGH. Cheers!
I finished it back when it released because i really loved the demo, got 100% achivements. Gorgeous game, great character art, Europa is fine as hell, Apino is cute, combat bit easy once you get a hang of it - besides the bosses that are done well. Tough but fair. The whole armor mechanic is fun, and the little touches with attacks being different is something they didn't have to do, but is just cool. If i could change something, i would add more fast travel points, but other than that - stellar game.
As someone who completed this game I can say this was easily one of my favorite new metroidvanias in the past couple years, and the art was incredible.
Can you talk about LUCID it is a self proclaimed "Celesteoidvania" witch combines the precise movement and platforming of celeste, and the exploration and upgrade system of a Metroidvania!. its disheartening that not enough people have heard of this game so I would LOVE is you were to talk about this game Please and thank you.
Dude, the arthas song instantly took me back years to wotlk, it's so weird to have such heavy sad nostalgia for a game that's still going (albeit greatly changed from the way it used to be)
Saw the notification, proceeded to see what game was, downloaded it, finished it at 101% on weekend, saw the video just now. Well, amazing game, amazing video, cheers! *proceeds genuinely to play Sea of Stars till death*
There is a way that Indeimaus's voice calms me from a hard nights drinking into working the next morning that makes me love the man. I need like 10 shirts if I could afford them.
I’ve officially entered the MAUSxCVLT, get my merch in a few days. Grabbed one of each because they’re all way too badass to choose between. Cheers Indei, keep being you my dude.
This game has something the I wish all modern games could adapt: the fact that your armor changes automatically according to the enviroment, it makes the game much more fluid and entertaining. I really love this game, one of my favorite games of 2023.
@@MarkDeSade100 I mean the particular aesthetic of the character from this. Gives off a vibe of classic fantasy princess but with armour plates and big weapons. I like it.
I have played this game and I'll say the movement is extremely fun, and hope they use it in their next project or revisit it in a later installment. I'm surprise no one is talking about this game so I hope you'll continue to play this now it's out. And I LOVE the art work of Mama on your thumbnail, she looks both cool, badass, and sexy 😍
24:06 I DID NOT EXPECT THE SUDDEN ATELIER AYESHA OST! Yesterday's Enemy is Today's Ingredient is such a banger song and fits weirdly well with the boss! Only boss OST better from that game might be Slag Dance.
That Dreythus fight made me remember that the Art / Sound team for Warcraft has never missed. The game, and company, may be falling apart, but you can always rely on those two departments to knock it out of the park.
@@FreerunningGamer As they should. They brought Michiru Yamane (Castlevania SotN) Manami Matsumae (Mega Man series IIRC), and Norihiko Hibino (Fom Metal Gear Solid) to collab on the OST so..
i often have this conundrum where maus plays this sick game, and a few minutes in I want to play this game so I stop watching the video to avoid spoilers.
Atelier Ayesha's _Yesterday's Enemy Is Today's Ingredient_ actually seem to fit really well with that last boss. It might be the editing and my love of the Dusk games tinging my opinion though, I 'unno.
Maus should check our Astliba Revision. It’s not exactly a metroidvania, but it is a side scroller action rpg with a few metroidvania elements; and it’s one of my favorites for sure. The combat is just fantastic.

Indei with another banger of a video as per usual, I know shocktober is coming up and may I be so bold as to suggest playing Faith: The unholy trinity, its a great series of games with a unique artstyle/ great use of rotoscoping to animate really fluently and with outstanding emotional detail given the low bit atari like style the game is in
metroidvania month is over... time for blaspehmous 2
Still a metroidvania, so I'll count that as a win.
I was just about to say: "What about Blasphemous 2?!" Good to know it won't go unnoticed!
Metroidvania month may be (almost) over... but that just means it's almost Shocktober baby!
It's gonna be shit :(
Halberd Studios(9 Years of Shadows) seem to be working on their next game, Mariachi Legends.
That Vaati bit was flawless

Whoever designed the mc's armors has to be a huge Saint Seiya fan.
That why they look so bad?
Reason I was more invested in the armors than the game itself.

Moral of this game: Life is hard without your teddy bear.
I fully expected the bear to be the final boss. Too many grimdark twists in my games, I suppose
@Catheidan, the bear being the final boss would have been the darkest tales ending, that game was a disappointment but weirdly had a similar story, only you were the teddy bear

It is. Feels like life has only gotten harder and harder since I lost my teddy bear 4 years ago in another city.

Thank you! I was JUST about to leave a comment and ask that exact question.

Thanks!
Love those games
I like how the protag basically goes from Alucard to Samus to Pit in the same game!
She basically also wields Saint Seiya Armors and turns into the Red Ranger
9 Years of Shadows is a rarity in gaming: a game that looks better in its release than its preview
Looks shit stop the cap
i kinda like more the old art tho
This one is a classic. Shout-out to Best Indie Games for introducing me to 9YoS.
Amen, clemmie is great
Is it? I can't even play it because the game keeps crashing after the tutorial boss.
Nah its hot ass
I remember finding the artist for the non-pixel artwork and was blown away. this looks so fun
Who’s the artist?
I love how metroidvania month always goes long. Thanks indei!
Some killer edits on the final boss, great work. The art of this game really gives me Demon's Crest vibes, one of my favorite SNES games.
