- Gioachino Rossini's Petite Messe solennelle, sung by the WDR Rundfunkchor under the direction of chief conductor Nicolas Fink. Accompanied by Philip Mayers on piano and Petteri Pitko on harmonium; this is a pressure wind harmonium made by Schiedmayer, built around 1915. Recorded live on 12.02.2023 at the WDR Funkhaus Cologne.

Diese Version des Meisterwerks von Rossini ist ohne Zweifel eine der besten, die ich je gehört habe. Es ist außergewöhnlich ausgeführt, hat den passenden Rhythmus und vor allem den tiefen Charakter, den Rossini ihm zweifellos verleihen wollte.

Sehr interessantes Video. Sollte es in dem Stück nicht einen Teil Crucifixus geben? Diesen hat zum Beispiel der letzte Kastratensänger Moreschi vorgetragen. Ist dass das gleiche Stück?

Das Crucifixus ist im Credo-Teil zu finden und beginnt etwa bei Minute 43:50 😊

Why only one piano ? Aren't there two pianos in the original version ?
Originally it was written for two pianos and harmonium. But many publishers also offer versions for one piano and harmonium.

Very poignant first number and opening. I suspect it goes off after that!
I don't like that piano hacking, doesn't seem to fit in with the coir and the orchestra. Gounod anytime.
What on earth do you mean. He has wonderful tone. Everyone would rather have an orchestra, but this man executes perfectly with what he has
