LOL I love that the actors mouth every single word including the stumbling and bumbling of the words. Especially Crispin Clover because he's generally such a serious, intense actor.
I've always felt that when Comedy Central bought this show, they pointed to this episode and went, "But, that? That there is too drunk. For insurance reasons, please keep people less drunk than this."
I remember thinking this episode was specifically hilarious back when it came out. But to see Duncan Trussell over the years after first being introduced to him by this video makes it even more hilarious.
from the bottom of my heart, i genuinely feel badly for you in that moment lol i've had that happen before (it was tomatoes and a particularly gory scene in a show...i stopped eating.)
Honestly, when I clicked on this I was thinking Reilly was gonna be Edison and Glover was gonna be Tesla. Guess you could say I was *shocked* at this turn of events.
This HAS to be the best episode. John C. Riley AND Crispin Glover?! EPIC! Love this episode/historical event/re-enaction. I watch this once a week, just to put a smile on my face. Thanks for the upload!! I'm a fan of "Drunk History" for life.
I'm at the beginning of the episode and I'm so pumped to watch the rest that I had to scroll down and leave a comment. I was watching another episode before this, and I was actually thinking "imagine if they got Duncan Trussel to be the drunk guy.... nah, they wouldn't do that his voice is too weird" and then I saw a comment that said that the Tesla episode is good so I clicked on it.
Drunk History in my opinion is the best thing that Funny or Die has ever brought to the "silver screen" (even if that means the computer monitor). Now, I think this may be my favorite episode of all the Drunk History creations. I think Derek Waters is the electric Jesus…
I feel like there must be more behind this pigeon thing. He really focused on those pigeons... UPDATE: I just looked it up and apparently he actually did fall in romantic love with a pigeon. “I loved that pigeon as a man loves a woman, and she loved me. As long as I had her, there was a purpose to my life.”
The pigeons were used for communication because he was being spied upon by the OSS which was the precursor to the CIA who had stayed in the hotel room by his at the New Yorker. He couldn't do anything without them knowing. It was a necessity that grew into a trustworthy reliable relationship.
Have you noticed in history how many great inventors never got to enjoy their inventions because they spend the rest of their lives fighting to defend their inventions. The Wrights had to fight Curtis into the 40s about the first manned powered flight.
While I get where youre coming from, looks and all, I have to disagree. I cant imagine anyone else being more funny as Edison after seeing Crispin Gliver do it. That shot of him electrocuting animals as Duncans saying "Edison, was an asshole." LMAO
Tesla is a god! Hilarious Drunk telling of his 'history'. lol "Tesla was the electric Jesus." - I think I need to add this to my signatures from now on! LMAO
lol, you might want to recheck your facts, because if you think Marconi invented the Radio you're fooling yourself. Tesla didn't 'invent' AC, but he did invent the process to harness and deliver it.
David Sykes "After learning of Hertz demonstrations of wireless transmission, inventor Nikola Tesla began developing his own system based on Hertz and Maxwell's ideas, primarily as a means of wireless lighting and power distribution.[12][13] Tesla, concluding that Hertz had not demonstrated airborne electromagnetic waves (radio transmission), went on to develop a system based on what he thought was the primary conductor, the earth.[14] In 1893 demonstrations of his ideas, in St. Louis, Missouri and at the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia, Tesla proposed this wireless power technology could also incorporate a system for the telecommunication of information."
David Sykes You're talking about disputes over patents between Marconi and Tesla over cross Atlantic radio transmissions. Tesla did not invent the Radio. And while Tesla invented some motors for use of AC current... he did not invent either radio or AC electricity. Fucking educate yourself and stop buying into bullshit.
Many people took Hertz's ideas and used it for short range radio transmissions before Tesla even became interested in the technology. You're wrong and you probably attribute many myths to Tesla like so many other fucking idiots who now nothing about him.
*2:52* lol....my favorite part of this whole series is how they'll dub the drunk person's monologue over footage of the actors mouthing along to it, in perfect unison. It's absolutely hilarious....what a simple genius idea. I fucking love Duncan Trussell. One of the coolest humans ever. *_SO_* glad he survived his cancer ordeal....this world would be a *_much_* darker place if her weren't in it.
This is my favorite one. I love how the pigeon's eyes gave off light so beauteous that he knew he'd never be able to invent something so amazing. Much laughter escaped my mouth.
Man is such an underrated actor, one of the best. And to think that the producers of Charlie's Angels wanted him to be a speaking character but he stuck to his guns and delivered such a perfect performance.
GENIUS !!! Actual histoy !!! The kind of which use to leave me nodding off in class. Told by a blind drunk, ( yet well versed to spite his condition ) gentleman. The concept alone is a commical masterpiece !!! I laughed....Hard....and gained a bit of historical knowledge. I had no idea i was even learning !!!!! I love it !!!
I never knew what i was put on this earth for, but after countless viewings of Americans getting drunk on cans half the size of ours, and never finishing a bottle, i as a 6'5" Irishman shall drink every American man, woman and child under the table. Especially you, 13y old Billy from Wisconsin!
I don't drink to extremes anymore, but back when I did, and would occasionally throw up, I would always say to myself "I know I chewed it". The brief moment of levity would make things a tiny bit better.
TESLA, the biggest phenomena yet. A inventor who almost got forgotten from the pages of history, because he cared more for the purpose of invention then the invention it self or the profit it. Even though I wasn't laughing and got really sad while watching it, I loved it. Real artistic work. THERE IS A SLIM LINE THAT MOVES BETWEEN COMEDY AND TRAGEDY!!! Good work, thanks!!!:-)
Jesus Christ, as long as i've been alive, this is one of the funniest things I've ever seen. Holy shit you guys, this is brilliant from start to finish.
Still the best Drunk History episode after 10 years
agree
Here for the same reason 😂
Agreed.
Easily!
It is the stuff of legends.
The gold standard of drunk history. Wish I could see this for the first time again.
I'm seeing this for the first time. This is hilarous.
First drunk history I've ever watched and I was on the floor with laughter. "Tesla was the electric Jesus "
+Mick Virrill Thanks for watching!
Me too dude
Same!
"I can't breathe." 🤣💀
It was worth him coming within inches of death just to get that magical phrase. .."Tesla was the Electric Jesus."
Simply brilliant!👏👏
LOL I love that the actors mouth every single word including the stumbling and bumbling of the words. Especially Crispin Clover because he's generally such a serious, intense actor.
I love how perfectly they match the lips
I think they use something to achieve this.
playing it on loudspeakers while filming.
"And he fell in love with one specific pigeon... What an asshole"
OMFG I'm crying
But Chris that pigeon was cute.
Chris P
My favorite part
It was an adorable pigeon. Makes sense.
It was an adorable pigeon.
He knew he'd never invent anything worthy of pigeon.
This is the best ever Drunk History episode. Nothing ever came close after this. These actors, Duncan Trussel, too perfect.
I dunno, Jack Black as Orson Welles is pretty freakin epic
Agreed
I laughed so hard when he said "mark twain would be there crying"
Lolololololol
osarenigglet one of the best lines. 🤣
That's a fact though! Mark wrote about it! Tesla did teleport right in front of his ass
@@pika23 doubt it. Actually, I'm certain that didn't happen. But it's great myth making on Tesla's part!
"This is a nightmare. I'm in hell. This is hell."
- Nikola Tesla
Still laughing at this comment a day later. Made more funny by John C Reilly's acting out the delivery of the line.
I thought it was John C Riley coughing or sneezing at 4:10 then....oh shit!
Jimmy Zappa Came back to watch this just for this quote.
great!
i repeat this quote frequently in conversation. no one knows where it's from, but thats totally okay
This (Drunk History) is probably… no, DEFINITELY the funniest thing that Funny or Die has ever done/helped to produce!
+voicetube Glad you enjoyed. Thanks for watching!
+Funny Or Die You are most welcome :-)
+Funny Or Die PS - I would LOVE to do voiceovers for you folks.
He continued from the bathroom floor lolol. That set me off.
I've always felt that when Comedy Central bought this show, they pointed to this episode and went, "But, that? That there is too drunk. For insurance reasons, please keep people less drunk than this."
And it’s suffered because of it.
I wonder if Duncan Trussell has ever been in a drunken tussle??
I laughed harder at this 6 year old comment than I should have. Omfg I'm DEAD 😂🤣💀
7 years too late but still gold
Nice 👏🏻
Drunk and tussellin Duncan Trussell
What does Crispin Glovers' lip synching, John C. Reillys' wig and Duncan Trussell all have in common? They all deserve an award for awesomeness.
Agreed 100% the best one
'Tesslar was the electric Jesus.... I can't breath'.
+jessie nim I thought it was over, then that last line had me rolling on the floor!
Breathe*
*BREATHE. THE WORD IS BREATHE.
I was crying with laughter 5 minutes..Briliant! Thanks so much for improving my current depression and shitty mood, it helped a lot.
"Mark Twain would be there crying"
I literally spat my tea out onto my computer
Sierra Ho "look at him, he's on fire!"
This is the best one, that guy was great.
probably the Absinthe
I listen to his podcast once a week... "The Duncan Trussell Family Hour."
Kevin Turner Powerful Kevin Turner.
its Duncan Trussell not just some guy, he is on jre quite often.
Jesse James
Yes, and The Joe Rogan Experience. :)
"there's pineapple pieces, I know I chewed it"
laughing my ass off
"Tesla was the electric Jesus"
"There's pineapple pieces, I know I chewed it."
Tesla.... was the electric Jesus.... I can't breathe.
Ikr?
I remember thinking this episode was specifically hilarious back when it came out. But to see Duncan Trussell over the years after first being introduced to him by this video makes it even more hilarious.
He knew he would never invent anything worthy of pigeon.
"There are pineapple pieces... I knew I chewed it"
That was my favorite part!!!
By far, my favorite Drunk History. Glad to see Duncan on Joe Rogan today. Had to watch it again.
I was lifting a spoonful of vegetable soup to my mouth as he started vomiting. Was not a pleasurable moment.
from the bottom of my heart, i genuinely feel badly for you in that moment lol i've had that happen before (it was tomatoes and a particularly gory scene in a show...i stopped eating.)
I literally had just bitten off a bite of my hamburger and I jumped and it fell out of my mouth...
Thx for the warning. I won't be finishing this video.
I'm fecking DEAD. 😂
I like how Drunk History works like old school animation... the actors try to mimic the narrators.
Probably watched this like 10 times over the last few months..........it's still HILARIOUS !!
Lol this might be my new favorite episode of the drunk history series
They have just gotten worse now, they aren't even really drunk anymore
Lol same here all of Duncan's are funny watch the dolphin one if you haven't already
This is the episode that made it popular enough to get big.
Hands down the best Drunk History episode.
It's even weirder that he sounds like Crispen Glover
I'm at the beginning of the episode and I'm so pumped to watch the rest that I had to scroll down and leave a comment.
I was watching another episode before this, and I was actually thinking "imagine if they got Duncan Trussel to be the drunk guy.... nah, they wouldn't do that his voice is too weird" and then I saw a comment that said that the Tesla episode is good so I clicked on it.
Far and away the best Drunk History.
They usually don’t get this drunk. 😄
One of the best drunk history episodes ever! Why they don't use Duncan more often is beyond me. Electric Jesus!
At first I thought this was a parody of Drunk History. Never realized it started on this channel!
Drunk History in my opinion is the best thing that Funny or Die has ever brought to the "silver screen" (even if that means the computer monitor).
Now, I think this may be my favorite episode of all the Drunk History creations.
I think Derek Waters is the electric Jesus…
"Tesla was the electric Jesus." - Best quote ever.
The best drunk history episode. Made me love this inventor
On another note, pigeons are actually highly intelligent and highly sociable animals, so it stands to reason he would prefer them over humans.
Duncan Trussell is the fucking man. "this is hell, I'm talking about Tesla in my puke."
+- Astrvl Best JRE guest ever, every time. :)
This is the best and most accurate historical reenactment Hollywood has ever managed to produce.
"like I KNOW I chewed it" lol
Best line
Have you noticed in history how many great inventors never got to enjoy their inventions because they spend the rest of their lives fighting to defend their inventions. The Wrights had to fight Curtis into the 40s about the first manned powered flight.
"how did this come out of my body... there are pieces.. pineapple pieces.. i know i chewed it!"
Still one of the best episodes of Drunk History.
Crispin Glover and John C. Reilly should’ve switched roles. They look so much more like the other person.
I almost feel like that might have been intentional for the humor of it haha.
That’s what makes it so funny imo
hahah Mark Twain's eyebrows tho!!!
Classic drunk... Hovered over the toilet but pukes beside of it.
He puked into the 2nd phantom one he saw, he was on target it was just the wrong target.
classic drunk... hovered over the toilet and talking about Tesla
I wish I can retain that much information and "regurgitate" it upon my inebriated state and be entertaining at the same time...I can't breathe..
Crispin Glover should have played Tesla
my thoughts exactly as well
yeah, tesla was historically hotter, what an injustice.
While I get where youre coming from, looks and all, I have to disagree. I cant imagine anyone else being more funny as Edison after seeing Crispin Gliver do it. That shot of him electrocuting animals as Duncans saying "Edison, was an asshole." LMAO
Because of the sharper facial features?
nnnnnnnNO......
Edison & Tesla were miscast, The actors should've been switched.
sine moderamine Maybe.
Kidding me!? Glover plays a psycho edison perfectly! John’s portrayal of Tesla was epic! This is the episode that started this entire idea rolling.
I thought the exact same as soon as I saw Glover
That's what makes it so funny :)
Agreed. I wish there was more scenes with Crispin
I've only listened to the audio from this on JRE. This was the first time ever watching Drunken History. Well... I'm hooked.
So good.
The best Drunk History episode, no contest.
The drunk narrator.
Omg 😂
John C. Reilly's wig.
I can't.
Crispin Glover should've played Tesla.
"Tesla was the Electric Jesus. I can't breathe." I'm dead.
Tesla is a god! Hilarious Drunk telling of his 'history'. lol
"Tesla was the electric Jesus." - I think I need to add this to my signatures from now on! LMAO

All these years and this remains the best episode
CRISPIN GLOVER IS THE MAN!!!
This is my favorite one. I love how the pigeon's eyes gave off light so beauteous that he knew he'd never be able to invent something so amazing. Much laughter escaped my mouth.
This is still my favorite one.
Powerful Duncan Trussell
druncan trussel
"He knew he would never invent anything worthy of a pigeon."
Crispin Glover is fucking awesome for this. LOVE IT!
Glover's facial expressions had me laughing good boys
Man is such an underrated actor, one of the best. And to think that the producers of Charlie's Angels wanted him to be a speaking character but he stuck to his guns and delivered such a perfect performance.
This is truly hilarious and awesome. I was buying every moment of this and really having a good laugh. Well done, gentlemen!
"he discussed an historical event.." 😂
Glad I'm not the only one who caught that. XD
" & mark twain was there crying"
LOL
I never knew what i was put on this earth for, but after countless viewings of Americans getting drunk on cans half the size of ours, and never finishing a bottle, i as a 6'5" Irishman shall drink every American man, woman and child under the table. Especially you, 13y old Billy from Wisconsin!
Cool story bro! Not all Americans are lightweights
Their beer is watered down. Come up to Canada and you'll find an even match.
Ian Roantree Do you also drink 350ml cans that are less than 5-6%?
***** That's the average American beer, 5% or less and 350ml soda cans. Try a box of 24 cans double the size of ours as predrinks.
Fresh Warrior, your Mom must be so proud! :) I love the Irish, no, really!
The part when Tesla is slaming the table, I thought the dramatizations were silent silent , the sound was actually the guy puking,ha ha.
I don't drink to extremes anymore, but back when I did, and would occasionally throw up, I would always say to myself "I know I chewed it". The brief moment of levity would make things a tiny bit better.
It's 2019 and this is still the best one
yes. duncan trussell is amazing.
2024 same
omg! Tesla was electric Jesus! I can't breathe hahahahahahah 😂😂
Tesla was the electric Jesus.
This is one of the best Drunk History episodes
TESLA, the biggest phenomena yet. A inventor who almost got forgotten from the pages of history, because he cared more for the purpose of invention then the invention it self or the profit it. Even though I wasn't laughing and got really sad while watching it, I loved it. Real artistic work. THERE IS A SLIM LINE THAT MOVES BETWEEN COMEDY AND TRAGEDY!!! Good work, thanks!!!:-)
i was that pigeon
no you weren't gears, in my past lives I was that pigeon.
"I can't breathe..." AND CUT! WE'RE OUTTA HERE!
Whoa, Crispin Glover? Never clicked on anything faster in my life.
From a, purely admiring- platonic- standpoint, I mean.
Yeah
Jesus Christ, as long as i've been alive, this is one of the funniest things I've ever seen. Holy shit you guys, this is brilliant from start to finish.
cannot believe I have to watch this for my digital editing class this year, I remember watching this when it came out
Am I the only one that thinks the actors for Edison & Tesla shoulda switched...?
YES!!
I mean, "no", you are not the only one .
Too right!
It would have been much better
No there's a bunch of us who thinks the roles should be reversed. 😂
For your health
I need to party with this dude.
Came here just for "This is a nightmare. I'm in hell. This is hell. I'm talking about Tesla in my puke."
“I know I chewed it!..”. Hahahahaha kills me every time
ABSINTHE?!?!? how is he still coherent ...or alive?!?!!?!?
Haha. Destroying your liver and brain is hilarious.
Obviously not from Wisconsin^
What about Wisconsin?
FragmentalStew
Or Michigan
Fun, too!
Yeah this guy is obviously not from Wisconsin judging by the trajectory of the moon and the sun.
"On January 7th, Dave Grohl drank a six pack of beer and inhaled helium."
This is the all time greatest Drunk History. Duncan’s so young here but on fire 🔥
This is a great short video summarizing tesla's life. Very humorous.
God, I love Duncan trussell
drunk history , where have u been all my life ?
this is fucking beautiful
4:10 Nikola Tesla about to cry his heart out to Duncan puking his supper out.
I think this has always been my favorite own
Actors should have switched roles.
+Jack Borden
Glover looks almost exactly like Edison.
Yeah, Tesla was never fat and Edison was
