    Nice video. I want to remind to be careful with the fillning cap on the valvecover. Place it in a clean environment during the tap and filling up process to reduce the risk of dust or dirt entering inside the engine.

    Thank you for this! I have a Kia Rio 2016 with 5W 30 full synthetic oil. Can I still use the same filter that’s the preferred in the description?

      Yes, you should keep the oil level between the L and F on the oil dip stick to avoid engine damage.

    I’m a new driver(I have a 2014 Kia Rio) so forgive me if this is common knowledge, but if your car is burning oil how do you stop it and why does it happen?

      Kia uses low tension rings for the engine cylinders which lead to higher oil consumption. this was used to help increase fuel mileage, but then burns off more oil in the engine so check your oil every 1000 miles. You can also have an oil consumption test and if it is ~1 L per thousand miles kia has been replacing engines for free (still have to pay for the oil change). Also if your PCV valve is stuck open it will burn even more oil so check or replace the PCV valve here is a link to the video: th-cam.com/video/LRzw2qdnh0E/w-d-xo.html

      Yes, Always have oil in the filter to eliminate damage to the bearings. It takes a bit for the oil filter to soak up oil. Prefill and eliminate dty damagrd bearings. An engine rebuild us not Cheap

    I think my Kia rio is leaking oil any ideas where it’s coming from ?

    • @MountainManMo
      @MountainManMo  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      if you do not see drops on the drive way then it is most likely burning / consuming oil which is typical of engines with low tension piston rings. I would suggest checking your oil level every 500 miles to make sure the level does not go too low. Changing the PCV valve can help if it is stuck closed as the PCV valve can cause high oil pressure and force oil to leak. A PCV valve stuck open will vent oil to the engine and burn it. Both conditions will consume oil. Worn piston rings are another main cause but can be a bit more complicated to replace. A PCV valve is easy to change and cheap see video: th-cam.com/video/LRzw2qdnh0E/w-d-xo.html good luck. Also if you are burning 1+ qt per 1000 miles you can have the dealership do an oil consumption test and if it is that high they sometimes replace the engine for free.

    Wrench sizes would be helpfull

  • @gillesturcotte5661

    Stick a nail through the filter to get leverage ... but just don't put it so tight.
    Dirty oil makes engine burning it ( piston's oil ring gets clogged )

    • @MountainManMo
      @MountainManMo  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The dealership changed it up until this time. I was amazed that the dealership did not mention the burning oil to me. I realized this when I started changing the oil myself. Now I know why they said do not let it go 3,000 miles between oil changes these engines burn oil like crazy.

      @@MountainManMo . My daughter has a 2014 Rio with 300k km (190k miles) that burns after 3k miles.
      Probably oil ring gets clogged when oil is dirty.
      Oil still can lubricate , but must be changed.
