Wave 1 complains: -U say Ninja Hideaway sucks = Skill issue (its better than some nitros, many retros and some dlc tracks, definitely top 48 at least) -And Sky Garden sucks, it doesn't have the magic it had in previous games - Both Choco Mountain and Paris are so boring, but I do like Choco Mountain (screw Paris, third worst city track on the DLC)
Wave 4 complains: - There's no complain here, best wave of the DLC (but not gonna lie, it was carried so hard by Waluigi Stadium and Yoshi's Island (not including DKS because it isnt as fun/challenging as on Wii)) - The only real complain: Bangkok Rush should be a bit higher, because its a phenomenal city track (definitely better than DS Mario Circuit or Riverside Park)
Wave 5 complains: - As much as I love Shy Guys, Sunset Wilds doest deserve more than a 4 out of 10. They just got rid of the main gimmick (the sun setting each lap) and its even more unpleasant to drive than Bone-Dry Dunes or Snow Land - Koopa Cape might be a 10 on Wii, but not in 8 Deluxe. It doesnt feel the same by any meanings: it looks as bland as Rock Rock Mountain visually, the lasers weren't introduced back... Still good, but not a 10 - LA Laps should be where Sunset Wilds is, because it doesnt have anything that makes it different than other cities (unlike Athens Dash, for example) + some parts (specially the beach and the petrol station areas) have the same issue as Sunset Wilds - Athens Dash should be a bit higher (bathroom level) because its the most unique city track on the DLC, focusing more on the things that mostly describe Greece - Daisy Cruiser should also be a bit higher (Moonview level), cause its a short yet fast-paced and challenging track; alongside an absolute joy to drive on
Hi, Ninja Hideaway is not the worst course in this Wave, Toad Circuit, Tokyo Blur and Sky Garden exist. Sky High Sundae is AN OVAL! it doesn't even make sense like Excitebike, since there, the game it comes from has no turns. The beginning shortcut on Mushroom Gorge was in Wii/removed in 7 because of an ultra shortcut. Also, Nintendo has never and will never use Smash music in Mario Kart. London Loop is not that bad. Moonview Highway is not that good. Rock Rock Mountain is not that good
Wave 2 complains: - Sky-High Sundae is just an extended Baby Park (aka a fkin oval) and u say its on the same level as Mushroom Gorge? Such a bad joke... - New York is like the Tokyo Blur of Wave 2, a track that is uninteresting and plays like ass. Should be near the level of Mario Circuit 3 - Waluigi Pinball, despite not having any new music (I mean, it has a retro with the same theme, it was kinda doomed on music department), still should be higher than Snow Land because its more enjoyable to drive and has more action (I do like bagging in Snow Land, but its as unpleasant to drive on as Bone-Dry Dunes) + the antigravity cant be possible because the pinballs would be falling (its Mario Kart, but still has to have a bit of logic :p)
I don't expect all of my takes to be the common consensus, after all the point of opinions is that they'll differ between people. Glad you enjoyed the video though!
I personally was EXTREMELY disappointed with moonview highway. I won't give it anything higher than a 5/10 because of how badly they nerfed it. Now that I'm thinking about it, I feel that way about every single wii retro in the game, not just the dlc, except for maybe maple treeway. The one saving grace for moonview is that they kept the bob-omb cars. If those were gone it'd be no higher than a 1/10. Also, as someone who enjoys mariokart custom tracks, ninja hideaway is a great course. It's an official nintendo course that plays exactly like a CT and you have no idea how long I had been waiting for something like that to exist.
Gonna say it, wave 4 is extremely overrated. Not saying its bad, but waves 5 and 6 and imo even 2 beat it out. 2 of wave 4's city tracks are disappointing, 1 is just good, and while the retros are amazing they're not the best we've seen. Oh and Birdo is a fine character nothing special.
Wave 3 complains: - Merry Mountain isnt as good as u say, its just straight a Sky-High Sundae layout that has been bashed on one side and just unfun to drive on - Rock Rock Mountain is a pile of garbage fused with sewer water. It looks like Toad Circuit, its unfun to play and doesnt have anything interesting. Its "fake Ninja Hideaway" level (aka ur Ninja Hideaway perception (srry, its just that it doesnt make sense)) - Ah, yeah, and screw London Poop. Second worst city track in the DLC
When it comes to PvP games buying the DLC needs to be done early or midway through. If you haven't bought it by now you're probably not going to benefit from getting it now. Issues that crop up like map bloat makes it hard to play the maps you like and more so if they aren't popular while you likely use the same kart and character as before. All with the catch a new console could be announced this year, one that is likely to have a new Mario Kart with new stats and new maps. You might be better off treating yourself and someone else to a nice dinner or watch a movie or two. As time passes the value of this pack only drops down more and more.
Wave 6 complains: - As much as I despise DK Mountain (same applies to DK Summit), having it at the same level as boring aaaah Daisy Circuit isnt right. Its still so fun and challenging to drive that it deserves Rome level - Daisy Circuit might be gorgeous and everything, but it has to be a bit lower (reasons: bumped out Dry Dry Ruins + boring aaaah track + it makes me remember Sunset Wilds main issue + etc reasons) - Piranha Plant Cove should be on BC3 level, its so fun, so amazing visually and an absolute joy to drive on. Also one of the tracks with the most amount of tecnicque required due to being mainly underwater. An absolute masterpiece
