Pat Kane and I discuss all things Hue & Cry including his take on fame, the music industry, behavioral patterns and whether having chart success is more important then selling out gigs and concerts.
I remember Stars Crashing Down. I was in the crowd at Wembley when they opened for Madonna in 1987, I bought all three albums and I saw them at the Albert Hall on the S.C.D. tour. My first ever Abert Hall gig and its a place I've come to adore, so H&C have been an important fulcrum in my musical life. Big thanks to Pat and Greg for that.
Fascinating. I got off the Biz merry go round at a much earlier point and many years earlier but I followed this story. Pat is honest and articulate and might I add a very talented guy. I would absolutely include the bro. Thank you.
Took our daughter aged 8 at the time to see her favourite band Hue and Cry in Glasgow. We sat beside the music journalist Billy Sloan by accident thanks to a benevolent worker at the SSEC. Loved every minute of the concert and will remember it forever as will our daughter Sara.👵🏼xx
I read Billy Sloan's book recently. It was a good book. He said Simple Minds were incredibly hospitable to people in the local area when they recorded an album in Scotland in the eighties, inviting locals to a party thrown to thank them for having them in the area. Class act.
Wonderful interview. So candid and self-depreciating. Highly intrigued by the news of an Electronic Dance Music record in the works. I've always appreciated the EDM remix of "Sweet Invisibility" that was released as a single (and prefer it to the original album version).
Good interview by the way - Jame Grant of Love & Money would probably be a good one to interview or even better, if you can talk him into it, Steven Lindsey of The Big Dish (now Interlopers)...
Criminally underrated songwriter ..one of the very best
Can't believe Labour Of Love never hit the number 1 slot! Classic never tires.❤

Yet another great interview. The key is your excellent questions. The list of musicians you could interview is endless. Brilliant!
Thanks as always Joe, I have plenty more lined up.
Jazz not jazz is also a fantastic work of art
Agreed and next move from the old stuff!!!
Great interview, interesting to hear Pat speak with such candour about how things went awry in the early 90's and how he has evolved.
Cheers 🙂
Art & commerce. Nice point
