I shot the 33 yesterday. It was new, but old stock at the dealer. My judgement was this: First of all, the draw cycle was butter smooth. In fact, it was as nice as any hunting bow I've ever shot. The bow balanced beautifully and although the IBO speed rating was about 322 to 323, it seemed much faster. Very understated. Let down with the bow was very nice and easy. There was no vibration and the bow was absolutely dead in hand. I was very impressed
Nice review and good looking bow. Mass Weight moves them into the Mathews flagships' weight class. That is what comes with longer risers to reduce shock and vibration. I remember when the HTR NoCam was criticized for too much weight at 4.1 lbs.
The EVO NXT 35 comes in 2 versions with 2 different cams (SE and EC; the EC is called LD and has longer fistmelle and draw length, and also can be ordered in #80).
I have an Evolve 31 and an Evoke 31. Difference from Evolve to Evoke, bigger axle, 1/4," stabilizer mount low rear, cage riser, shorter brace height. Evolve 6 1/4" to Evoke 5 7/8" faster...………..Evo NXT, same 1/4" axle, slower, smoother, quieter, less hand shock because of more parallel limbs longer riser. same weight as the other two, went back to no bridge, like Evolve, went back to solid roller guide bar, pre Evolve. Went back to taller brace height 6 1/2". Never understood the hand shock thing, not like it's jumping out of your hand. Noise, a deer can hear any bow going off, no matter how quiet. Best PSE for 2019 was the Evoke LT, came out in the spring, no advertising and it's gone. Best of all of them and a lot lighter.
I've had my NXT 31" for about two weeks now and I love it. Only negative is I wanted the 35" (for stability) but the weight of the 31" seemed heavy enough for me, so no 33" or 35". Now getting used to the weight. Shooting 60/70#'s. Seems like a quiet, silk smooth sniper rocket compared to my old bow. Even with the 31" my 35 yard groupings are about the same as my old bows 20 yard grouping. I will "NEVER" sell this bow!
So they advanced their line back to the bows they made 10 years ago? I don't see these taking the market by storm. I think I'll wait to see what Bowtech comes out with for 2020.
@@mikekupetsky6879 Evoke have dropped off the website. I like PSE but the 2020 offerings are really disappointing. I'm not sure if I should jump in and get an Evoke or wait and see. I like the Bowtech Reakoning but in Australia they are way to expensive.
The main reason to remove the cages is to reduce manufacturiring costs; not a bad decision due they increased the total mass and the stifness, but at the cost of being more similar in weight with Mathews and also being a bit slower (albeit aiming to get a more smooth draw cycle). Again nothing bad, but their choices are in line to get more profit x bow sale and didn't make that much improvements this time. The #80 Evoke sure will be missed...
If it IBO's at 320 @ 30" and you are a 32" draw, then you will pick up roughly 10 fps with every inch above 30". So, you should be able to get 340. Or, were you trying to get 360 out of the bow?
Just picked up one in Colorado. Great videos thanks fir your time. Best Arrow rest fir it? Old school like 6 arrow but 5 ok as well Have tbe kulu Verda color.
I think most people think the word ' Innovation ' means invention and as a result the majority use it out of context or incorrectly. Ditto the word ' Torque '.
I tried it and let me tell you the draw is so smooth and it is dead in the hand in release. Feels 10#'s lighter than it is set. I bought it and will keep this bow for life.
Not sure why these are so unpopular. From the reviews I've seen these are very efficient cams. So your real world speeds are quite competitive to Matthew's and bowtech. I think with the lower layoff % mods they're supposed to ibo at like 340. I started on a budget and have been hunting with a PSE stinger that IBO's at like 315 or something like that. With the draw length maxed to 30" and adjusting my release to compensate for my 31" draw and pulling 70 lbs shooting 409gr arrows I've passed through ever 4 legged critter I've shot. This new PSE is plenty fast. It's also compact and as I'm looking to upgrade to a flagship it caught my attention. Still leaning a Matthew's traverse or bowtech realm as with the traverse having my current favor after shooting both. I will say if the other companies release bows that are legitimate steps forward this will be a dud I'm sure. But real world results to me show this is still competitive. TH-cam only tells you so much and it's still new. I thought the last generation of PSE bows were underwhelming.
I suspect they are just as fast as other bows that list their speeds at 340 plus. PSE seems to be more honest than some of the other manufacturers out there. And that's probably true more so for short draw archers
Last year's the cages in riser were innovation to prevent hand shock and rigidity, this year going back to older style straight riser is innovation. Hmm
I own a Pse decree dream season ic best pse to date 355 fps 75 let off. 3.3 lbs. 6" brace Back when they competed with the rpm 360. That time speed was the thing with a nice letoff. I wanna see 355 fps with 90 letoff a a 6.25 brace height.
The amount of hand shock and lunge that bow has when he was talking about the grip is just ridiculous! It almost flew out of his hand if he didn't grab ahold of it... PSE Parts Scattered Everywhere. I've owned 2 of them and both blew up. The first one was the dream season and it blew up on the bowtech that was setting it up for me at a pro shop.
I agree. I wanted the 35 with the se cam because my DL is just 26"ish, for target/3D shooting. After trying the 31 I knew there was no way I could do the 35. I bought the 31(stimulus check) and now I am used the weight. I have extended the hunting stabilizer and added a v-bar adding a bracket to the rear machining holes on the riser. Shoots very well now like a small target bow with camo Lol.
I just got an NTN last Saturday. Wanted the VXR, shot both and forgot about the Mathews. It shoots my 600 grain arrows at 260 fps. Thats 90 ft lbs of ke, and momentum is right at 0.7. Awesome, smooth and quiet. And it looks real nice as well. Definitely a shooter.
I called in 1-29-20 and they have none in stock... they said 4 weeks to order one.... pretty said on Lancasters part not to have any in stock.... I’ll go somewhere else...
Mathews Vertix 30" ATA is heavier, 4.67 lbs. Hoyt lists RX3 30.5" at 3.9 but on scale is same as EVO NXT 31. Prime Logic 31" ATA is same as EVO 31 at 4.3lbs.
Xpedite > Evoke > Evolve > EVO... WTF PSE???!!?! You just don't care anymore? The riser looks like a Prime knockoff (very plain) and it's slower than any flagship you've released in years, and they're some of the heaviest new bows on top of it...
These will be good target bows. But they will be too slow to hunt with for most people. An IBO of 320 will translate into 250fps or slower for most people with a responsibly weighed hunting arrow.
What's a responsibly weighted hunting arrow? My hunting arrows are 380 gr, my bow shoots 280 fps with a IBO of 323, killed many deer with this set up. Not mention the bow I had before this had super light/thin beman carbon arrows with an older darton that probably shot around 240ish, killed a lot of deer with that bow to.
Brandon P Most bowhunters will shoot arrows in the 400-500 grain range. People shooting less than 400 or more than 500 is on the end of the bell curve. Just because you made the decision to shoot deer with light arrows doesn't mean that most will. If that works for you that's great. A fast bow gives you more flexibility. You can slow it down by increasing arrow weight or draw weight, you can make it dead in the hand and quiet by shooting heavier arrows. A slow bow only does one thing, shoot slow light arrows, which sounds right down your alley bud
@@chrisk316 Just making a point that what you consider "responsible" and "to slow to hunt with" is all relative. Deer hunting you don't need a speed bow and 500 gr arrows for 20-30 yard shots. I grew up in the day when bows were lucky to hit 290 IBO. I killed a ton of deer with "slow" light arrows. I think now people like yourself have been spoiled by these fast bows that have IBO's of 340 and higher. Fast bows kill with the right shooter but so do average speed bows. I remember watching a video of Ted Nugent killing deer after deer with a 50 pound "slow" bow, he was dropping them like flies.
Chris K I would definitely say hunt with what makes U feel comfortable and confident, but not to criticize, but if U watch the last two videos from The Hunting Public, both of the bucks that were just killed were killed with Bear Species bows at 60 pounds. Even at 70 pounds, those bows only produce speeds of 320 IBO so technically those Bear bows were considerably slower than these bows at 65 or 70 pounds and were easily able to put down those bucks!
I don't hunt with heavy arrows. A lot of people shooting in the 600-700 grain range, but I think speed becomes too slow at that point, and it limits your range. My setup is 490 grain, 16%FOC at 285 fps. Arrow carries well enough for an ethical shot up to 100 yards. I feel my setup is middle of the road. My bow is 325IBO but have a 32"DL and 70#. I was hoping PSE would put out a 340iBO bow, that would let me bump my arrows to 515grains @285fps. Increased momentum and penetration, less noise at the string, and full passthroughs with big fixed blades. There are no disadvantages to this setup
@Jason Creech not really darton archery invented and have patents on tons of this that mathews Hoyt and pse use. Split limbs darton the equal pull on the cams darton. Darton has been around for over 50 years
Jason Creech I dont see why the evolve cam is a game changer,it is advertised as much as Mathews and hoyt cams.In my opinion,Mathews and bowtech are two leading companies for their overall performance, quiteness, adjustability and speed. That's like saying a Chevy is better than a Ford. At the end of the day both trucks will get you back home from work. They all make good bows, and way better than what we had even 15 years ago. Shoot what makes YOU happy.
Jason Creech the Matthews VXR and the Bowtech RevoltX are miles better than the PSE’s this year. The VXR might be the best bow I’ve ever shot and I shoot all the flagships. The RevoltX was second, Hoyt still makes great stuff but the RX4 was not really different then the RX3.
