I am disappointed, the very dramatic performance of Dan Castellaneta as Homer in this was butchered in the final. The way he says, "Homer driver big bump 3!" brought tears to my eyes in how amazingly real it was.
Interesting stuff here. The placeholder dialogue is pretty funny and I wish they didn't change the loading screen since it looks more entertaining then the final loading screen
... Very interesting actually. I've only played the Gamecube version of the game myself but literally everything in this looks different, save for the menu layout. For the record, those lines while Homer is driving sound like placeholders to indicate where the eventual voicelines would play and in what situation, like in Crash Team Racing where Penta Penguin had "penguin yay 1/2" as lines while driving. Seems like the actors hadn't recorded their lines yet and Radical used clips from actual episodes at this stage in development.
Just scoured through the GameCube version of Road Rage's files - while there are sadly no "Homer drive big bump" audio files, there ARE a few of these placeholders which still exist on the disc!
VERY Interesting. This seems to be a prototype well before they got the cast on board to record lines, or at least 95 percent of the lines weren't implemented yet. Do you have any intentions of dumping the ISO for this prototype in the future? There could be some unused dialog in here (other than the hilarious placeholder samples) that would be very interesting to have.
Daluigi208 It's currently backed up and in my collection. It's something I've considered, but it isn't a top priority, especially since there are so few alpha kits out there (and custom built ones still lack a sound board). Obviously the sounds could be accessed without, but it just isn't a priority right now compared to other games. And it wouldn't be an iso, it was pulled from a hard drive ;)
ptoponline Interesting. Thank you for the quick and kind reply! I understand the priorities you have, and you deserve some praise from the amount of stuff you're showcasing that other people purposefully wouldn't share. Your Bad Fur Day ECTS build discovery was interesting, and actually helped me identify a track found in a USF dump that went unused in the final game. Thank you so much for that, since the Experimenting cutscene was fascinating and I never wouldn't know the purpose of the track in question without that video! If there's ever an opportunity in the future, I'd love to see the files for this game dumped. Specifically, I'm mostly curious about the dialog archive from this prototype and the E3 demo (the final game stores all of the dialog in a file called ENGLISH.RCF, and I assume the prototype has a similar structure). These sounds alone would actually help me greatly in a personal project, especially if there's any leftover dialog for when Skinner, Moleman, and Jasper were planned playable characters. That being said, keep up the excellent work.
ptoponline Call me dumb, but I know EXACTLY what you're talking about and can't seem to find any information on it online anymore. Only this build. If I recall correctly, didn't you upload some more footage of a later build that was shown off at E3 (this one being a bit closer to complete and had a small introduction with Burns taunting the player before the game started)? I can no longer seem to find that footage anywhere online. I did seem to find a link that claims to be a download to the dialog from the E3 build you're talking about, but now I'm puzzled about where the information from the later build I'm talking about has gone. I can't seem to find that information on your website and I can't seem to find any uploads of the later E3 prototype. Was it taken down over copyright concerns? If necessary, I can reply by sending you a personal message there if you would rather discuss it that way.
Hmm Im not sure what happened to it hah, I thought it was on this account. Maybe it was uploaded under the old one. Ill make some new video in the coming week or two :)
That title screen looks different. Was this a build BEFORE E3 or after? The reason I asked is because Cutting Room Floor has icons for Principal Skinner, Jasper and Moleman listed in their article.
I think in the way the levels are connected and the way the textures are yeah. I like this build and the really bright textures of the other build over the finals. The final game looks much more depressing.

I realize it's kind of randomly asking but does anyone know a good website to watch new movies online?
@Eli Sage Flixportal
@Bradley Eddie thanks, I signed up and it seems like a nice service =) Appreciate it!!
@Eli Sage no problem =)
Those Steven Hawking placeholder sound effects XD
20 years later and I'm blown away by this build. So bizarre to know how much would be changed in the span of a few months.
Homer drive big bump 1
Homer drive big bump 3
Bart passenger big bump 2
Interesting stuff here.
The placeholder dialogue is pretty funny and I wish they didn't change the loading screen since it looks more entertaining then the final loading screen
Oh man, this takes me back.
Never thought you could go around finding Alphas, Betas and Prototypes of random games.
You are a LIAR good sir, you have no MEMORIEEEESSSSS
Wish I could travel back in time. I know, I could just replay the game, but it felt so different in the past. Miss those times

Yep, that's exactly what it is. Be sure to check out the e3 build, it has some different stuff.
Wow, after 12 years finding out about the alpha.
Just scoured through the GameCube version of Road Rage's files - while there are sadly no "Homer drive big bump" audio files, there ARE a few of these placeholders which still exist on the disc!
Ah yes, homer's most famous line, HOMER_DRIVER_START_OF_GAME_2
Ah yes the homerdriverman
Is there anyway I can acquire the "Homer driver _____" place holder dialogue? I really want it.
go find a text to speech and remake it
@@Gold_Yoshi I don't know of a TTS that sounds anything like this one.
The robotic voice makes this kinda hilarious tbh
HOMER DRIVER... BIG BUMP 3
Gamez Geek the "talking dolly's" don't record themselves!
this is so fucking funny hearing a tts voice of homer
homer driver big bump 3
Is it just me, or after a while does it sound like Microsoft Sam is constantly praising Homer?
0:09 im missing the chili cookoff XD i died laughing

The e3 build can already be found online, so go find that :) That should be a great help!

To be honest I haven't checked yet. Normal XBE tools don't cooperate on alpha builds really.
E3 version and Alpha Build is much better them the final version of The Simpsons Road Rage.
I think in the way the levels are connected and the way the textures are yeah. I like this build and the really bright textures of the other build over the finals. The final game looks much more depressing.
Wow... just wow...
Thanks for sharing. :)
It seems the initial plan on Road Rage is a Crazy Taxi ripoff rather than a GTA ripoff then. :P
How did you manage to get a hold of this?
@PtoPOnline Do Arctic Thunder | Xbox Alpha Build video.
Send it to me :P
I wonder who the other 4 characters were after professor frank?
3:28 Smithers is black like in the first couple of episodes
*DPERSONALIZED PREDICTABLE COMMENT 1*
Homer Drive Big bump 2
lol, what is that text to speech stuff saying? is it placeholder for voice work or what? can't make out what it's saying besides "homer ......"
Yeah, has to do with Homers voice lines.
It's saying "Homer driver big bump 2." "Homer driver big crash 3." You should get the idea.
I think Entertainment District is a better name than just Moe's
this game is so funny with the xbox for reason of sunday drive
This version looks better
Please do ps2 build
Would need to find one.
Is this build before or after the E3 one?
Probably before or right around the same time.
Possibly slightly after I guess too. But alpha kits were only officially supported through May 2001 so it's not likely to be far off.
@@PtoPOnline all right thanks
