    Exceptional Channel. I have listened to some of the devices described on the channel and I can say for sure that the description of their sound completely coincides with my own impressions. The terminology to describe the sound is the best I've ever seen in reviews. It makes me feel confident that I have a rough idea of what devices sound like that I have not yet listened to with my own ears. Thank you!

    It's excellent that Srboljub (will I ever remember how to spell his name?) talks about system matching as that is often overlooked. I's great that a device like the Eversolo scales well as you improve the quality of your system and I'm very happy that I bought one.

    Good insight as alway. Thanks for the clarification about needing a much better system to hear the differences between DACs. Too many people say they hear ‘night and day’ differences with relatively budget associated equipment. In this instance I think I’ll stick with my Mojo 2 and Wiim Pro. I don’t need a screen.

    • @rosswarren436
      @rosswarren436 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, differences should not be "night and day" for most price competitive DACs. And to really split hairs in those tonal differences it is best to use a headphone stack, not speakers.
      But many swear that (using speakers) DACs based on an R2R architecture can offer a "better natural tonality, soundstage and imaging" compared to chip based DACs. I've never tried an R2R DAC, but I sure would like to, just to see if I can tell a difference and whether buying a R2R DAC would be worth it. My budget for a DAC tops out around $1000 but I know those "better reviewed R2R DACs" go for around $1500 to $1600.
      To those with systems and ears that can hear the difference say a Denafrips Pontius or Holo May gives, well, more power to them.

    If you had a SOtM sMS-200Ultra and the mini-i4 and say the Gustard X18 DAC. What would you use. the Gustard/SOtM or the Matrix (feeding the Gustard H16 headphone amp) I can get the Mini 4 for less than the X18 DAC (as I already the SOtM and could selling it though) Only used in a head-fi setup though

    I have a doubt @iiWiReviews, it hasn't digital outputs, but,..
    Is not possible to use the HDMI ARC as digital output connecting to an amp with HDMI input?, and in case it hasn't to use a HDMI audio extractor.
    In the other side, you know many people don't like the word "musical" referred to audio equipment. In any case each time someone use it, my brain translate it to "natural"

    I am hoping to find a stand alone streamer - kind of opposite to this unit. I have an amazing DAC - Geshelli Labs J2S with the new AKM 4499EX chipset. I have the stunning Sparkos SS2590 dual mono unit in the single ended output socket and a 50W linear power supply.
    I am currently using a Node 2i as a streamer only, and it also has a 50W LPS. So, I am looking forward to the Volumio streamer review.

      Glad to see you're also looking for a better streamer. This one caught my eye too until I heard it didn't have a digital out.

      @@Artemis_Prix Several of CAM's patrons have Pine Tree Audio linear power supplies, and they are excellent. I will be getting one to bring with me to Capital Audiofest. A dual voltage - 12V 50W and a 5V 50W (for my Node 2i) is what I have now; brand name is Sigma 11, made in China. It was about $220, and I think the Pine Tree units are about 50% more? Given its small form factor, I can understand the need to not offer any digital output jacks, but for many, the lack of such outputs will be a deal breaker. Terminology questions: In the audiophile world, what is a “bridge”? What is a “renderer”?

    • @iiWiReviews
      @iiWiReviews  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Audio renderer or bridge are basically the same - devices that accept packages of data from the external server and player. They assemble that data into an digital audio signal with timing info, and send it to the DAC for further conversion. But the starting point - server and player - are not a part of that device itself.
      A streamer, or a network player, is a device that is able to act as a server and player, as well as renderer. So it can access storage and play files or audio streams without any external player's help and control.
      Things are often overlapping too. Many devices can act as fully independent streamers/network players or renderers/bridges when used in that mode (Roon, UPnP, etc.).

Maybe they figure with the small form factor they are targeting these "mini" devices mainly to be used on desktop systems where a single box is desired, not in full-blown stereo set ups like for a living room, although many of us would be tempted to use one (and be happy to get a good streamer for under $700).

    There are two significant factors that really should be taken into account: 1) personal preference; and 2) system synergy.
    Another well known TH-cam reviewer compared the Matrix Mini I4 Pro (same sq as I4) directly with Eversolo and on his system he found Matrix to have better soundstage and imaging. It's worth noting that his system is significantly better than the one used in this review. For example Kef Reference series floorstandees vs L50 used here.

    • @iiWiReviews
      @iiWiReviews  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree on both personal preference and system synergy. Just wanted to clarify one thing - LS50s are only helping speakers for over a year now. I keep them as a well known reference and when I need to use reasonably priced speakers. My main speakers are much better Spirit Winds by Jeff Bagby that done right can easily match commercial brand speakers up to 10K. I should make a video about the current state of my setup I suppose (preamp is also new and fantastic, amplification is dual mono, etc.).
      Once again, just wanted to mention this about my own setup and not to negate the experience of anyone else. BTW, I belive we're talking about the Sandu in this case. Best to him, and you too! 🍻
