Black Sabbath were a socially conscious band while the lunatic fringe were calling them Satan worshipers.
Their music was so heavy and shocking that a lot of people just ignored the lyrics.

Deep purple was the first heavy metal band my friend. I saw them in 1967, three years before sabbath. But metal took all its roots from the greatest guitar player in history- jimi hendrix. I saw hendrix on 1969 and when sabbath came out we all thought they were just hendrix wannabes. Hendrix is the true originator of metal.

    • @abidababida7096

@@gordkolle-bl1ci i don’t agree with Deep Purple cause they weren’t that heavy in their beginnings but i will absolutely agree with you about Jimi Hendrix. He was the greatest guitarist ever and he was pretty dam heavy, but i think Sabbath really kicked it all off. Nobody had Tony’s low heavy sound that made u wanna tear shit up when u heard it before him.

      You're only scratching the surface.
They had tons of songs & if there was never no Black Sabbath. There would've never been no Ozzy Osbourne!
The guitar player Toni Iommi is who all metal guitar players looked up to & wanted to play like.
Everyone from Dave Mustaine of MegADetH, James Hetfield & Kirk Hammett of MetallicA, Dimebag Darrell of PanterA & many other metal guitarists.
Tony Iommi & Black Sabbath created Heavy Metal.

fan made vid still relevant though, Fairies wear boots, The Wizzard ( Ozzy does harmonica as well), Iron Man the list goes on, they also had Ronnie James Dio as a singer he formed the band Rainbow and had a solo career, like Ozzy, Guitarist Toni Ioni is actually missing part of one of his fingers.

It's a short film called "Motherland." It has nothing to do with the song, it just fits well with it.

Ozzy had (has) one of the most haunting voices of all time. Remember this song was released during the Vietnam war. While controversial, this music fit the times. A lot of folks never really tried to understand what the band was saying and tried to write off heavy metal as some genre for devil worshipers and conspiracy theorists. You have to ask yourself if this was written today, would it receive the same criticisms. Probably yes, but for different reasons.
