I remember a gamestop employee trying to dissuade my father and I from purchasing Constantine. His whole reasoning was the fact it was gonna be "a shitty tie in game" I am so glad we said "fuck that" and bought it anyway. We have great memories playing this game. Wish it and the movie got more love
Me too played it with my father, when I was 7. I still have a two-disk physical copy. I did play FEAR, Doom, Painkiller, Wolfenstein then and this game was a good addition to my collection. Now it looks shitty, at least, comparing with AAA projects, but then I hadn't known about them well and enjoyed even mean games, simply as kid. Nostalgia really renders games of childhood heavily, especially in the memories.

I adored this game on Xbox. Shots of Constantine's "blessed" jugs of water stacked in his lonely appartment above the bowling alley continue to cycle throughout the title menu. I used to love the mood of this game. In some ways, this game honored the vision of the film while understanding the lore of the source-comic... Very underrated.

Couple things: you can actually see the knuckle dusters on his hands if you angle the camera right on his melee attacks. Next, True Sight not only lets you see the Crucifier nails on the ground ao you dont miss any but it also tracks the Bastados next teleport so you can get a bead on him and not get so overwhelmed. Good on you for finding out the Dragons Breath is great against the bosses with weak spots, just know it mauls the Vermin Demon when he breaks apart and it also absolutely bodies Gabriel at the end, making that fight a breeze
I remember picking this up during a buy one get one bargain bin deal at EBgames back in the day. Dont remember what the other game i got was, but this one sticks out in my memory as a really good time. Havent played it since probably 2007, but i think i still have that copy laying around somewhere in storage.
That film is the first time I noticed Tilda Swinton. Also, although I knew Peter Stormare from his more outlandish roles, his performance as the King of Lies is one of the most memorable of the genre, let alone the medium.
Yeah Tilda was a great choice for Gabriel. Non-blonde and non-Brit -ness aside, I thought Keanu was really good in it. Hell I liked Gavin Rossdale in it as well, way more than I'd have guessed. Rachel Weisz is almost always good. All in all it was really well cast with some solid actors.

The more i look back, the more i realize how much the PS2 Era has such a good library. Imagine what talented devs could do with things from that era nowadays? I remember this movie foundly from my early teenage years. Video Games during this era were just awesome as well. I miss that "No F*cks given" type vibe that video games & movies had back then. Especially compared to nowadays. I hope we can get that back. We need to get people on Twitter to chill out & realize games are games! We can make them as crazy & creative as we want. I didnt have a pc at the time, so I played a lot of this, the max payne game and the punisher one on this, along with sonic heroes in a nearby cyber cafe that charged per hour. Took me weeks to finish them all. Good memories
I used to be into pvp games only when I was teen and this is only single player game that I actually finished coz it had very good atmosphere, I was obsessed with this game for some reason :)
I always loved how the Constatine movie/game depicted Heaven and Hell. In most other media, they are depicted as separate dimensions. But here, Heaven and Hell are actually on opposite ends of a spectrum and the "real world" is somewhere in the middle. Heaven/Hell just look like a much better/worse version or the real world. And exorcists like John Constantine are basically living radios who "tune" themselves towards one end or another in order to interact with otherworldly creatures like angels and demons.
Say what you want about the movie but holy shit it had the best representation of Satan I've ever seen. The suit, the mannerisms, Peter's acting, it was just superb. Highlight of the movie for sure.

Tbh, I played the hell out of this game back on the PS2. I always thought it was pretty damn cool how they added new stuff into the game that wasn’t in the movie, like Constantine shifting into Hell to bypass boundaries in the Earth and using the Spell Tomes.

I loved this game as a child! These were the times when you had manual in your game box, with lore and everything. Revolvers might have been weak, but bullets were stones from the GodDamn "Way of the cross". Metal as Fuck!
Constantine is a freaking great movie and Keanu is perfect for the role. He might not have a British accent or blonde hair, yet he still nails the character.
I remember the uproar over Keanu playing Constantine. People were _pissed off_ that he didn't look like the character at all. Then the movie came out and all those torches & pitchforks quietly got put away because almost everyone realized the movie was actually pretty good. Also, it looks like the shotgun fires in a normal cross spread, not inverted.

Literally watched it yesterday 😅. Probably his most underrated film next to Johnny Mnemonic. Definitely looking forward to the sequel. Quality video as always Gman 👌
I still remember when this movie came out and it just didn't click with me. However when I watched it again with my brother, his friend was there who was religious. He actually helped explain the lore of the items and references in the movie that actually helped it make it enjoyable. For example, he had barrels of holy water around the walls of his apartment to prevent demons from entering. As for movie tie in games, I recall Blade 2 was also enjoyable. While Van Helsing could be beaten in about a hour as long as you skipped the cutscenes.
I remember this game! In fact, I knew about it before I knew about the movie. I was visiting my cousin one time and he just... had it on his PC. Of course we, not speaking English at all at the time, didn't get far, from what I remember. But that moment at the parking lot with cars going crazy, or that old lady getting bodied by the demon... I'll never forget that.
This game and the movie are still some of the best Constantine media out there today. I love the implementation of the Lance Of Longinus as well as the gritter aspects of the DC universe being shown off for once.
Thanks for reminding me that I rented this from Blockbuster or Hollywood Movies when I was 14. Also have a memory of finding The Matrix for PS2 at Blockbuster, screaming in excitement because it was actually available, and hearing another kid say "Well I guess somebody found what they wanted" from the next isle. I could spend hours fighting the agent in hand to hand combat, knowing he's unbeatable but still having fun because of how hard you could end up hitting him.

I remember picking this up during a buy one get one bargain bin deal at EBgames back in the day. Dont remember what the other game i got was, but this one sticks out in my memory as a really good time. Havent played it since probably 2007, but i think i still have that copy laying around somewhere in storage.

That film is the first time I noticed Tilda Swinton. Also, although I knew Peter Stormare from his more outlandish roles, his performance as the King of Lies is one of the most memorable of the genre, let alone the medium.
I played through this whole game just to see if he was in it.
Yeah Tilda was a great choice for Gabriel. Non-blonde and non-Brit -ness aside, I thought Keanu was really good in it. Hell I liked Gavin Rossdale in it as well, way more than I'd have guessed. Rachel Weisz is almost always good. All in all it was really well cast with some solid actors.

The more i look back, the more i realize how much the PS2 Era has such a good library. Imagine what talented devs could do with things from that era nowadays? I remember this movie foundly from my early teenage years. Video Games during this era were just awesome as well. I miss that "No F*cks given" type vibe that video games & movies had back then. Especially compared to nowadays. I hope we can get that back. We need to get people on Twitter to chill out & realize games are games! We can make them as crazy & creative as we want. Same with movies/TV shows. The world is a better place thet way.

I didnt have a pc at the time, so I played a lot of this, the max payne game and the punisher one on this, along with sonic heroes in a nearby cyber cafe that charged per hour. Took me weeks to finish them all. Good memories

I always loved how the Constatine movie/game depicted Heaven and Hell. In most other media, they are depicted as separate dimensions. But here, Heaven and Hell are actually on opposite ends of a spectrum and the "real world" is somewhere in the middle. Heaven/Hell just look like a much better/worse version or the real world. And exorcists like John Constantine are basically living radios who "tune" themselves towards one end or another in order to interact with otherworldly creatures like angels and demons.

Say what you want about the movie but holy shit it had the best representation of Satan I've ever seen. The suit, the mannerisms, Peter's acting, it was just superb. Highlight of the movie for sure.

Tbh, I played the hell out of this game back on the PS2. I always thought it was pretty damn cool how they added new stuff into the game that wasn’t in the movie, like Constantine shifting into Hell to bypass boundaries in the Earth and using the Spell Tomes.
I remember seeing this game back in the day in a bargain bin and passing it up because even then i knew movie based games were not to be trusted, but this review made me wish id given it a chance.

I loved this game as a child! These were the times when you had manual in your game box, with lore and everything. Revolvers might have been weak, but bullets were stones from the GodDamn "Way of the cross". Metal as Fuck!
Constantine is a freaking great movie and Keanu is perfect for the role. He might not have a British accent or blonde hair, yet he still nails the character.
I remember the uproar over Keanu playing Constantine. People were _pissed off_ that he didn't look like the character at all. Then the movie came out and all those torches & pitchforks quietly got put away because almost everyone realized the movie was actually pretty good.
Also, it looks like the shotgun fires in a normal cross spread, not inverted.

The Constantine movie introduced me to A Perfect Circle - Passive. I am forever thankful for that. Plus the movie was okay.
I remember playing it on Xbox as a kid and having a blast.
I still remember when this movie came out and it just didn't click with me. However when I watched it again with my brother, his friend was there who was religious. He actually helped explain the lore of the items and references in the movie that actually helped it make it enjoyable.
For example, he had barrels of holy water around the walls of his apartment to prevent demons from entering.
As for movie tie in games, I recall Blade 2 was also enjoyable. While Van Helsing could be beaten in about a hour as long as you skipped the cutscenes.
No NPC civilians deaths? Heckin wholesome chungus epic style.
Don't care about the accuracy, Constantine was awesome. Really wish they kept it going. Like Blade or Spawn, it's a really unique universe.

I remember this game! In fact, I knew about it before I knew about the movie. I was visiting my cousin one time and he just... had it on his PC. Of course we, not speaking English at all at the time, didn't get far, from what I remember. But that moment at the parking lot with cars going crazy, or that old lady getting bodied by the demon... I'll never forget that.

This game and the movie are still some of the best Constantine media out there today. I love the implementation of the Lance Of Longinus as well as the gritter aspects of the DC universe being shown off for once.
Thanks for reminding me that I rented this from Blockbuster or Hollywood Movies when I was 14. Also have a memory of finding The Matrix for PS2 at Blockbuster, screaming in excitement because it was actually available, and hearing another kid say "Well I guess somebody found what they wanted" from the next isle. I could spend hours fighting the agent in hand to hand combat, knowing he's unbeatable but still having fun because of how hard you could end up hitting him.
