They should make a sleeper Oberth. It can't even go to warp, it has to ride a generated warp wave to get anywhere. But the "nacells" are massive shield generators that the assimilation cube couldn't even drain. The bottom "canoe" part is an oversized phaser lance. Everyone thinks its weak but then they get annihilated.
The phaser lance could actually work, given that the mission pod is detachable and interchangeable… Definitely enough room to cram another warp core in there to power it!
THIS! A brilliant idea! But...knowing Starfleet, they would just promote you from Ensign to Lt. 2nd grade for suggesting this and saving the Federation. 💀
I think the only reason the Federation brings an Oberth-class is its sensors, they to me are the Federation version of a Grumman E-2 Hawkeye, It helps the fleet get the best data, gets data on the enemy for later analysis hence they are seen at most major fights,
Venom geek media uses them in his domionin. War videos in this manner they provide data to ships hiding in a gas cloud or nebula allowing them to torpedo spam through it and hit domion ships outside of their weapons range
Heres a request: How many NX-01's does it take to take down a borg sphere or even a cube. I wanna see what happens if the assimilated transport craft on ST Enterprise was fully converted to a true borg ship before the Enterprise could catch up
The second to last run seemed to peter out because Oberths only seem to have 30 torpedos so they probably ran out when the sphere was down to the last 10-15% hull and the phasers weren’t doing anything.
Since it took every California Class ship to defeat one Texas Class in Lower Decks, you'd think that thousands of Oberths would be required to take down a Borg Sphere.
I think the Oberth at Wolf 359 was like Britain during WWII, just throwing everything including your grandmothers chair at the Germans. The Oberths were most definitely your grandmothers chair!
I would not want to get hit in the face with my grandmother's chair. It was big and had to mass 200 pounds at a minimum. When she was in her 90's, some dude tried to break into her house, so she picked it up and tossed it at him. The guy looked like he had been hit by a truck. (Some elements of the above paragraph might have been fictional.)
Are for real? Have you not heard of the "battle of Britain"? Us brits held off the German luftwaffe. With far less superior numbers of fighter planes "Spitfires and Hurricanes" against far more German fighter's and not to mention bombers too!
True story: my friends and I did this on Star Trek Online. My friend took out an Oberth class against the Borg and named it the USS I'm So Screwed. He never survived more than 15 seconds before he was one shot by the Borg! 😹🙀
@@jeffcullifer5629 honestly Shields dont even exist anymore the speed they vanish at high end missions and TFO/Patrols you really just rely on hull or dodging. Still a fun game though
Of course Saffi has a sense of humor. She just tends to misplace it somewhere in her quarters. She even had Brex look for it with a tricorder once, when she couldn't find it. He couldn't find it either, though. 😛
Pretty good result for the Oberth given how many ships of more powerful classes were lost at Wolf 359. OK sure this is a sphere not a cube but it goes to show, swarm tactics work best against the Borg. Speaking of Wolf 359 an Oberth being there might be down to desperation although performing deep scans on the cube and relaying that info to the fleet of where to target would make sense tactically, although still a very risky mission. If I were in Starfleet tactical and with limited resources, the was I'd use them is as fireships. Load them up with explosives, set the warp core to breach, use the bare minimum crew and have them set a ramming course on the Borg ship and beam the hell out of there.
I had to laugh throughout the entire video. Awesome! XD Meanwhile, somewhere deep in the Delta quadrant: "The Federation isn't really doing this, is it ? Send in our unlimited supply of rectangles!"
I was going to mention The Jenolan but looking that up, it was more like The Raven. I've had a random thought, how many Delta Flyers would it take vs a Sphere?
There is one way to make the battle canoe useful, remote pilot them and use them as anti-matter warp anti-borg missiles, kind of like the Cardassian dreadnought missiles.
Take an Oberth class ship, remove ALL the science equipment and nonessential's from it, and, pack the newly emptied space with torpedoes and shield-generators. And, of course, give it ablative armor.
Somehow I suspect 50 Oberths take less material to construct than a sphere and also require fewer crew/drones. If this actually happened in canon it would be bad for the borg.
exactly! i mean...in TOS they sent in the Constellation kamikaze to win against an otherwise impregnable Planet Eater/Doomsday Machine...Starfleet in the 24th century just doesn't have the brains when it comes to tactics.

At the end of the day though, that means you can be a Chad Borg Sphere, while the audience can be Virgin Oberth Classes.
