It took me awhile to learn - The absolute best way to do a glue up is to do a dry fit. That way you’ll know in advance what’s needed. Even now I’ll forget - thankfully I remember before the glue is added. The dry fit method so often mentioned by knowledge woodworkers went over and through my head. I can say - the dry fit is fool proof.
I invested in these clamps and found them so cumbersome to us and adjust that they sit on a shelf collecting dust, I find it a lot easier to use parallel clamps and cawl sticks. Sad because they were expensive and well made but just to difficult to set up. Definitely use extended set up glue if you plan on using the Clampzilla

we can wrap tape to protect the clamps from glue. Or we can stretch wrap. But you said that the adhesives come off when they dry. This was good news.
You do not work with the design premise of the clamps that being the same thickness of boards and don't mask off against the glue squeeze out , you work against yourself and declare you only get satisfactory results with these clamps or maybe it's you????? DUH!. You could have used small wedges under the bars on each plank and aline to one face. How is not following the design function of the devices and call it any kind of a valid test or review of the clamps? Just wasted some good wood is all you 'tested'. Scissor effect works perfectly with same thickness boards. Maybe your fault because you didn't plan ahead?????.... Maybe????. Drill a few more holes in the bars. Clamps work fine. It IS you, no 'maybes'.
I know the review isn’t the greatest and I do actually plan on doing another video later using the same thickness on all the pieces. I know there were some mistakes I made I. The process. However, I would caution you when advising people to modify a product they purchased with their money. Any manufacturer of a product will void the warranty without approved modifications. And as much as these clamps cost, I do not plan on drilling holes and voiding the lifetime warranty. I appreciate your critical input and will keep it in mind when updating the review. I will also be including the mini ones later on as well.
