  • Fodder Farming and Its importance:
Fodder, often overlooked, plays a crucial role in agriculture and livestock farming. Here are several reasons why fodder is important:
Livestock Nutrition: Fodder serves as the primary source of nutrition for livestock, providing essential nutrients such as carbohydrates, proteins, vitamins, and minerals necessary for their growth, reproduction, and overall health.
Cost-Effectiveness: Utilizing fodder efficiently can significantly reduce feeding costs for livestock farmers, as it's often more cost-effective compared to purchasing commercial feed.
Diversification of Feed: Fodder allows farmers to diversify their feed sources, reducing reliance on single types of feed and mitigating the risk of feed shortages or price fluctuations.
Improved Animal Health: A balanced diet obtained from diverse fodder sources contributes to better animal health, reducing the incidence of diseases and improving resistance to environmental stressors.
Enhanced Reproduction: Proper nutrition from quality fodder can enhance reproductive performance in livestock, leading to increased fertility rates and healthier offspring.
Ecosystem Services: Certain fodder crops, such as legumes and cover crops, provide ecosystem services like soil fertility improvement, erosion control, and carbon sequestration, benefiting both agriculture and the environment.
Sustainability: Fodder production can be integrated into sustainable agricultural practices, such as crop rotation and agroforestry, promoting soil health, biodiversity, and long-term agricultural resilience.
Income Generation: For farmers, cultivating fodder crops can serve as an additional income stream through direct sales or by supporting their livestock production, thereby improving livelihoods and rural economies.
Food Security: Reliable fodder production ensures a consistent food supply for livestock, which is essential for food security, especially in regions where livestock rearing is a primary source of protein for human consumption.
Climate Resilience: Diverse fodder species can contribute to climate resilience by providing options that are more resilient to changing weather patterns, such as drought-tolerant crops or those suitable for agroecological conditions.
In summary, fodder is not just feed for livestock; it's a cornerstone of sustainable agriculture, supporting animal health, farmer livelihoods, and environmental stewardship.

Arshad bhy it is very nice to see new types of fodders in Potohar area. I pray that production and use of thes fodders be increased so that we may increase volume of milk and beef in Pakistan. I propose that a big dairy farms be established In Potohar areas like Attock, Talagang or Chakwal so that production of dairy products, leather, beaf and allied industries is increased to create jobs and improve the health of people.ln the mean time I have listened that we are growing the grass named as roadh in Thar areas of Sind which is South Africa origin .I have also listened that we are exporting this fodders to Saudi Arabia. I propose that you should also visit other agricultural areas so that our growers may also know the alternate products and techniques Thank you .Please carry on.

The last fodder in this video looks like OATS ! not javvi . Javvi is barley. In sindh oats are called Dhanak . It grows as a weed in wheat fields.
