Great video!! I have subscribed because you know how to make the right choice and teach others. One advice: never chug on water when dehydrated! Small sips of water is better.

I’ve been solo backpacking, with archery tackle, the wilds of the west for a decade. I also learned early on, if you want to hunt solo, you owe it to the amazing animals to hunt where you can safely ensure every ounce of meat comes home! Good on you for realizing that a harvest would not have been the end of the hunt! Great video and very honest and entertaining.

I’ve seen your gear reviews but after watching this I had to subscribe. Awesome testimony. I feel your pain!

I'm building a new computer to edit my 2020 season. It's going to be a much more fruitful video! Haha

Went to Utah this year for the opener in August by myself for elk. Drove from western NY 1900 miles. Shot a cow at 8 yards the second day, packed her out in two trips 3.5 miles back to the truck. Had tons of fun and saw a load of elk. Going back again this year with two buddies hoping to tag out again. Enjoy your videos, keep up the hard work!!

Dude, your videos are literally the most enjoyable, funny, but down to earth real deal hunting/archery videos I have ever watched. Hope to catch you at this years TN archery challenge. Take it easy my man.

I thought that was a really honest video. I don't think a lot of people would wear their heart on their sleeve like you do. Keep up the good work.

The Sawyer Squeeze is about 20x faster to filter water than the mini!!

I’ve enjoyed several of your videos, this one was the best. Your attitude through the negative parts was refreshing. Handled those things way better than I would have.

100 lbs? And you forgot the batteries! I love hunting in Utah. Been doing it partially solo for about 7 years now.

Elk meat is always worth the effort. Cow, spike or bull. Maybe I’m saying that because I don’t have to drive across the country to get into them though. I enjoy your videos man. Takes allot of balls to hike in solo that many miles. Respect, I like you even more now.

These challenging expeditions are hell during but I have a feeling, that like myself, you look back at them more fondly than most other times in your life.
The only time I have cried in my adult life was 5 days into my SW CO deep Wilderness elk hunt at the age of 31 because I missed my wife and kids. Worth it though, because I cannot wait until this Sept. to get back.
Also, those dadgum cows are FRUSTRATING and EVERYWHERE....
If we cross paths at a TAC or in SW CO elk mountains this year, I'll have some spare batteries for ya.
Keep up the great videos, brother. They are enjoyed and appreciated.

I said before, right after I found your channel(a few days ago)....that you were like in my top 3 favorite content creators....well, you are officially my #1 favorite, hands down. I wish you were in Ohio, we would have a fkn blast together! If you ever wanna come and smoke an Ohio giant...we own property in Coshocton County....literally one of the best monster white tail counties in the country....hit me up. I can make it happen.

I'm going back this year to the same spot solo. I learned where the elk were and I want to test the education I've gone through this year. Thanks for the offer. If I go somewhere else, I'll let you know. Thanks again.

@@brandonmcdonald6121 sound pretty awesome. Is this a Spike Hunt. I know its really hard to draw the limited tags in Utah. I am heading the Zion for archery deer so will be there in Aug.

You are great, Love the videos, keeps me laughing. I plan on doing a public land elk hunt to Colorado next September. I will remember to come back to this before I leave for the hunt in Colorado, it will be good for pre-trip prep. Thanks for the videos keep them coming.

Solo hunting elk is pretty rough. Once the animal is down your looking at packing out hundreds of pounds of meat by yourself. It was wise to pass on that elk in the bowl.

So... you brought ALL that crap but only one Nalgene of water and a battery powered water purification system and no system for filtering solids (cause that SteriPen doesn't fix sediment and other contaminants)??? Dude WTF... As a W-EMT and someone who's worked SAR and EMS for a long time you're the kind of person I would get called out to go rescue regularly... but hey, you made a nice video...
