When I first heard it, I was shocked and extremely impressed. It taught me that Freddie had not lost his high notes and that he still had a lot to show us. It also made me sad, because he didn't get to do that. Have you listened to Freddie's last recording, "Mother Love"? It's beautiful with lyrics by Bryan May that seared my soul. Bryan had to record the last stanza, because Freddie never made it back. Listening will make you cry, but it is so beautiful. I don't know how either singer could get through it, yet Freddie's voice is stunning and Bryan matches Freddie well.

shame you chose not to watch the video,its beautifully animated to bring awareness to AIDS white blood cell being affected and showing the isolation at the time,it wasn't prioritised taking the journey further than freddie experienced unfortunatly that treatment to surpress HIV has been found,and people can have a good life span with the disease also shown in the video,at the end they are wearing wedding rings,Freddie reffered to Jim as his husband (And they wore rings) but they couldn't marry that has changed now

I think you both interpreted this perfectly. Freddie was great with Queen, but he always felt the need to do his own thing. Freddie did use his own voice to harmonize on several different recordings. Another great song where it is just Freddie is You take my breath away studio version.

Freddie was not the first to do a solo project. Roger was the first. They just wanted to do their own thing but these were projects on the side of Queen. There was never actual talk of breaking up. Did you notice the video? This video was made a few years ago to go with the song as a way to raise funds for the Freddie Mercury Aids Foundation. Its a beautiful video. True. Freddie said many times that they were (and wanted to be) free to do their own solo projects while still a part of queen. And he said that when they came back together to make music as Queen, they realized that the best musically they could be was together. But they all did solo projects and wanted to do that. It wasn't because of some big fight, it was because these people were incredibly creative musically and wanted to try music either alone or with other accompaniment. It never meant Queen was breaking up and I think that's one thing the movie did a disservice to. There was also a deep loyalty, they were friends since boyhood. I love Freddie's solo work as well, but the cute thing about it is, Freddie says that Brian and Roger worked on all his solo tracks with him and either played back up and helped him produce...💕. They depended on one another.
Brian and Roger had also done solos work...before Freddie did by the way. Their works were done during their Queen "holidays" if you like. He did some fantastic solo work.

You MUST hear Exercises in Free Love by Freddie if you truly want to hear what this man can do. In My Defense is a Freddie song, but Queen added the backing and included it on the Made in Heaven album. Too Much Love will Kill You was written by Brian, but he wanted Freddie to sing it. They are both great.
The video for this is perfectly pitched, relating to the struggle against HIV/AIDS (the lovers as white blood cells) and the stigma for gay men at the time, and ending with the virus under control with the couple living happily ever after... which was so sad that if Freddie had lived just a few more years, the new retro-viral HIV drugs may have saved him... 😔

The Hungarian Rhapsody Live in Budapest is a great film from their concert in 1986. Not a simple video, this made by 17 camera with 35 mm film. Contains funny moment too on their trip in the city. Freddy sang a Hungarian folksong.

The video for this is perfectly pitched, relating to the struggle against HIV/AIDS (the lovers as white blood cells) and the stigma for gay men at the time, and ending with the virus under control with the couple living happily ever after... which was so sad that if Freddie had lived just a few more years, the new retro-viral HIV drugs may have saved him... 😔

The Hungarian Rhapsody Live in Budapest is a great film from their concert in 1986. Not a simple video, this made by 17 camera with 35 mm film. Contains funny moment too on their trip in the city. Freddy sang a Hungarian folksong.

Just to explain I think theres some confusion due to Freddie planning to do two solo albums
Their manager and band members have confirmed that Freddie had no intention of leaving
Freddie also confirmed this in an interview
Mr Bad Guy was recorded between recording and touring the works album 84
Had made a start on it in 83
It was released during the works tour 85 and Freddie didnt promote it
It was just something he wanted to do,
Roger had done two solos and in the brake Brian did an lp
their manager Beach set the deal up and he was paid a lot of money
He planned to do his second album 86/87
I think this was decided before the 86 magic tour
Planning to fit it in between the next Queen album
An agreed brake
But at the end of the magic tour Freddie was struggling and realised something serious was wrong
And told the band he wouldn't be touring again he was done
Initially they just thought he was tired and in a bad mood
Freddie said he wasn't walking away from Queen he would still record but not tour
But he wanted things done differently and thought they should only continue after their brake if everyone really wanted it
He said in an interview they went back to the studio and everyone was hungry for it
For his second solo he asked Mike Moran to work with him
They had made a start and completed a song which Brian played guitar,Freddie didnt continue his solo album but worked with montsarat instead,this track was later reworked for Queen
Feb 87 Freddie did a cover of great pretender and Roger did backing backing vocals in drag!
Freddie did a single Barcalona,they then decided to do an album
Between the two he found out he had Aids
He only told Montsarat not the band at that time
But the band weren't hanging around worried if Queen would continue
There would have been issues over Freddie not wanting to tour
Initially they were told he had liver problems
They had agreed to have proper brakes between albums which was extended by Freddie to do his album but he wanted everyone to do different things and continue if its what they really wanted but things would be different such as shared credits
87 Roger started the cross and they brought out an album in 88
Freddie did backing vocals on one of Rogers track un credited but Roger confirmed it
Freddie also recorded lead on the song which was later used on the made in heaven album
87 john did bass on a Barcelona track
According to mike roger did backing vocals on another track uncredited
Some people think it was for mr bad guy but mike wasn't inv in that
So theres confusion over what he did
Brian isnt on his solo work but a track which would have been but became a Queen track
So they were all very aware of what Freddie was doing and there wasnt an issue with it
And Freddie was still supporting roger and his new band
But when it came to deciding if Queen was continuing there were some issues to compromise on but they all wanted it
Also a lot of personal issues to deal with between 86 magic tour and recording miracle 88
Freddie was diagnosed with aids and sarcoma so had to start treatment between working at 5 am so no one would know
Prenter sold stories to the paper about Freddie
Roger met someone doing a video for his new band and left his partner,his youngest was one
Brian had been having an affair when his wife was pregnant she found out and they got divorced
So the press were having a field day with them

in real life Reid left them in 78,6 years before he did his solo
Beach their lawyer/manager got the solo deal for freddie,,yes there were issues because he was paid so much
Freddie released his solo during their works tour 85
Roger had released two solo albums and Brian released an Lp
he didn't finish his album he put it on hold while they did the works tour aug 84 to may 85
they were heavily fined for going to sun city in oct 84,didn't tour nov and dec,he finished his album
he was supposed to do his second album in87 and had started it with Mike Moran
but chose to put it to one side to do an album with Montsarat and din't go back to finishing his second album
when it was finished he did the miracle album with the band
he found out between recording the single Barcalona and the album that he had AIDS
