My Animus looks like a hippie yogi with a man-bun on his head. He told me to tidy my art room up so my mind feels less cluttered and to keep notepads on all desks to write things down to assist with task organization and ideas. You have no idea how amazing these active imagination exercises are for my psyche and how much they have helped with my animus, and also, thank you as always--I am very grateful and appreciative. Have a great day
Thank you for sharing your experience. It's fascinating to hear how your Animus has manifested as a 'hippie yogi' and provided such tangible advice. The connection you've drawn between your art room, notepads, and your mental creative spaces is insightful. A tidy environment can indeed cultivate a more focused mind and productive creativity. The Anima/Animus exercises are versatile and can be used as frequently as you feel necessary. Observing the evolution of your Animus over time could provide even more enriching insights. Your feedback is sincerely appreciated. Knowing that you and others are finding value in these exercises and engaging deeply with your unconscious minds makes this work worthwhile. Please continue to share your experiences and feel free to ask any questions along your journey. We're here to support and learn from each other.
You are very kind 🙂. Thank you for the words of encouragement. I'm delighted to hear the exercises are proving helpful for you. There is a world of treasure to be discovered through this technique and the rest of Jung's work. It's an honour to think I may be contributing to his great legacy even if only in my small way. Your support means a great deal to me. Thank you.
Hi Max, this was a super fun experience!! I would like to share it since it was really enjoyable and made me very happy. Apprently I had met my Animus before while doing active imagination, yet I didn't know it was a thing. That time I was standing at the beach and another me walks into the ocean. My body turned into this energy light body and I meet something masculine that had fins. He seemed like a guardian of the ocean, and he seemed to really like me in a very platonic, natural and uncoditional way. Now, I was a bit apprehensive to try this exercise. I was once again at the beach, however this time I'm sitting and hugging my knees, feeling sad. Then a guy comes out of the water, naked (!!!), somewhat like a greek sculpture model. Again, there was this pure, strong and whole love. He eventually carries me in his arms, and I feel like I can let go of the worry, fear and sadness, knowing that he wasn't going to hurt me and that he didn't want anything from me. When I asked if he had any messages, he simply hugged me closer and tighter, as in saying "Don't worry, I will keep you safe". Then his body grew very tall and he carried me into the clouds, where I stepped out and opened my eyes. It's funny how love and sex are, at the same time, what brings me the most fulfilment and what got the most twisted and disconnected growing up. I surely feel like a weight has been lifted, finally feeling the unconditional love everyone talks about!! Hahahaha what a revelation. Thank you a lot!!
Hi Laura, thank you for sharing. I’m glad to hear your experience of engaging with the Animus was so profound. It is a testament to the remarkable power of active imagination and your practice of wholesome intentions, which is laudable. Active imagination can certainly be fun sometimes. You might have found it’s often challenging too, sometimes highly cathartic, and at other times not. Whilst it’s different every time, it is always worthwhile. Your experiences point to a developing relationship with the animus and the masculine. The first experience sounds like you encountered a Neptunian/Poseidon-like figure. He is often associated with the unconscious, dreams and intuition. His description as a guardian of the ocean could represent his role as a protector or guide in the deeper aspects of the unconscious. Perhaps it is pointing to Animus integration work as a way to delve deeper into previously untraversable or painful content. In the second experience the guardian theme continues. The Greek sculpture suggests an idealised form of masculinity. Nakedness, too, could also symbolise the bare essence of something. Everything you encounter during these exercises is a reflection of your own mind, and this particular encounter seems to focus on healing, support, and elevation. It's as if your unconscious is telling you that amidst your vulnerabilities and fears, you have an intrinsic strength and support system, ready to uplift and protect you. The Animus, in this context, seems to be a representation of your inner strength, support, and love, urging you to trust yourself and the journey you’re on. The sadness you experienced at the start of the visualisation could be a window into further self-knowledge and worth exploring further such as through the Emotional Integration Meditation. You hit upon something deeply resonant, Laura, when you mention the duality of love and sex. It indeed can be sources of both fulfillment and vulnerability. The challenges and disconnections you experienced growing up with regard to these aspects resonate with many. Our relationship with the Anima/Animus and its propensity for projection is one of the reasons for this. Doing Anima/Animus integration work can be a powerful way to cultivate more nourishing relationships with the opposite sex whilst developing discernment. It is wonderful to hear you’ve begun to tap into a sense of unconditional love, as reflected in your experience. It will be interesting to see how your experience of the Animus evolves over time, and how doing this work influences your relationships with the men in your life. Feel free to continue sharing your experiences and asking any questions as you need.
That's a brilliant way to describe active imagination - "like driving into the deep end of the pool and just chilling there." Sounds like you've been doing well to open up to the unconscious and developing your symbolic literacy. Keep going and feel free to share your experiences.
@@makeitconscious this whole time I was I identifying with thoughts. Consciousness ( the outer world) subconscious (inner world) and thoughts (ego) . The ego can travel in and out of both. They are all one.
Interesting... I'd not thought about these terms this way. Consciousness and the sub/unconscious to me can pertain to both the outer and inner worlds. Although I can see why these pairs might be associated with the masculine and feminine respectively. Glad the exercise was able to help you identify less with your thoughts. You might be interested to explore some of the work by the great German idealist philosophers such as Fichte, Schelling and Hegel, if you haven't already. They wrote a lot about the nature of these realities and their underlying unity. They are a great inspiration to the content I release here on TH-cam and the blog at makeitconscious.com.
