I just found this video tonight! Great memories of Glenway Ave.! When I was a kid before we moved away, we would go to the Covedale Theatre to see newly-released motion pictures. My younger sister and i went to see Walt Disney's "The Three Lives Of Thomasina" (1963) and me and my schoolmate friends from St.Dominic School went there to see the epic movie "The Longest Day" when it was first released. The Covedale Theatre was a great movie theatre and we kids went to see many movies there. In closing, I really miss Frisch's and White Castle. You are soooooo lucky to live in the Queen City with those restaurants. Erv, you may have lived in Houston but, now you are "home"! Speaking of good food, did you know that there is still an original "Pasquale's Pizza" in Newport, Kentucky? Our family used to go to Pasquale's for carry out all the time when I was a little kid over at the old ("now gone") location on the NE corner of W. 8th St. and Overlook. Back in the 1950's to "at least" 1964, Pasquale's pizza was worth dying for. They had 21 locations in the Greater Cincinnati Area back then--- my mom and dad told me that the very first Pasquale's location opened on Queen City Ave. a few years after they were married and dad regularly went down there for pizza and hoagies because the location on W. 8th St. hadn't opened yet. I wonder if that remaining Pasquale's location over in Newport is as great as I remember when I was a kid. Erv, if you check it out, PLEASE let me know how it is! Again, sorry so lengthy! --- John
walked it to school when I was a teen. hung out around there as a kid nice to see western bowl and arbys still the same. I have a glenway sign in my office I got before moving to texas.
The Grand Buffet was a Fudrucker's burger joint before it became the Chinese buffet. And it's the best one around. Golden Coral is now Newcomber's Funeral Home. That bank used to be a First Federal bank. It was a car lot years ago. And prior to that it was a 50's style diner called Sandy's.
Erv, The "Main Source Bank" parking lot was "Sandy's" similar to "McDonalds", but carry out only. In the late 60's The "Happy's Pizza" was a "TEXICO" gas station until the 80's " The "Carter" school used to be known as "Carson Elementary" in the 1960's The "Dollar Tree" used to be an old "Sears & Roebuck" store in the 60's
The bank originally was a Sandy's Burger place.Across the street from that was a Beef Corral Restaurant. Actually. Roy Roger's was behind Frisch's They shared the lot
okay, thanks for the info! I knew that Roy Rogers was behind Frisch's, but I am pretty sure Frisch's was in a smaller building in a different spot, and the Roy Rogers property has now been absorbed by the new Frisch's.

It is such a great view. One of these days I am going to do a short video from inside the library!
