    I had this done today L5-S1 for a bad herniated disc…It went very well. It is amazing for my sciatica pain. I have no more pain or cramps or any sciatic pains down the leg. I had those awfull pain for 5 months now, injection, physio, Chiro didn’t help. I wasn’t able to sit anymore and walking was very difficult and Painfull and on Dilodid pills multiple times a day. Surgery didn’t take long, under two hours without any complications. I am so gratfull. I can walk now short distances and stand up/down by myself hours after the surgery. I know that pain killers will go in a fews days/week but I’m very confident that it will be a win. Only now… not feeling down the extremely bad cramps and pain down my leg is worth it. We’ll see how it goes from here but i had no other option, when pain is unbearable… you can’t live like. Take care alls!

      @@ritikmehta3184 hey!! Thanks for your good words! I’m now home, I was 4 days the hospital. The second and third day was the worst day for the pain. But the nurse were able to manage it very well with pain meds injection. The fourth day was soooooo much better as the inflamatory phase has passed. And in th fourth day was able the go home! I didnt need any injection for pain. Pills are doing the job. Now I’m able to walk and again without any sciatic pain!! The pain now is really managable and its only where I got the surgery.

      Day 5 after the surgery, I’m doing very good! I’m by myself and i can do every thing I need. The important thing is not bending forward or lift charge more than 10lbs. I can crouch instead. I just need to keep my back flat and not twist it.

      This surgery saved myself as the pain before the surgery was unbearable. As soon has i woke up after the surgery I could felt my legs normally without sciatic pain…. The surgery was stressfull for me but it was the only option as I could have lost the ability to move my leg the more my disc degenerated. I feel lucky to had a extremely competent surgeon. Will continue my recovory and will keep updating if you guys want! Take care all

    I've been watching a lot videos about this procedure. I am having the procedure on May 21, 2024. It is a long time coming. I've had severe back and leg pain since 2014. I was initially referred to physical therapy at which time my hips starting hurting badly resulting in total hip replacements in July 2022 (left hip) and May 2023 (right hip). I was hoping that the hip replacements would ease my back pain. No such luck. I am 64 years old and had three back surgeries at the age of 12. I have an excellent neurosurgeon who has spelled out the pros and cons of the procedure, so I'm ready for the journey. I was recently diagnosed with something called arachnoiditis which is a painful chronic condition probably caused by all of the surgeries and injections. It has been a battle. I am a college professor and have been teaching completely online since the pandemic. It has been a Godsend to able to keep my job without having to stand in front of a class. In my present condition, I would not be able to stand. I am planning to teach one on-campus class and four online during fall semester. I miss seeing my students in person. Believe it or not, I'm looking forward to the surgery in hopes of some pain relief!

    What long term risks are there?
    The German disc replacement surgery has always been popular because these fusions had a high risk of major long term issues in the nearest disc eventually?

    How to strengthen this area without hurting it? What exact exercises and stretches can i do and slowly progress to? My goal is to achieve strength and relieve pain. I would appreciate so much if you can answer these questions thank you in advance.

      On Medicare the cost will be quite low. I just had a total hip replacement. The billed cost was about $73,000.00 and I paid $242.00

    so fusion done now load will transfer to other discs right?

    • @Hapkido82AUS
      @Hapkido82AUS 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Most of the time that would have already happened as the old busted disc calcified over the years
      And also flattened out, this would give more space

    What reason’s are there to conduct a PLIF over the ALIF and vice versa. Both procedures seem to address the same issue, any reason to incise from the front or back?

    • @CrankyPantss
      @CrankyPantss ปีที่แล้ว

      I’ve been wondering that, too. I read, (can’t remember where), that they like the ALIF because it doesn’t disturb the muscles of the back like the PLIF would do and therefore preserve strength and stability, but then they still go through the back to put the screws in. I'd also, like to know why they would choose the ALIF over the PLIF.

    • @songbirds3712
      @songbirds3712 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I am not sure why the ALIF is the more “popular” procedure. I do however, know a couple interesting facts about the ALIF. When undergoing the ALIF, there must be a vascular surgeon in the operating room because the incision made is very close to your aorta. The scheduling of the surgery, therefore, is dependent upon the availability of the vascular surgeon. Also, previous surgeries, in my case gall bladder, appendix, and complete hysterectomy made the ALIF a bad idea because of the probability of scar tissue and adhesions.

    • @youknowwho8700
      @youknowwho8700 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@songbirds3712correct. I’ve had a failed artificial disc replacement and now need a PLIF. They can do the ALIF but the likelihood of the aorta and other veins being encased in scar tissue makes it a high risk surgery. Plus getting the ADR out is also very difficult.

      Many factors contribute to the cost of a medical procedure. Country, procedure location, insurance type, + an individual's specific circumstances are a few factors to consider. Bonsoir a tous. Je recherches des témoignages. J'ai subit syndrome queue de cheval en 2009. Grande laminectomie. Sur canal lombaire 7mm.. agrandi à 9mm. Hernie discale L4 L5. Séquelles neurologiques irréversibles. Sondages urinaire. Vessies neurologiques.
    J'ai tenus le coup de 2009. A 2018..même si mes mouvements étaient déjà bien limitée. J'avais 45 ans.
    Depuis 2018. Je souffre énormément. Je ne peux plus rien faire. Périmètre de marche et paresthésie jambes..douleurs dorsale. Lombaire. Maintenant c'est incontinence.
    J'ai revu récemment le professeur barrey cedric de Lyon qui me propose arthrodèse lombaire L3 L5. Technique latéral plif L3 L4.
    J'ai un glissement de vertèbres. Discarthrose. Kyste synovial L3 L4. Arthrose facettaire sévère. Je suis insuffisante rénal et cardiaque. 😢 j'ai besoin de témoignage pour accepter où pas cette arthrodèse. Les risques que m'a mentionner le neurochirurgiens sont nombreux. Est-ce que quelqu'un subi cette arthrodèse L3 L5. Avec cette technique latéral plif L3 L4.. j'ai peur de me retrouver en fauteuil roulant où pire.

      Most likely your nerves are irritated due to the procedure. Use ice packs and ask your doctor what other medications you can take. Get rest but make sure you walk.

      @sra8485 Hi, for some reason, I never got the notification that you had replied to me. It turned out the electric shock feeling was my nerves waking up and starting to regrow from the nerve root! That's how many of them were compressed pre surgery and they all came awake, sort of all at once! My doctor called it in a prednisone pack for me. And that helped, plus they calmed down once they started regrowing, but that Shocky feeling was them coming to life again!
