You can pick the tomatoes green just before they start to ripen and wrap them in newspapers and have tomatoes all winter. All you have to do is store the wrapped ones in a box in a cool dry room. When you want to have some take what you need out, unwrap them and leave them out on the counter. In 3 or 4 days they will be ripe. People do that here every year.

2yrs ago I grew Roma VF which were large plum. They were grown in large terracotta pots and gave a very good crop. They were certainly blight resistant. I grew them this yr but it was like I'd grown a different tomato as the fruits were small but plenty and not blight resistant. I had to take all the fruit off and ripen indoors. Thanks for the video. Looking forward to seeing the results of your squash this yr. All the best from West Yorkshire England.

Maggs H Thanks for sharing! How weird that the fruits were so different! We’ll probably film the winter squash video next weekend as right now we’re on our way to Europom in Belgium, an international fruit exhibition:)

I grew Mountain Magic last year and was very impressed. Large yields of golf-ball size tomatoes. Lasted in the garden longer than other varieties. Vigorous. In Florida, US- wet summer

Thanks for sharing, James! So interesting to compare notes from different climates! I'm doing a new trial this year that will include 6 new varieties with some degree of resistance - I can't wait for the results. I'm still waiting for the weather to warm up before I plant my tomateos - we had frost last night :(

We also grew Mountain Magic, and are very pleased with the variety, and will continue with it.
We also planted the MOUNTAIN MERIT, which we are also going to continue with.

Four varieties that I grow well in the UK are Gardeners Delight, broad yellow ripple, subarctic plenty and black krim.

clbridge73 Thanks for the tips! Do you shelter the plants in any way?

Good video, thank you. Among the hybrid varieties you mentioned, I grew "Jasper F1", "Damsel F1", and "Mountain Magic F1" in my USDA Zone 6b/7a garden in metro Philadelphia. "Mountain Magic F1" was indeed very disease-resistant in my 2019 growing season, but it had a thick skin and an average taste (just sweet, not very tasty). I grew Jasper and Damsel for two years. Damsel did very well in taste, yield, as well as disease resistance; in fact Damsel was the best variety in 2000 in terms of taste, yield and disease- resistance. Jasper also did very well in yields, taste, and disease resistance. I think Jasper F1 tastes better than "Super Sweet 100 F1 tomato" in almost every aspects.

The two varieties I have tried are crimson crush( cherry type) and Ferline( larger) . Both F1 hybrids. Crimson crush tends to ripen earlier and thus less prone to blight. Ferline is a strong growing variety , this year and last the stems showed signs of blight before they were ripe so I harvested green but they have ripened well at home. Only lost half a dozen actual tomatoes. Next year I am thinking of trying losatto.

Jan Willetts Thanks for sharing! I tried Ferline some years ago but it also ripened late and by that time the plant was affected by disease. The summer was not as warm then though. Losetto is early and very productive in my experience so we get a good harvest before the plants become diseased

I have tried the mountain magic and it did well for me. I'd love to try Primabella, but can't get them in the US. I'd love to purchase some from you since it's OP. I've got PayPal for it if you're willing. I believe small quantities are allowed by customs. Thanks for the video.

I've been growing tomatoes for years. Last year, I tried the Crimson Crush F1 against the mold. Some seed stores interpret them as: very resistant to mould. Elsewhere than a tomato with both resistance genes Ph-2 and Ph-3. Cize according to me layman it is a GMO. I was satisfied. But can't something like GMO cereal and a skull problem be threatened? I would very much like them to be competent.
