The Airbus A380 Just Made a HUGE Comeback & SHOCKS The Entire Aviation Industry!

- The Airbus A380 is the biggest commercial aircraft in the entire world. At first, lots of airlines bought it, but then fewer and fewer did because the aviation space was changing with different market demands. When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, it seemed like the end for the A380, because no one was flying and all the A380s had to stay grounded. But now, it seems like the A380 might be finally making a huge comeback.

And the A380 is really great to fly as a passenger - I've flown in all four classes on Emirates' A380s and they've all been my best experiences in the air. In fact, the A380 is the reason why I choose to fly Emirates.
My experiences were poor; on one flight I had a broken table and another a broken headphone jack.
@@pebbleschan6085what airline?
Emirates
Queen of the Skies
@@pebbleschan6085 eh happens to all airlines went on Singapore airlines and had similar issues and had an ife breakdown on ana
Love flying in the A380 - so comfortable and quiet.
The difference in experience between A380 and B777 for long distance flights in Economy is huge. Flew to Brisbane from Dubai on Emirates and the A380 comfort was unmatched, quieter cabin and comfortable seats. Stark contrast on the way back on the B777...noisy and just couldn't figure out a comfortable position even though the middle seat was empty. I had a sore, painful and hard calf muscle by the time I got off which lasted for 7 days. Didn't feel anything at all on the A380. This was my first long distance flight !!!
Flew Emirates A380 on Tuesday this week. 15 hour non stop flight. All was great
You forgot to mention an important point: the A380 assembly line factory has been converted to produce A320s…
There is no assembly factory now
Actually A350, but yes.

Love flying Emirates A380 !
I love the a380. I live a few mins away from Manchester airport and always wows me when it flies over shadow moss road when it comes into land. You really see the scale of it being so low. Absolutley Incredible engineering & very comfy to fly too
Brit Bob agrees wirh Kangaroo Bob. - A380 is a BEAUT !!
The best aircraft to fly on without a doubt. Aussie Bob
An absolute chonker 😂
100% ❤
Lowest economy class on an A380 is almost equivalent to a business class on someone other airplanes especially Boeings. Every traveller should fly an A380 in their travel life time.
I have friends who work in the aviation industry and the demand during the 2023-2024 period has been insane! Man even a few airlines that never turned a profit before (like SAA) have done so. Emirates recorded huge profit for the year and the holiday season has not even ended. Try getting a seat on an international flight this moment. There's definitely a demand for the A380, though that may be seasonal and route specific (like mentioned in this video). I guess Boeing's troubles are good news for us who love the King of the Sky! May the A380 continue flying for the next decade and beyond - it's my favourite airplane as a passenger.
There is no more king of the sky, it has already ended production. Wide body 2 engine planes are way more profitable than 4 engine ones.
Still my favourite plane to fly on. The main downside is a longer wait in the baggage hall, but when airlines, such as Emirates, use multiple jetways, boarding time is no more protracted than a 777 or similar twin jet widebody.
A380 is very comfortable, yes.
If it’s a Boeing I’m not going. Trust is gone.
Its the best aircraft in long distances
Travelling in the Emirates A380 is addictive.
FR
Hardly massive news. The 380 is being used everywhere now at full capacity.
If the main issue is fuel burn, why not re-engine the 380 with RR geared turbo fans, but limit their power to the same as Trent 900? Logically, you should be able to use the existing wings.
As far as Boeing 777x won't arrive in compagnies, the A380 is the best card in your hand to play long haul flights.🎉
I think Emirates is working with Airbus on a very long term life extension program for their current A380 fleet. I can see major structural rebuilds for the fuselage, maybe a new wing and very likely new engines based on Rolls-Royce's _UltraFan_ technology or even a modified General Electric GE9X derivative. Such a rebuild program could extend the life of the A380 to beyond even 2050.
They do it with the B-52. Those things will be 100 years old when they retire. They get modified over time and are getting new engines from RR soon.
Cost wise, Better if they build an all new A380 with the new engines as mentioned…
A380 needs a new landing gear every 10 years.
@ ..wonder how much that system costs to buy & install
1000 people? Holy cow! Live long and prosper.
This plane has reportedly had more comebacks than Frank Sinatra did.
It is probably the last adventurous & fantastic project in aviation history - the last icon of aviation! I (ex-Airbus employee) really admired my company for it - it was a real risk, a great vision. I am very happy that the A380 is not dead after all... at least for a while. 💙 PS. The information policy vs. the launching customer Singapore Airlaines was a misery, desaster, embarrasing, a real shame!!! But this was a management issue, nothing to do with the engineers ...
No mention of ANA use of 3 A380 for their Honolulu route. As there is limited airline slots for Honolulu but large demand in Japan so they use the A380 to meet their demand.
Love it fly to nz every year beautiful plane. Roll on 29 Dec 2024. Also Singapore airlines the best there is.
Wish they would bring back that air marvel.
I comment the same as before, on many routes the A380 was doomed because the bilateral air traffic agreements! Example? Philippines denied Emirates to fly A380 to Manila, because the Filipino airlines cannot equal the 50:50 agreements. Irony that Manila is the hub for A380 overhaul by Lufthansa Technik. They have to fly empty both ways, very weird.
PS: second problem, Airbus kept the A350 smaller than the 777 to not compete with the A380 ... now fancy enough A380s could get easily 15% more efficiency by latest engines and some other optimisations. Biggest problem is that Airbus is overwhelmed with orders ... A321 neo, A330 neo and A350-900 ... seems the A350-1000 has some issues though
More like an airship… impressive to watch. Rather than complain just fly another plane.
Long live the A380! ❤
This Jumbo Jet will never go away 😂
You make it sound like Boeing advised Airbus against the A380 because they were concerned for them. No, it was because Boeing had plans for their B747-800 which was to have replaced the 400 series. That flopped and most of the few that were built ended up as Freighters.
I have been saying for years that the a380 is.coming back, even if EK buy it out. But its coming back ❤❤❤ the world cannot deal with single aisle aircraft
Keep dreaming. It’s not coming back.
luv this masterpiece.
One factor that was not mentioned in this video is the shrinking availability of slots at the big airports. All over the world people are protesting the constant nuisance of airplanes passing over. In reaction many governments tend to the reduce the number of slots available for landing and take off... Which means that both the airports and airlines are facing limits to their growth. And one very simple way to still keep the capacity of the airports growing is to fly with bigger airplanes. Which makes it even more attractive to fly with ultra large airplanes..
The counterpoint to this is the limited number of gates available which can fit an A380, so most airports can't support many A380s at a gate at once. I think Chicago O'Hare only has two A380 gates, which aren't exclusively used for A380s.
@@johnhaller5851 Yes, that is true, but transforming - rebuilding gates, or even building new terminals with bigger gates and more space in the infrastructure is a costly but relatively simple exercise. And once the business case for it becomes clear, Airports will start doing this...
What I’ve seen of the new Rose Royce engines they’re incredible super power you could build 1000 passenger airplane without any problems they would they would be perfectly suited for the thousand passenger airplane
So no downgrade to two engines with 110.000 pound of thrust? Would be an very efficient plane
It should, they still need the economics, I think the 747 will be back as well. When you are sitting out over a hostile ocean at 2 am, I like having 4 engines.
American English use of the word 'shocking' here jars with the British usage. Here in the UK (and many other English-speaking parts of the world) it means ' frightening, disgraceful, disgusting, horrifying' which I'm sure is not intended. The word that should be used is 'surprising'. Surely that works in American English, too? Or is it not strong enough? You could try 'really surprising' or even 'astonishing' I suppose. But not 'shocking'.
Has to be "shocking" for the clickbait factor.
shocking here is often referred to when electricity is involved...
In 3 days flying EK.first from Australia to kuwait returning out of saudi all ek first😂😂😂 cant wait
Whälp? Is it not obvious? They must retrofit the A 380 with modern ultra-high bypass turbofans and use the excess thrust and extend the fuselage.
Sad AI voice.
My friend loved the A380 but his company or customers used to pay for Business Class for him to attend meetings. I used to enjoy flying on the 747 and the only thing better on the A380 for me was the extensive personal audio-visual system. Since Boeing stopped making the 747 too it is no wonder there is a shortage of seats.
How the new RRultra fan work Tomate it 25% more efficient? Why they didn’t it before???
I've done a lot of long and short haul flights, as a passenger, since 1955 and the A380 is absolutely, by far, my favourite plane. The 747 comes second. I haven't flown on an A350 of a 780. Most of my flying has been with airlines that actually maintain their planes. BOAC and its derivatives, QANTAS, PANAM, TWA, Northwest Orient, Swiss, Air France, Lufthansa, Cathay Pacific, Air Canada, Singapore Airlines, American Airlines, etc.
I do not like the 777. Noisy, vibrating, primitive. I flew Singapore Airlines from Melbourne, Australia to London via Singapore 10 years ago. A380 from Melbourne to Singapore and then 777 on to London. I detested the 777. It reminded me very much of a Pakistan Army Bristol Freighter in 1955. They used to say about the Bristol Freighter that it was a few thousand bits of a plane flying in close formation. Comparing a 777 with an A380 is like comparing a Trabant with a Rolls Royce.
I like both the A380 (for long haul) and the A220 (short haul).
Its just mind-blowing how technology have come so far, imagine a thicc blobber flying in the sky.
I hope they produce them again. Everytime i fly emirates with a a380 its nice whereas with a boeing 777 it is just not as nice to fly with
If it was designed as a hub2hub type equipment and business model, perhaps one of these carriers will code share with as many other carriers as possible to move people hub to hub. Then those people transit further onward the regular carrier routes and smaller equipment. Meaning aviation might need to redefine what air travel business means in the future. It’s not cramming people into economy type seating !
If the 777X hurries up, then they will park the A380
I am really admired Airbus A380 due to it's huge size 👍👌I am wondering whether SIA is flying this jumbo jet which I am keen to fly with a manageable budget to experience personally.
Yes they do … I think they use it to the Australia and Germany route.
The Airbus A380 is an aircraft built ahead of its time. Unfortunately the carriers which placed orders didn’t know where to send the super jumbo. During the pandemic airlines permanently grounded aircraft including the A380. When borders reopened, demand surpassed capacity hence the A380 made a come back. Unfortunately the pandemic put the world in pause mode and that had a domino effect especially with supply chains all over the world. Qantas 10th and final A380 won’t be returning to revenue service until 2026!!!!
With the production line closed I doubt there will ever be a A380 Neo, upgraded variant or stretched version (originally planned)…
A 4 engine aircraft is no longer required due to changes in ETOP rules (e.g. ETOP-180 for 777).
Now western airlines cannot fly Europe - East Asia using Russian territory. Longer routes needs more capacity. And in addition Boing is behind production shedules.
Nonetheless some A380 are scrapped.
the A380 overall design does not allow for a freighter version or a such conversion. Whatever matket demands, Airbus is pretty unlikely to relaunch the A380 program, for a vareity of reasons some of which are kaready mentioned. The vast majority of airlines have gotten aquainted using twin-jet widebodies and there seems to be no going back, also the B777/A350 size has proven to be the large side sweetspot.
Widebody planes will fly domestically in India in next 10 years because of Huge population. Who knows A380 might make a comeback in India after 25 years only for domestic market?
i am so happy . Hope operating costs will be managabls
Yo guys you know sometimes you can find it in south Africa 🇿🇦
What is airbus made a neo version of it💀
Well the thing is they made a similar concept of it called the a380 plus
Air India also buying A380
Return the 747
If aircraft manufacturers build planes with 1000 seat capacity would they be able to fly on the routes that they prently fly with full seat bookings and land at the same airports that accept smaller capacity aircraft that have no restrictions and still be a good commercial proposition ,,,,,,
Isn't the runway length a prerequisites too? 🤔 Small airports doesn't have a long runway for A380s
Ugghh, ridiculous robovoice! Lame and it earned a thumbs down. 5:11 “into the 2030 ess”.
Boeing is responsible for it’s own demise
And when one crashes. Titanic
You can’t disappear an engineering marvel.
...another a380 clip that has zero new info
Trump is now President! Boeing could now go ahead with their newest flying coffin (like the 737-Max)!!! 🤣🤣 🤣 Their stock price will definitely soar before making another terrifying aviation history!!!🤣🤣🤣
Why did Airbus build the A380? Because they never had to risk going out of business if the decision was a poor one, as it proved to be. Being backed by the governments of France and Germany, Airbus is not a normal business. Will they re-open the line to build more A380s? Don't bet on it after all the money they lost on first run. I did notice that despite a lot of superlative terms, actual numbers of A380s returned to service was not mentioned.
So, 14 minutes to tell us what we have know for the last few years: there is no longer a production facility to build A380s, new engines have been developed in the last 20 years.
While all Airbus had to say about it is: "The door is closed, but it is not locked".
okay
go AB go for not 380 but 580
Emirates receives money from the government.
What do think
about if free and open competition?
It’s cheap, that counts.
Sure, the big ME3 receive gov funds, but they ALSO found the niche market being a connector hub between Austalasia /India and Europe / America. Key is also their geographical location. However, once Air India fixes it's issues and expands it's routes and frequencies, the ME3 is going to lose a big chunk of their connecting pax. Similar thing is hoped when Qantas / BA have sucessfully, established their operation sunrise, non-stop Austraiia -Europe routes, though this would not play much as passengers would prefer to pay less and have a stop in the middle to rest than sitting 18 hrs non-stop in a tube. The A380 has a quite high operational cost, which is the reason Qantas is not planning on using it on it's extra long range non stop projetcts. (huge weight penalty).
We fly with Qatar and Emirates on the A380 Emirates is a nightmare when you get to Dubai massive queues when you land and have to go through security to your next flight, did it earlier this year going to Thailand, we will only fly with Qatar because you go straight into the concourse now and not through a second security check, if Emirates stop this we will go back to them but not until and we fly this route regularly the flights are good though with both airlines.
However...

Believe it or not, the A380 will make a comeback eventually.
It has comeback already!
@@chespocket1756 not really as the production line is permanantly shut.
clickbait
Rolls Royce has just won a competition to replace the Americans iconic B52 bombers old engines with their new range of super engines which apparently will extend the life of these planes for many more years. Why cannot these be used?
The new RR engine on the B52 simply aren’t big enough, the F130 is one of several variants that produce roughly 15-20,000lbs thrust. The A380 ENGINE ALLIANCE GP7000 produces roughly 75,000lbs EACH! Also the integration of an engine into an aircraft is so complex you cannot just swap it out. For example a320’s can come with PW GTF engines or CFM LEAP engines. Once you make your choice that’s it, you can’t just swap them 10 years down the road for the other manufacturer.
What has this got to do with the A380 ? 🤡
Global should team up with Cunard and work with them.
Annoying AI voice
Airbus is looking at Boeing from their tear view mirror.
Boeing only spending is hiring assassins for now 🤔🤔
Imagine an aircraft with 1000 passengers crashing…
if this happens, it would be over for the A380.
This is up to the fuel cost.
In other words, greed took precedent over common sense and passenger safety.
How? It never got orders from US airlines.
Luckily the world is a lot bigger than your country.
@ lol. Yes, hence the success of the A-380 eh? LOL. But, name a non US airline with a fleet of 900 plus? Plus I’m not American.
Plain born to death.
High fuel consumption.
As soon as twin planes are coming from production, good bye 380.
Why do you think many airlines say good bye to the fuel guzzler.
They don’t care about you preferring the 380.
No the ONLY reason, is because the 777x is so far behind in delivery and Airbus are tied hand and foot by suppliers. The A380 might be quiet and comfortable BUT its uneconomic against large twin Airliners-- A350-1000/Boeing 777x. in essence airlines have no choice.
The A380 is a classic for just being built. But is just not profitable due to being to expensive to buy, maintain, and operate. Only stupid CEO of airliners with huge egos are dumb enough to buy it operate it.
I don’t know why anybody would want to fly on this ungainly, ugly aircraft. But then I don’t want to fly on ANY Airbutt aircraft.
OMG always talk and more talk. So sick of it! No other plane needed a 60m wide runway. Let alone space on ground and airwake on takeoff. Seating comfort on bottom row is substandard. Boarding times excessive. So sick of long waits on airports, chaos on terminals. Who had this idea in the first place should have thought it thru!
Only thing true is runway width. And you forgot the weight issue that forced re enforcement of the runways. But all passengers who traveled with the A380 voted it one of the best and most comfortable aircraft they ever flew on, regardless of class. None expressed aircraft related boarding or deplaning issues.
The financial issues were enough to kill the viability of the project without inventing other ones
@@Ellinillard All the people I talk to hate the extra chaos, sure top deck is great. Google the Lufthansa A380 that had booked a landing slot at JFK only to be forced away because ATC hated the german big beast and had lost its booking refusing the pilots on a super heavy 380 to give a upwind wet runway! Actually they can take off on a 45m strip with a special procedure.
