what a great point Mark makes , if an award of a penalty is missed, game goes on , the view it , game is stopped to award the penalty , but it cant be stopped to award a legitimate goal , wheres the sense
To be fair the equivalent scenario would be a penalty not being given by VAR then later they see it is a penalty and stop the game to award it. Don't think I've seen that happen and the current rules seems to not allow it. Terrible rule in my opinion, just use common sense.
@bobcg100 the rules allow it. If the situation was analyzed and decided on. They can't re-review the situation. So if a Pen was what they said to be given and the ref didnt. They would not be doing as review. Ofcourse refs aren't bright enough to understand their own rules
Also look at the clip of Simon Hooper during the Spurs throw in. He could clearly HEAR the VAR room. It's a complete lie that he wasn't aware of what was going on.
I'm not particularly a rugby fan, but all you have to do is look at how they use similar tech - only 2 or 3 voices on the line, clear communication, rational explanations and definite decisions.
Those officials for what ever reason both on and off the pitch. Had the full intention that the result of that game was the result of the game. Liverpool where never meant to win that game and they made it happen.
For people who will listen to it, or if you go and listen again The voice who says 'offside, check complete' and 'cant do anything. Can't do anything ' That fella had literally just flown out to Man Cities owners' country United Arab Emirates.
Let's face it, no one is gonna want England reffing one of their games again in future. At the best a numpty, at the worst corrupt. Kudos to the replay operator though. The only one doing their job well.
As a Liverpool fan I do feel a bit calmer, even though the rules are ridiculous and they feel they couldn't change it. They did notice it, the rules are just bad. This should spark a change, before the next game is kicked off. But hearing them effing and jeffing actually realising the mistake does help. Because in my mind I was expecting some sort of bias nonsense.
It's still not good enough, they're still complete morons who can't think critically and get buried under protocol and bureaucracy. To hell with it. Just shout into the refs ear: "STOP THE GAME IMMEDIATELY. THAT WAS A GOAL." Sure they get a slap on the wrist for breaking the rules, but who cares, it's a stupid rule anyway. And can you imagine the credit they'd be getting for preserving the integrity of the game? Instead all 4 of those fools decided to stay silent and in the process ruined their reputations.
Im a spurs fan but i was confused about it, but they followed the rules properly, they just thought they were making a different decision. I also want to ask if the reaction would be this severe if it was spurs who were robbed of a goal instead. I dont think it would, i think the general reaction would be that its 'typical spurs'. So while i do feel sympathy, i do feel it is a sort of justice as liverpool have benefited more from var mistakes than any other team since the introduction of var. The problem is that var is being operated with pre var rules. That is why they cant go back after a decision is made. Because pre var rules say that officials cant go back and change decision after. The rules should have been adjusted to allow more chance to go back and change incorrect decisions.
@@flakygaming2647 How can you say they followed the rules properly if they didn't even know what the on field decision was? And I think you're wrong to suggest that the reaction from the masses would have been any different were this to happen to Spurs. This isn't an issue of tribalism; this cuts deeply into the integrity of the process we as fans are told to trust, and everyone can feel it equally. Everyone not peddling an agenda thinks, "This could happen to my team next," and they will fight against it. We can't let tribalism stop us from holding the PGMOL to a professional standard.
The ref should have stopped game, clarified the onside decision with the muppets on VAR. Then spoke with the two Captains, awarded the goal, and pointed to the centre spot, for a Spurs restart.
As a Liverpool supporter, I've accepted that there probably won't be any changes to the game/result/loss points/etc. But as a football supporter, I'm just glad this is being pursued for the sake of future matches that can be affected
Coming from a Liverpool fan, you’re a legend, Mark. Thank you for speaking out and standing up for the sake of the game, regardless of your allegiances.
Just like in aviation, they need standardized communication and wording so that there are no misunderstandings. No confusion, no ego, no BS, no misunderstanding and everyone knows what to do. There are almost no mistakes in air traffic control. Simple training , standardization and regulation of communication could solve the problem.
Great update. Great video. This whole fiasco is a complete head scratcher!!! Where do we go from here? Who knows, I’d send in Ronnie Pickering. At least he gets his message across
Don’t blame the VAR technology for this. Get competent refs to operate it with a proper system and it will work out very well. Look at other top leagues in Europe, I don’t see anyone complaining in those. Yet this is the best league in the world and can’t fix the officiating.
Spot on again Mark totally agree with all you say. I hope Liverpool pursue this all the way. The very idea of football is to score goals so when a goal is scored and officials say it wasn't a goal when it clearly was...what is the point of competing!
Always had a feeling EPL was rigged. These mistakes I feel are premeditated. This is not SH first blunder, and its not refereeing first blunder. They keep happening. Feeling very sad for Liverpool being robbed of a potential win, and I’m not a Liverpool fan.
Finally found a comment I agree with. Saddest thing is most fans and including Liverpool fans still thinks it’s just so called error, shambles or whatever brainwashed word that takes away from its reality. Corruption and match fixing.
Who remembers when Man Utd were given a penalty vs Brighton even though the game had ended? It's stupid that they couldn't stop the game. This is just absurd. The best example of assisted officiating is in cricket, the communication between the third umpire and the on-field umpire is so clear. There's no chance of something like this happening.
The more worrying issue is if they can’t get a factual decision correct such as offside, how can anyone trust the hundreds of decisions that have been made on subjective incidents such as penalties and red cards?
I agree that other clubs need to get involved as this is unavoidable in a pro league worth billions. The VAR officials sounded like they were too busy to bother looking. The PL needs to follow Rugby on this. Clear intelligent explanation.
As I commented on an earlier vid about this: The PGMOL do not exist to improve the standard of refereeing in England. They exist to protect their members. Total Old Boy's club.
Great video, mate. Very to the point, and you've picked up on a few things that I had actually missed. Definitely we all need for this to not just go quietly away now!
It shows that VAR can work with the people behind it, but it needs to be the RIGHT people. Cause if some of them can't figure out the correct course of action, then there is no chance VAR will succeed.

"Intentionally played dumbed".
Exactly. They are not as dumb as they wanted to be seen.
If only Premier league clubs weren't so commercially affiliated, there'd actually be a strike about this
If liverpool didn't put the frighteners on them we wouldn't be hearing this.
They need respect because other clubs are shook
Really loving the content, have to say as a Liverpool fan that it’s refreshing to hear someone who actually just cares about football.
Agree.. he is the true football fan..
Your coverage of this situation has been nothing other than professional, putting rivalries and all aside for the greater good of the sport we all love !
They're are clueless in that VAR room
As a spurs fan, the goal should have stood, I was shocked when it wasn't given, this shows how incompetent they all are. Nothing will change tho, it never does... more and more errors will happen I just wonder when will it reach its limit of errors...
Nobody disputes whether it was a goal or not. The problem is why it was not awarded
@@paulmartin9194Because they are corrupt and didn't want Liverpool to be given the goal
@@SuperMillhillyou scousers think everything's corrupt and against you. People are in roles they are too incompetent for in every walk of life whether it's refs, police, army, doctors, lawyers there's useless people everywhere.
@@SuperMillhillbro I'm LFC, and I don't think it's a conspiracy against us bc they are fully stupid in every game
@SuperMillhill it's not corruption, this could happen to any team... It's just shocking it happens in big games like this. It shouldn't even happen in the first place in a league like the prem. I'm glad it's getting the lime light like it is, I just wonder if it happened against a team like Luton or Sheffield would it be getting this much attention.
The VAR had a holiday in UAE Thursday before game, the reason he couldn't stop the game because he would have to give his pay check back
just proves what I commented elsewhere before hearing it; they are more bothered about following their so called procedures rather than actually doing the right thing
If any of us had a blunder of similar consequence at our place of work we all would have gotten the sack…
Chef: John, you've pissed in the soup! Put it down, don't give it to the customers!
John the Waiter: Can't do anything.
Talking of Gary Neville , he's fairly changed his tune over the last 24 hours !! ( must have got the memo from sky !! 😉).
It’s amazing to me that every other sport has figured out how to use VAR and football hasn’t.
They don't want to
Not even football as a whole, but the prem league... Uefa hasn't had this problem, hell the Qataris even had a pretty tidy use of VAR at the WC.
@@jamesjenkins8364True.
The prem is the problem
what a great point Mark makes , if an award of a penalty is missed, game goes on , the view it , game is stopped to award the penalty , but it cant be stopped to award a legitimate goal , wheres the sense
We should definitely vote mark in power to tackle the corruption in the pgmol. He’s actually not backtracked once and stood up for football.
Hold on why should a united fan be in power?
For people who will listen to it, or if you go and listen again
The voice who says 'offside, check complete' and 'cant do anything. Can't do anything '
That fella had literally just flown out to Man Cities owners' country United Arab Emirates.
Let's face it, no one is gonna want England reffing one of their games again in future. At the best a numpty, at the worst corrupt. Kudos to the replay operator though. The only one doing their job well.
Do you mean one of the most luxurious places to go visit?
Thank you Mark for your honesty
Imagine that sort of conversation in the cockpit of a plane😱
Absolutely beyond words and ideas! 😮
@@flakygaming2647 Don't know if it would have been the same reaction, but it should be, no matter which team would have been affected by it.
I blame leadership and rule makers. They have put refs in bad place. Mistakes will happen and they do not allow any way to retract mistakes.
Thank you Mark for your unbiased and level headed take on this whole situation, from a liverpool fan 👍
They should never say check complete.. it should only be onside onside, goal given or offside offside, goal disallowed..
check complete means fack all. They could be checking the menu for supper for all we know. PRATTS.
Same here mate
Liverpool fan here and you’ve absolutely nailed it Mark 👍
Coming from a Liverpool fan, you’re a legend, Mark. Thank you for speaking out and standing up for the sake of the game, regardless of your allegiances.
Well done Mark, you have stated what a lot of fans think. 👍
Listening to Dermot Gallagher talk right after they played it on SSN was just as infuriating as listening to the VAR booth.
Gatekeeping at it's finest
He's such a wet lettuce
Just like in aviation, they need standardized communication and wording so that there are no misunderstandings. No confusion, no ego, no BS, no misunderstanding and everyone knows what to do. There are almost no mistakes in air traffic control. Simple training , standardization and regulation of communication could solve the problem.
On top of all this they upheld Jones's red card which was never a red card to begin with.
Great update. Great video.
This whole fiasco is a complete head scratcher!!!
Where do we go from here?
Who knows, I’d send in Ronnie Pickering. At least he gets his message across
Might be naive of me but it's amazing how rugby incorporated tmo reviews and its worked mostly very well and hasn't translated to football
" I can't do anything. I can't do anything" ...that said it all
Well said Mark. Absolutely spot on
Liverpool fan here,,,all I wanna say is Thank you Mark ❤
Don’t blame the VAR technology for this. Get competent refs to operate it with a proper system and it will work out very well. Look at other top leagues in Europe, I don’t see anyone complaining in those. Yet this is the best league in the world and can’t fix the officiating.
Spot on again Mark totally agree with all you say. I hope Liverpool pursue this all the way. The very idea of football is to score goals so when a goal is scored and officials say it wasn't a goal when it clearly was...what is the point of competing!
Well done Mark. You have spoke about this incident better than anyone else. Nailed it
Always had a feeling EPL was rigged. These mistakes I feel are premeditated. This is not SH first blunder, and its not refereeing first blunder. They keep happening. Feeling very sad for Liverpool being robbed of a potential win, and I’m not a Liverpool fan.
Yep, this. The 'chaos' heard is the smokescreen they use to manipulate decisions, games, and, (dare I say it?), titles
@@b8nnytez Absolutely. What a shame
Finally found a comment I agree with. Saddest thing is most fans and including Liverpool fans still thinks it’s just so called error, shambles or whatever brainwashed word that takes away from its reality. Corruption and match fixing.
Big $ at stake. Especially this game.
Who remembers when Man Utd were given a penalty vs Brighton even though the game had ended? It's stupid that they couldn't stop the game. This is just absurd. The best example of assisted officiating is in cricket, the communication between the third umpire and the on-field umpire is so clear. There's no chance of something like this happening.
i love mark as a liverpool fan for supporting us ty ♥
Absolutely right Mark…..couldn’t agree more.
Im a liverpool fan and I listen to Mark more than any other podcast because he is true to the game. I appreciate your honesty
LFC fan here. I actually subscribed to your channel a few months ago because you speak the truth and love football. Much appreciated.
This is a very good channel Mark - from a Liverpool fan. 👍👍
I’ve been refreshing waiting for this video to drop. You are a legend Mark
As I commented on an earlier vid about this: The PGMOL do not exist to improve the standard of refereeing in England. They exist to protect their members. Total Old Boy's club.
No leadership, no one in control!
Why couldnt we hear the ref or the fourth official? Surely the ref asks to confirm the outcome? To make sure he heard it correctly
Compare that to how Rugby referees communicate with TMO.
Howard Webb has to go, he's the boss, the buck stops with him
Great video, mate. Very to the point, and you've picked up on a few things that I had actually missed. Definitely we all need for this to not just go quietly away now!
This is the worst corruption I’ve seen ever 💯
It shows that VAR can work with the people behind it, but it needs to be the RIGHT people. Cause if some of them can't figure out the correct course of action, then there is no chance VAR will succeed.
Thank you Mark for being a true football fan as always.
I’m a Liverpool Fan , Cheers for the comments Mark 👍👌🏻🌟
Mark! I am an Liverpool fan but you have become an idol! Way to go man! You are the loveliest Man U fans we have ever seen! RESPECT!
Can't believe they have rejected the reds appeal on Curtis Jones sending off. Someone's throwing their toys out the pram because the reds aren't backing down.
fantastic content Mark as always, a serious issue delivered with a pinch of humour. best channel on YT
Great video, Mark. Just for that, I'll cheer for United today. YNWA.
Spot on once again, mark. I hope liverpool will start the fight for better rules and VAR protocols. From Liverpool supporter
"Offside yeah,goal yeah" 😂
