    My son is in 5th grade, autistic and low verbal. He used to be terribly afraid of bees so we have encouraged education to ease his fears. He has been enjoying your channel for some time and today said, "I love Wasp Hunter." Thank you for sharing your interests and skills with the world. Love from Wisconsin, USA.

      Hey, I'm in my 30s and still terribly afraid of these guys lol. Probably because I've been stung enough times to know how painful it is and how scary it is to get swarmed. If I had watched stuff like this as a kid, who knows maybe I wouldn't have such a phobia of wasps & hornets. Best of luck with your son.

    I stepped on a ground nest when I was about 7 and I found out they can fly faster than I could run. Got stung a lot and it hurt! The last time I got stung I was walking on an abandoned railroad track and they got me 3 times on the same ankle and actually left scars.

    The active ingrediant in Drione is silica so it kills the wasps by dehydrating them and essentially removing their exoskeletons. This is why they roll around like that as they basically have no functional bones left by the end.

      Rip wasps bones

    • @EyesoreJr
      @EyesoreJr 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      You are incorrect. The active ingredient is the pyrethrin. The silica is a secondary kill of there is a resistance to the pyrethrin.

    • @FurtiveSkeptical
      @FurtiveSkeptical 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Much like the diatom insect powders, the fine silica clogs up the breathing openings along their sides just like their cousins the ants.

    • @EyesoreJr
      @EyesoreJr 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      If you are referring to diatomaceous earth, that is also incorrect. Diatomaceous earth is more of a spikey powder that is meant to scratch the insects exoskeleton and cause them to dry out due to air. It may cause breathing trouble as well but, silica is a more rounded powder that can absorb 37% more liquid than its own weight thus dehydrating any insect. The silica in Tri-Die is actually electrostaticly charged so when an insect comes in contact with it, it sticks to them and draws the liquid out of them.

    A neighbor had a basket-ball sized bald-face hornet nest on the corner of their eves, pretty close to my pool. He unloaded 3 cans of spray into the nest one night. The next morning you could not tell he did anything. I puffed a little dust into the main entrance a few nights later. The next day there was no activity whatsoever at the nest, and we were able to take it down - no bee suit, no hornets, no stings. Used the nest for educational purposes with my kids... Drione is amazing! I have been using it for about 25 years now.

    I just killed a huge bald-faced hornets nest that was maybe a little larger than that one. But it was about waste/chest high on our power disconnect/meter on the side of the house. I was going to let them die off in the cold temps and than remove the nest, until one stung me well away from their nest. That meant war. I bought the commercial Raid hornet spray and let them have it. Amazing how quickly they died and how many unhatched larva was inside that nest... Thumbs Up! And yes, their sting will absolutely get your attention instantly...

    Natural pyrethrum with PBO is a good flushing agent in many other formulations too, like foggers and aerosol sprays. Because it actually agitates insects, and hence the faster knock down effect.The new Drione seems to have non toxic silica gel for residual effect, mostly drying out crawling insects. I wouldn't use it for residual effect, though. Permethrin, deltamethrin and cypermethrin are still go-to for crawlies. For pyrethroid-resistant strains with added novelty pesticide flupyradifurone (because our EU avocado-hipsters decided to put restrictions on neonicotinoids), I've had good results with it this summer for those nigh-immune to pyrethroids fruit flies.

    Drione is the best. It is a bit on the expensive side. Which is why I only use it where there is lots of human activity like near a sidewalk or house entrance. Other than that I use tempo dust. As for ground wasps I opt for Delta dust as it works well for damp areas.

    Raid Wasp and Hornet puts them down faster, I think. I took out a nest as big as the one in the video and wore no specialized suit. Just waited until early evening and surprise blasted them with the Raid. Start at the entrance and work outward soaking the whole nest. Might take a whole can but when they fall down they're already in rigor mortis, dead as a door nail with no movement at all. Most stay in the nest and die as ONE BIG CLUMP. Climbed up toy roof two days later and tore the whole thing down and incinerated the dead nest in a bucket with lighter fluid.

    @Wasp Hunter I live in Northeast Ohio and I was mowing my yard on my zero turn last year and I just got done cleaning the blades so I still had on my leather work gloves. I have a creek that runs beside my house and I was mowing through there and something hit me on the top of my right thumb down towards my palm area. I seriously thought that I was just shot by a pellet or BB or something and I instantly looked around for kids playing in the side yards or something that nature. A lot of times the back neighbor kids will shoot their pellet and BB guns at the frogs in the creek. It hurt extremely bad. It felt like somebody took a 5 pound hammer and smacked me right in the top of my thumb with it. I instantly cut my mower off and got up and ran towards the house because of that point I knew that something had to have stung me? I looked and seen something huge and black flying through the air. I mean this thing was probably a good 3 to 3 1/2 inches long, and pure black. It landed on the gutter of my garage and its body covered over half the width of my aluminum gutters. The damn thing was huge, and the only thing that I could think of was a Tarantula Hawk but I know there are none of those in Ohio, at least not to my knowledge. It was pure black. It didn’t have any light brown wings or brown coloration in it at all, but it was pure black. The wings were pure black and they gave off a bluish to light bluish like color affect when the sun hit this things body a certain way? I’ve been stung by a lot of things, but this thing really hurt man and it was incredibly nasty. How it got through the leather gloves I have no idea? Maybe instead it got under and I just didn’t notice? The pain went from my shoulder all the way down to my fingertips and it lasted for the better part of the rest of that night and into the next morning. I still have a hard knot where it hit me at the bottom part of the top of my thumb. What the hell do you think this could’ve been? I will never forget that sting man, ever!!

      We always called it dry-on. We’d mix some borid in with it in the electric duster. Because the drione cakes up in there. And drop a marble in your bulb duster for easy busting up the drione. I believe it’s still pyrethren. Which is made from the crisanthimum flowers. A great natural insecticide. Killing wasps in Texas! 👋✌️

    I’m a new subscriber and I gotta say I love your channel bro. Your video popped up in my searches after looking at videos of giant Asian hornets….what are your thoughts on the giant Asian hornet and would you be a little uneasy if you had to exterminate one of their nests?
    Now it’s time to binge watch your vidoes.

    I was stung last year by a wasp on my birthday (the only name I found for her is "european wasp") and I was lucky that it didn't inject all the venom, but it was enough to hurt for almost a day (I remembered the advice of quickly washing it with water and soap, so I did). I can't imagine being stung by one of these....

      I was cleaning a gutter and was on a ladder and a nest of bald faced hornets was underneath and i accidentally grabbed the nest, well they didnt like that, now i had no protection on and was over 20 feet high on a ladder, got stung 28 times and it took all my balance to not fall off the ladder. Luckily im not allergic and was swarmed another time by the bald/white faced when i was 14, these hornets hurt the most
